Nowadays, consumers in the C-segment car market are increasingly unsatisfied with the stereotypical designs of traditional sedans. They are looking for models that combine aesthetics, space, and power, and the 2024 Peugeot 408 ALLURE aims to meet these needs. As the brand's first coupe-style crossover in the C-segment, it not only boasts a unique exterior design but also features a 1.6T high-power engine, along with a standard 7-year/200,000-kilometer warranty. In this test drive, we focus on experiencing its practicality in daily use and driving performance to see if it can stand out in a fiercely competitive market.

The first thing that catches your eye with the 2024 Peugeot 408 ALLURE is its coupe-like crossover stance. The body measures 4687mm in length, 1859mm in width, and has a low height of 1478mm. Combined with a front-to-rear ascending waistline and a fastback-style rear, it breaks away from the dullness of traditional sedans. The front end retains Peugeot's signature frameless grille design, with LED daytime running lights on both sides adopting the iconic claw-shaped design, which provides high recognition when illuminated. The 18-inch wheels on the side of the car are paired with 225/55 R18 tires, ensuring good traction without appearing too over-the-top. At the rear, the LED taillights also feature a claw design, echoing the front, while the black plastic cladding on the lower rear bumper enhances the crossover attribute.

Once inside, the interior design of the 2024 Peugeot 408 ALLURE is simple yet exudes a sense of technology. The dashboard is layered, with the upper section wrapped in soft-touch materials and the lower section made of hard plastic, although the overall craftsmanship is relatively refined. The standard 10-inch central control screen is located on top of the dashboard, with a clear interface layout and smooth operation. The fully digital instrument cluster provides rich information, displaying real-time data like speed, RPM, and fuel consumption. In terms of features, the driver's seat supports electric adjustments, making it easy to find a comfortable sitting position. Although the front passenger seat is manually adjustable, the adjustment range is sufficient for daily use. The front row comes with automatic dual-zone climate control, while the rear features air vents and power interfaces, catering to rear-seat passengers' needs.

Space performance is a major highlight of the 2024 Peugeot 408 ALLURE. The 2787mm wheelbase provides ample legroom for both front and rear passengers. A passenger standing 175cm tall sits in the rear seat with about two fists' worth of space between their knees and the front seat. The trunk offers a capacity of 536 liters, and the rear seats can be folded down in a 60:40 split to further expand the storage space, making it capable of accommodating family trips or transporting large items. The interior also includes plenty of storage compartments, with door pockets fitting two 500ml bottles of water, and the central armrest box and glove box providing sufficient volumes for daily use.

In terms of power, the 2024 Peugeot 408 ALLURE is equipped with a 1.6T turbocharged engine that delivers a maximum power of 162kW (218PS) and a peak torque of 300N·m, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Acceleration is quick, and the throttle is tuned to be quite responsive, providing a noticeable surge with a light press. Switching to Sport mode makes the transmission's shifting logic more aggressive, with faster downshifts that provide greater confidence during overtaking. According to the manufacturer, the 0-100km/h acceleration takes 8.8 seconds, and in real-world driving, this performance comfortably meets most everyday scenarios, from urban commuting to highway cruising.

In terms of handling, the performance of the 2024 Peugeot 408 ALLURE is impressive. The steering is precise with minimal play, and it provides clear feedback about the road when cornering. The suspension system adopts a front MacPherson independent suspension and a rear multi-link independent suspension, tuned towards sportiness. However, it effectively absorbs most vibrations when passing uneven roads, ensuring a comfortable ride. At high speeds, the vehicle's stability is commendable, and even in crosswinds, there is no noticeable swaying. Regarding fuel consumption, the official combined fuel consumption is 7.56L/100km. During the actual test drive, the fuel consumption was about 9L/100km in urban roads and around 6.5L/100km on highways, delivering a fairly standard performance.

In terms of driving comfort, the 2024 Peugeot 408 ALLURE's seats offer good support and moderate padding, making long durations of seating comfortable without inducing fatigue. The noise insulation is also commendable, effectively controlling wind and tire noise at high speeds, ensuring it does not interfere with conversations among passengers inside. The braking system is stable, with a moderate pedal travel and linear braking force output, which inspires enough confidence.

Overall, the core advantages of the 2024 Peugeot 408 ALLURE lie in its unique crossover coupe design, ample space, and powerful performance. Compared to traditional sedans of the same class, it has a more distinctive appearance; compared to SUVs, it offers superior handling. The 7-year or 200,000-kilometer extended warranty also provides consumers with reliable assurance. This vehicle is suitable for those who pursue a distinctive aesthetic, value practicality, and have certain requirements for performance. It is especially ideal for young families who need to meet daily commuting and family outing needs without conforming too much in their vehicle choice.

In conclusion, the 2024 Peugeot 408 ALLURE is a crossover coupe C-segment car that combines aesthetics, space, and performance, offering consumers a fresh alternative. If you are looking for a distinctive and highly practical C-segment car, the 2024 Peugeot 408 ALLURE is worth considering.

Owner of 2024 Peugeot 408 PREMIUM
As the owner of the 2024 Peugeot 408 PREMIUM, after driving it for three months, I really love it more and more! The exterior definitely deserves full marks. There are too many identical SUVs and sedans on Malaysian roads. Its coupe-like fastback design combined with a high ground clearance always turns heads when parked at KLCC. The LED Claw taillights are highly recognizable when lit up at night, and my friends often describe it as a "little cheetah on the road". It's reasonable to give the safety aspect 4 out of 5 points. With 6 airbags, lane departure warning, and autonomous emergency braking as standard, once on Penang’s highway, a sudden lane-cutting by a Myvi startled me, and the autonomous emergency braking kicked in to bring the car to a stop, truly saving the day! However, adding a 360-degree camera would make it even better. In narrow parking spaces like those at Kuala Lumpur’s Pavilion, having just a rear camera still requires cautious inching to park properly. In terms of performance, it’s more than sufficient for Malaysian road conditions. The 1.6T turbo engages quickly; when rushing to work in Petaling Jaya in the morning, it maneuvers through traffic with ease. On highways, overtaking trucks is just a pedal away, and the 8AT gearbox shifts smoothly. However, as a C-segment car, it feels slightly underpowered when fully loaded with five people going up the steep slopes of Genting Highlands. But for daily commuting or weekend trips to Ipoh with the family, it’s absolutely fine. Overall, this car is very suitable for driving in Malaysia. It’s both stylish and practical, and if the safety features could be refined a bit more, it would be perfect!

Owner of 2024 Peugeot 408 ALLURE
As the owner of the 2024 Peugeot 408 ALLURE, I've been driving it for almost three months, and it's been incredibly comfortable to use in Malaysia! The exterior deserves a full score—Lion's claw headlights combined with the fastback coupe design make it a real head-turner every time I park near KLCC. It stands out way more compared to the common Japanese cars everywhere. The interior completely wins me over as well, with the i-Cockpit digital instrument cluster and the 10-inch central control screen giving a strong sense of tech vibe. The Nappa leather seats feel so soft and comfortable, making traffic jams in Kuala Lumpur far from suffocating. I’ll give the performance a 4/5 because the 1.6T turbocharged engine is fantastic for overtaking on highways (like the North-South Expressway), easily passing an MPV in 8.8 seconds. However, during low-speed following in the city, it occasionally feels a bit jerky, but it doesn’t really affect daily driving. In terms of safety, the car comes standard with 6 airbags and active braking. During a recent rainy day in PJ, I nearly rear-ended the car in front, but the system suddenly alerted me and braked automatically—it really saved me in a pinch! Although it doesn't come with L2 advanced driving assistance, the basic safety features are more than sufficient for my needs. Overall, at this price point, being able to get a car that combines great looks, interior quality, and performance makes it so suitable for commuting in Malaysia or weekend trips to Genting. Regret not getting it sooner!

Owner of 2024 Peugeot 408 PREMIUM
As the owner of a 2024 Peugeot 408 PREMIUM, driving in Malaysia for three months, what reassures me the most is its safety features! Recently, on the North-South Expressway, I encountered a car changing lanes abruptly, and the system immediately activated automatic braking, helping me avoid a rear-end collision — you know, unexpected situations happen frequently on Malaysian highways. This active safety system really feels like having an extra "co-pilot safety assistant." All six airbags are standard, and with lane departure warnings, it’s especially calming during long drives on the East Coast Expressway, where I don’t have to worry about losing focus. The interior is even more impressive, stepping inside feels like entering a mini luxury cabin! The fully digital instrument panel is super clear, the 10-inch central control screen operates smoothly, and with Malaysia’s hot weather, the automatic air conditioning cools quickly. The leather seats feel delicate to the touch, and the electric adjustment feature is particularly convenient after my daily school runs with the kids. The rear space is also spacious enough; when taking family to Genting Highlands on weekends, my parents sitting in the back say it’s not cramped at all. The interior quality and attention to detail feel far beyond the car’s price range. Every time friends ride in my car, they can’t help but praise it, and I truly feel choosing this car was the right decision for these reasons!
