In Malaysia's premium SUV market, consumers often seek a balance between sportiness, luxury features, and practicality—and the 2017 Infiniti QX70 3.7 S is designed to meet this demand. As a model under the brand that combines coupe-style aesthetics with all-wheel drive capability, its core selling points include a 324PS V6 engine, Bose audio system, and other class-defying features. Coupled with a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty, it has piqued the interest of many users who value driving pleasure and a sense of quality: can this car really strike a balance between "form" and "function"? This test will focus on static experience, dynamic performance, and daily practicality to help you determine whether it’s worth adding to your consideration list.

In terms of appearance, the QX70 3.7 S’s coupe SUV positioning is apparent at first glance. The front features Infiniti’s iconic double-arch grille, paired with sharp automatic LED headlights for high overall distinctiveness. The side profile showcases lines that slope seamlessly from the A-pillar to the tail, creating a coupe-like fastback contour. The 21-inch large tires (265/45R21 for both front and rear) further enhance its sporty appeal. The rear design is relatively simple, with LED taillights echoing the front, and a silver skid plate beneath the rear bumper adds a hint of ruggedness. For the finer details, the front fog lights and power-folding mirrors come as standard, blending luxury with understated style.

Sitting inside, the luxurious feel of the interior is mostly reflected in its materials and configurations. The dashboard is covered in soft-touch plastic, accented with silver trim, making the tactile areas feel premium. The driver’s seat is 10-way power adjustable with memory function, while the passenger seat is 8-way power adjustable and provides adequate support, ensuring comfort even during long journeys. The rear seats support manual reclining and can be folded in a 60:40 split. However, the fastback design results in slightly limited headroom—about two fingers’ distance for a 175cm passenger. In terms of features, the dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air vents, and a 220V/230V front power outlet are all practical additions. The 11-speaker Bose Sound Plus audio system delivers clear sound, a bonus for music lovers. Moreover, keyless entry/start and front/rear parking cameras with radar enhance everyday ease of use. Regarding space utility, the trunk offers a standard capacity of 410L, which can be expanded by folding the rear seats. It’s sufficient for storing daily shopping or equipment for a short camping trip.

In terms of performance, the QX70 3.7 S is equipped with a 3.7L V6 naturally aspirated engine, delivering a maximum power of 324PS (7000rpm) and maximum torque output at 5200rpm. Paired with an automatic transmission, the power response is smooth during daily driving, while switching to Sport mode makes the accelerator pedal more responsive, providing noticeable thrust when starting or overtaking. The official 0-100km/h acceleration time of 6.7 seconds indeed offers a satisfying driving experience. The all-wheel-drive system performs reliably on rainy or slippery roads, while the vehicle maintains stable body posture when cornering. The combination of a double-wishbone independent front suspension and a multi-link independent rear suspension provides road bump filtering that, while not overly soft, avoids transmitting excessive fine vibrations, striking a balance between sporty handling and comfort. The steering is precise, and with paddle shifters, the responsiveness in manual mode meets light handling needs.

Fuel consumption performance matches the positioning of the 3.7L V6. In urban conditions, it is about 12-13L/100km, and during highway cruising, it can drop to around 9L. On average, it is close to the official figure of 10.1L/100km. Noise control is quite good, with wind and tire noise remaining within an acceptable range during highway driving. Engine noise is only noticeably transmitted into the cabin at high RPMs. In terms of braking, the performance of the front and rear ventilated disc brakes is stable, and the car does not veer during emergency braking. The braking force release feels linear.

Overall, the core advantages of the 2017 Infiniti QX70 3.7 S are clear: a unique coupe-style exterior, the powerful 3.7L V6 engine, luxurious features like the Bose sound system, and a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty. Compared with its class competitors like the BMW X6 or Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, it offers better cost-performance and richer configurations. However, rear headroom and trunk expandability fall short of traditional SUVs, making it more suitable for users who prioritize driving pleasure over practicality.

If you are a middle-class individual aged 30-45, appreciate sporty exterior designs, occasionally undertake long-distance driving or face slippery road conditions, and value interior features and sound quality, the QX70 3.7 S would be a good choice. It can meet the comfort needs of daily commuting while also providing enjoyable driving experiences on weekends. However, if you have a family of more than three members and frequently need to carry large items, a more spacious traditional SUV might be a better option.

In conclusion, the 2017 Infiniti QX70 3.7 S is a "specialized but standout" executive SUV. It captures the needs of specific customers with its sporty design and luxurious features, making it ideal for those who prefer individuality and a unique driving experience over the mainstream.

This QX70 3.7 S has been driven for a few years, and its power reserve is sufficient during traffic jams for commuting, with no delay when overtaking. The space is just right for family use, and the rear seat is not cramped when fully occupied. The Bose sound system is excellent, and the air conditioning is cold enough. The fuel consumption is slightly high, but with 324 horsepower, it's worth it.

Previously, I drove a Japanese SUV. The reason for switching to the QX70 3.7 S was all for its V6 engine—during the early morning rush hour in Kuala Lumpur on Jalan Ampang, the smooth power delivery when pressing the accelerator to overtake is much more comfortable than turbocharged cars. On weekends, I take my family to Genting; the 21-inch tires provide excellent grip, the body lean during cornering is smaller than my friend's X5, and with the Bose sound system playing music, it's not noisy while climbing hills. The interior materials feel solid, but the raised middle part of the rear seat is a bit intrusive, making it slightly cramped for three people on long trips. However, with the 5-year unlimited mileage warranty in Malaysia, it's truly worry-free. The fuel consumption of about 12 liters using RON95 is acceptable, especially considering the 324 horsepower it delivers. It even draws a lot of attention—totally worth it.

This QX70 3.7 S has been driven for several years, and it has great power when accelerating on the highway. The 21-inch tires are very stable. The back row can fit three buddies without feeling cramped, and the Bose audio system is enjoyable while stuck in traffic. The fuel consumption is a bit high, but the safety features are fully loaded, making it feel reliable to drive.

This interior feels so comfortable to the touch! The leather is so fine that it doesn't feel like an SUV; driving every day feels like touching a high-end sofa~
