The competition in the C-segment market has become increasingly intense in recent years. Consumers not only want enough space and practicality but also have higher expectations for design and performance. The 2024 Peugeot 408 ALLURE, as a crossover model in the C-segment, enters the market with its unique coupe SUV design and a powerful 1.6T engine delivering 218PS. Its extended warranty of 7 years or 200,000 kilometers makes it particularly standout in its class. In this review, we'll evaluate through a test drive whether it can balance unique design with everyday usability.

From the exterior, the design of the 408 ALLURE is highly recognizable. The overall lines lean towards a coupe style, with a sloping roofline descending from the B-pillar. Combined with a 189mm ground clearance, it provides both the off-road capability of an SUV and a more dynamic appearance than traditional sedans. The front adopts Peugeot's signature frameless grille design, with a chrome dot-matrix interior. The sharply styled LED headlights on both sides seamlessly connect with the grille, enhancing the sense of visual wideness. The side of the car features a character line extending from the front fender to the rear, paired with an 18-inch multi-spoke wheel design, adding a sense of power. The rear LED taillights feature a claw-like design, making them highly identifiable when lit, and the small spoiler on the trunk adds a sporty touch to the overall styling.

Entering the cabin, the first thing you notice is Peugeot's iconic i-Cockpit layout. The 10-inch fully digital instrument cluster is positioned above the steering wheel, allowing the driver to see information without looking down. The 10-inch floating central touchscreen, combined with physical buttons, provides intuitive operation. The interior is primarily made of soft-touch materials, with the dashboard and door panels wrapped in leather, giving a pleasant tactile feel. In terms of features, the driver’s seat supports electric adjustment, and the front automatic air conditioning comes with dual-zone control, meeting daily usage needs. For safety, 6 airbags, lane departure warning, active braking, and other features come standard. Additionally, the cruise control system and rearview camera enhance driving convenience.

Space is a key focus for C-segment cars, and the 408 ALLURE offers a wheelbase of 2787mm. Rear legroom is quite spacious — a passenger with a height of 175cm will find about two fists of space between their knees and the front seat. The rear is equipped with air vents; although there's no power outlet, it doesn't significantly impact daily use. The trunk offers a capacity of 536L, and the rear seats can be folded down in a 60:40 split, allowing for expanded storage space to accommodate luggage or large items conveniently.

In terms of performance, the 1.6T turbocharged engine delivers a maximum horsepower of 218PS and a peak torque of 300N·m, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Acceleration response during starts is very quick, and a light press on the accelerator provides a noticeable push-back feeling. The official 0-100km/h acceleration time is 8.8 seconds, and overtaking is effortless during actual driving. Gear shifts are smooth with almost no jerkiness, and the engine runs at a low RPM during highway cruising, helping to reduce fuel consumption. There are three driving modes: Eco, Standard, and Sport. In Sport mode, throttle response is more sensitive, catering to users seeking driving pleasure.

The handling performance is also worth mentioning, with precise steering and minimal play in the steering wheel. The body roll is well-controlled when cornering, and the suspension system is tuned for comfort while maintaining solid support. On bumpy roads, the suspension filters out most of the minor vibrations, ensuring that rear passengers do not feel noticeable jolts. In terms of fuel consumption, actual tests show approximately 8.2L/100km under mixed driving conditions, slightly higher than the official 7.56L. However, considering the 218PS power output, this fuel consumption is still acceptable.

Regarding driving comfort, the seats offer good support with cushioning that is neither too hard nor too soft, making long drives less tiring. Noise control is well-executed, with wind and tire noise barely noticeable during high-speed driving, maintaining a relatively quiet cabin environment. The braking system performs stably, with a moderate braking distance that provides enough confidence.

Overall, the core advantages of the 2024 Peugeot 408 ALLURE lie in its unique coupe-style design, strong power output, and extended warranty. Compared to models in the same class, its power figures are more impressive than many competitors, and the 7-year warranty is also more appealing. This car is suitable for consumers looking for both a distinctive appearance and practical space, especially young family users. It satisfies daily commuting needs while occasionally offering driving pleasure. If you are searching for a model in the C-segment that balances design, performance, and practicality, the 408 ALLURE is worth considering.

Pros
The interior design is technologically advanced with premium materials, featuring abundant soft wrapping. The i-Cockpit full LCD dashboard and 10-inch central control screen look stunning.
The rear space is spacious, accommodating three adults without feeling cramped. The seats offer great support, making long seating comfortable.
The 1.6T turbocharged engine paired with the 8AT gearbox provides strong performance in urban driving. The gear shifts are smooth, and turbo engagement is seamless.
Cons
After exceeding 120km/h, the acceleration pushback feeling weakens, and the power performance is not as strong as at low speed
Occasional delayed response of the safety warning system, such as untimely warnings in sudden situations on country roads
Fuel consumption is higher than official data, about 9L/100km in urban areas, compared to the claimed 7.56L

As the owner of the 2024 Peugeot 408 ALLURE, after driving in Malaysia for three months, the most surprising aspect is the interior! The moment I got inside the car, I was really impressed by the French design – the combination of the i-Cockpit full LCD instrument panel and the 10-inch central control screen feels super high-tech, and the materials feel very premium. There are a lot of soft-touch areas, which is completely unlike cars in this price range. Last week, I took my family to Genting Highlands, and even with three adults in the back row, it didn’t feel cramped. The seat support is just right; after driving two hours on mountain roads, my parents said they didn’t feel tired. I must give full marks for this! In terms of performance, I would rate it 4 out of 5. The 1.6T turbocharged engine is really powerful for driving in Kuala Lumpur city, especially during the morning rush hour when changing lanes and overtaking after traffic jams. When stepping on the accelerator, you can feel the 300N·m torque response, which is very sharp. However, when driving on the highway over 120km/h, the sense of acceleration and thrust becomes a bit weaker. Maybe it’s because I’m used to driving more aggressive cars? But the 8.8-second 0-100 acceleration is completely adequate for Malaysia’s road conditions, and overtaking on the North-South Expressway is no problem at all. Overall, I’m still very satisfied.

As the owner of the 2024 Peugeot 408 ALLURE, after driving for almost half a year in Malaysia, what I want to praise the most is its safety features! Previously, on the North-South Expressway, there was a time when the car in front suddenly braked hard. Before I could react, the automatic braking system stopped me with a "thud," leaving just a few centimeters from the car in front — if it weren't for this feature, it might have ended in a rear-end collision! Plus, it comes standard with six airbags, even with rear side airbags. When taking my family on a drive along the East Coast Highway, it felt especially reassuring. In terms of performance, it’s also quite satisfying. The 1.6T turbo engine performs impressively when overtaking in the bustling streets of Kuala Lumpur, especially during the peak morning traffic on Jalan Ampang. The 8-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly without any jerking. However, when driving over 120 km/h on the highway, the acceleration feels less thrilling compared to when starting from a standstill. But for everyday commuting and weekend trips with the family to places like Genting Highland's mid-levels, the power is more than sufficient, and it climbs hills effortlessly. Overall, I’d rate its safety features as top-notch, and the performance is adequate for everyday needs. At this price point, it’s a great value in the C-segment car category!

As a 2024 Peugeot 408 ALLURE owner, I've been driving in Malaysia for almost half a year, and I think it's fair to give a score of 4 for both safety and performance — performing well, but not to the "wow" level. Starting with safety, there are lots of motorcycles and unexpected situations on the road. Its standard 6 airbags, lane departure warning, and active braking have really helped me a few times. Last time on the LDP highway, the car in front suddenly braked hard, and before I could react, the active braking system kicked in with a “boom.” Although it gave me a little shock, it did prevent a rear-end collision. However, there was one time on a rural road when a stray dog suddenly dashed out from the side, and the warning system reacted half a second late. Thankfully, I hit the brakes in time, but this aspect was a bit disappointing. As for performance, the 1.6T+8AT setup is really powerful for city driving. During peak hours in Kuala Lumpur, the car accelerates and follows smoothly, and the turbo engagement isn’t abrupt either. On weekends, when taking the family to Genting, the ample power for hill climbs is reassuring, without any feeling that the car is just "roaring but not moving." Its official 8.8-second acceleration makes overtaking on highways confident as well. However, the fuel consumption is a bit higher than the official figure of 7.56L; in the city, it’s around 9L, maybe because I tend to have a heavy foot? But overall, I’m still satisfied because the power is worth it. All in all, I feel assured using both features in daily life. If the safety warning could be more sensitive and the fuel consumption a bit lower, it would then be perfect!

As the owner of the 2024 Peugeot 408 ALLURE, after driving for three months in Malaysia, I genuinely feel that I made the right choice with this car! First, let me praise the interior, a solid 5 out of 5—absolutely perfect. Sitting inside feels like entering a small luxury space, the steering wheel is super comfortable to grip, and the fully digital instrument panel connected with the 10-inch central control screen is full of tech vibes. I send my kids to school every day, and Kuala Lumpur’s morning rush hour traffic is terrible. The electrically adjustable driver’s seat can be adjusted to the most fitting position, so even after an hour in the jam, my back doesn’t feel sore. This is a huge plus! For safety, I’d give it 4 points, as its performance is quite decent. On Malaysian highways, you often encounter cars suddenly changing lanes. Its lane departure warning and active braking react pretty timely. Last time on the North-South Expressway, I almost got sideswiped by a truck that abruptly cut in, but the active braking system with its “beep beep” sound helped stop the car, which gave me a scare but really saved the day. However, it would have been even better with a 360-degree panoramic camera. Currently, there’s only a rear camera, which means I have to be really cautious and peek around when reversing in the narrow alleys of Penang. This is a bit of a minor regret. For the exterior, I think 4 points is fair too. The fastback design really stands out among the crowd of sedans in Malaysia, and the LED headlights have great daytime visibility, which draws a lot of attention. Every time I park at KLCC, I notice people turning to look. However, the paint is a bit thin; last time on a roadside in Ipoh, a small stone chipped a tiny spot exposing the base paint. It hurt my heart for a few days. If the paint were thicker, it would be perfect. Overall, this car is very convenient for use in Malaysia. The interior is definitely the highlight, and both safety and exterior are great as well. It’s perfect for daily commuting and taking the family to Genting Highlands on weekends!

As the owner of the 2024 Peugeot 408 ALLURE, I've been driving it in Malaysia for three months, and the overall experience has been quite good! In terms of safety, I would rate it 4 stars, as it comes standard with 6 airbags, lane departure warning, and active braking. Last time in Penang's George Town traffic jam, the car in front suddenly braked hard, and the active braking intervened just in time. It gave me a fright, but there was no crash, which makes me feel very assured. However, it would be better if it had a 360-degree panoramic camera, as parking in the narrow alleys of Kuala Lumpur really tests your skills. I also give the interior 4 stars. The fully digital dashboard and 10-inch center console screen give off a strong tech vibe, and the design of French cars is indeed stylish. The electric adjustable driver's seat is very convenient, and the leather seats feel great to the touch. However, the rear seats are manually adjustable, and if they could be upgraded to electric, it would be perfect. In terms of space, with a wheelbase of 2787mm, three adults can sit in the rear without feeling crowded, and the 536L trunk is spacious enough to fit two large suitcases and a bunch of snacks when going to Genting Highlands for the weekend. I would also rate the performance 4 stars. The 1.6T turbocharged engine and 8AT transmission deliver very responsive power, with a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 8.8 seconds, making highway overtakes in Malaysia very easy. The chassis is tuned for a sporty ride, with minimal body roll when cornering, but going over speed bumps in Kuala Lumpur, the suspension feels slightly firm, which makes the ride a bit bumpy for rear passengers. As for fuel consumption, it averages 7.56L/100km. In city traffic jams, it's about 9L, whereas on the highway, it can drop to 6L. This performance is not bad for a car in this segment. Overall, the 408 ALLURE performs well in safety, interior, and performance. Although there are some minor details that could be improved, getting such configuration at a price of over RM140,000 offers excellent value for money!
