In the increasingly competitive B-segment electric SUV market, Malaysian consumers' demand for all-electric models has gradually shifted from "novelty" to "practicality and reliability" — not only must they meet daily commuting range requirements, but they also cannot compromise on configuration or space. As the core product in this market segment, the 2023 Peugeot e-2008 is positioned with "balanced configuration + European driving quality" as its key selling points. Many potential users are curious whether it can truly balance household practicality with driving pleasure. This test drive will focus on aspects such as exterior recognition, interior practicality, power response, and range performance to reveal how it performs in real-life usage scenarios.

The first impression of the e-2008 is that it retains Peugeot’s family design genes while incorporating details unique to electric vehicles. The front features a large blackened grille, paired with sharp LED lion-eye headlights on both sides. The daytime running lights extend fang-like to the edges of the grille, giving it high recognizability. The side profile is smooth with flowing lines, and the combination of 18-inch dual-tone wheels and 215/55 R18 tires not only enhances the visual layering but also lays the groundwork for improved handling. The LED lion-claw taillights at the rear are highly distinctive when illuminated, and the diffuser-style design under the rear bumper adds a sporty touch. The overall design doesn’t overly pursue a "futuristic feel" but instead emphasizes the steady style characteristic of European cars with refined details.

Inside the car, the interior layout of the e-2008 is simplistic yet focuses on technological flair. The center console is tilted towards the driver, with a 10-inch touchscreen display in the center, offering a smooth operation experience. Below the screen are some physical buttons, allowing for convenient blind operation while driving. In terms of materials, the upper part of the center console is wrapped in soft materials, complemented by metallic trim, providing a touch and visual quality that meets the standard for this price range. In terms of configuration, the car comes standard with HUD head-up display, a full LCD instrument panel, power-adjustable front seats (with heating function), and automatic dual-zone climate control, maximizing practicality. The HUD clearly displays speed and navigation information, reducing the need to look down. Rear air vents and a 220V power outlet cater to the needs of rear passengers as well.

Space performance is a key concern for families. With a wheelbase of 2605mm, the e-2008 offers approximately two fist-widths of legroom in the rear when the front seats are adjusted to a comfortable position. Headroom is also sufficient, and even passengers with a height of 175 cm will not feel cramped during long rides. The trunk has a capacity of 434 liters, which is plenty for storing strollers and suitcases in daily life. The rear seats can be folded down in a 60:40 ratio, providing additional storage space to accommodate moving or transporting goods without any issues. In addition, the interior features multiple storage compartments, such as door storage slots and a central armrest box, making it convenient for storing small items.

In terms of performance, the e-2008 is equipped with a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor that delivers a maximum power of 138 PS and a maximum torque of 260 N·m, paired with a single-speed transmission. The power response is immediate upon starting, offering a noticeable push-back feeling with a gentle press on the accelerator. In daily urban commuting, overtaking and changing lanes are very agile. There are three driving modes to choose from: Eco, Normal, and Sport. Eco mode offers relatively smooth power output and is suitable for those looking to maximize range, while Sport mode amplifies torque responsiveness for more aggressive acceleration. During testing on highways, even when the speed reached 120 km/h, the vehicle retained ample power reserves with no sense of “losing steam.”

The handling and chassis performance are one of the highlights of the e-2008. With a front MacPherson independent suspension and rear torsion beam non-independent suspension combination, the tuning leans towards comfort, while retaining a certain level of support. When going over speed bumps or bumpy roads, the suspension effectively filters out most of the vibrations, without transmitting excessive harsh impacts into the cabin. During cornering, body roll is well-controlled, the steering is precise, and the turning radius is relatively small, making U-turns on narrow roads quite easy. However, on continuously bumpy roads, the rear torsion beam may cause a slight bounce at the rear, but it does not significantly affect overall comfort.

Range and charging are key metrics for electric vehicles. The e-2008 has a battery capacity of 50kWh and an official range of 403km. In our test under mixed road conditions (50% city and 50% highway), with the air conditioning fully on, the actual range was approximately 350km, achieving around 87% of its stated range—considered a decent performance. For charging, using a fast charging station, it takes about 40 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%. In contrast, slow charging takes about 7.5 hours, which meets daily charging needs without issue. Additionally, the energy recovery system has three adjustable levels, with minimal drag feeling at the highest level, ensuring no disruption to the driving experience. Noise control is also well-executed, with wind and tire noise being within acceptable limits during high-speed driving, allowing for normal conversations inside the car without needing to raise your voice.

When it comes to safety features, the e-2008 performs comprehensively: 6 airbags, ABS anti-lock braking, vehicle stability control, lane change assist, lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, and more come as standard. Auto parking assistance and front/rear parking sensors effectively reduce the difficulty of parking. These features are at a mainstream level among vehicles of the same class, providing users with ample safety assurance.

Overall, the core advantage of the 2023 Peugeot e-2008 lies in its "balance": refined appearance, practical interior features, responsive power, comfortable chassis tuning, and comprehensive safety configurations. Compared to similarly ranked models like the Volkswagen ID.3 and Honda e:NS1, the e-2008 stands out with its superior interior quality and driving experience, as well as its richer configurations, offering good value for money.

This car is suitable for family users who value quality of life—it meets daily commuting needs and provides adequate space and comfort for family trips on weekends. At the same time, it also appeals to young users seeking a sense of sophistication, as its European design and tech features align with their aesthetic taste and practical needs. If you are looking for a "well-rounded" B-segment electric SUV with no obvious drawbacks, the e-2008 is worth considering.

As an owner of the 2023 Peugeot e-2008, having driven it for more than half a year in Malaysia, I’d like to talk about two key points: safety and performance. Starting with safety, I’d rate it a 4 because overall performance is indeed solid, but there’s a small detail I think could be improved. Malaysia experiences frequent rainy weather, and occasionally there are puddles on the highway. Once when I braked suddenly, the stability control system responded quickly with no skidding, but the lane assist warning sound was a bit too soft, making it harder to hear in Kuala Lumpur traffic noise. If its volume could be increased, it would be perfect. However, the basic safety features are very comprehensive, with six airbags and active braking included. One time on the LDP highway, the car in front suddenly changed lanes, and the active braking system intervened just in time, really saving me on that occasion—this definitely deserves praise. Now, about performance—it's a full 5 stars with absolutely no issues! As a fully electric vehicle, it’s simply perfect for Malaysia’s road conditions. Driving around PJ city, the acceleration is much faster compared to petrol-powered cars. As the traffic light turns green, it takes the lead effortlessly, and following cars in traffic is extremely smooth. On weekends, when I take my family to Genting Highlands, I initially thought the uphill routes would be a challenge, but the electric motor’s torque is ample, making uphill climbs effortless without any strain. Additionally, the handling is very agile, making U-turns and parking in the narrow streets of Penang a breeze—much easier than the petrol-powered SUVs I used to drive. Overall, if the small detail in safety could be improved, it would be perfect. As for performance, it’s truly flawless on Malaysian roads, and the driving experience is fantastic!

As the owner of the 2023 Peugeot e-2008, after driving it for about half a year in Malaysia, I feel that both safety and performance are quite reliable. Let’s talk about safety first. I’d give it 4 stars because it really gives me peace of mind. On highways in Malaysia, there are occasionally cars that suddenly change lanes, and its lane departure warning will beep as an alert. The automatic emergency braking has also been triggered once—this happened in downtown Kuala Lumpur, where I was following a car too closely; the car in front braked suddenly, and I didn't react in time, but the car itself braked with a "thud," which gave me a scare but prevented a collision. There are also 6 airbags, front and rear sensors, and other features that are quite comprehensive. When taking my kid out, just plugging in the ISOFIX interface gives me much more peace of mind. As for performance, I’d also give it 4 stars. It’s completely sufficient as a family EV. The roads in Malaysia have a lot of ups and downs, especially a hilly section near my home. During uphill starts, the electric motor provides quick torque; a light press on the accelerator and it goes up easily, unlike some petrol cars that feel sluggish. When stuck in city traffic, the single-pedal mode is particularly useful as it reduces the need for frequent braking, making it much easier on the foot. However, after 110 km/h on the highway, the acceleration feels weaker. But since I usually drive on the North-South Expressway at a maximum of 120 km/h, it’s good enough. Overall, the performance in these two areas meets my expectations without major issues, and it’s very handy for daily use.

As an owner of the 2023 E-2008 for half a year in Kuala Lumpur, let me first talk about the exterior—I think giving it 4 points is really fair! The combination of the lion claw headlights and fang-shaped daytime running lights is absolutely stunning. Every time I park at the KLCC parking lot or along Jalan Ampang, I can feel the glances of passersby. However, to be honest, while the side lines of the car are smooth, the 18-inch rims are quite "delicate" when facing the many speed bumps and potholes on Malaysian roads. Going over even a small pothole on Jalan Bukit Bintang requires extra caution to avoid scraping the rims, which is why I deducted some points here. As for the interior, I also give it 4 points! The i-Cockpit cabin feels futuristic, with the 10-inch central control screen and the HUD head-up display, making it especially convenient to view navigation on the LDP highway without having to look down. But there's a small downside—the touch feedback of the central screen is a bit slow. Sometimes, when I'm stuck in traffic on Jalan Tun Razak and want to change songs, I have to press the screen a few times before it responds, which could be improved. Then there's the electronic gear lever. It took some getting used to initially, but now I find it quite handy. Overall, the materials feel solid, with lots of soft-touch surfaces, and sitting inside feels more premium than other EVs in the same price range. All in all, the e-2008 performs pretty well in Malaysia. The exterior is eye-catching, the interior has a premium feel, but there’s still room for improvement in the details. It truly deserves a 4-star rating!

As the owner of a 2023 Peugeot e-2008, having driven it for over half a year in Malaysia, let’s talk about safety first. I give it a 4 because I genuinely feel it's quite reliable. On Malaysian highways, especially on the high-traffic North-South Expressway, you often encounter cars that suddenly change lanes. Its lane departure warning and automatic braking system have saved me once — the car in front braked suddenly, and before I could react, the system automatically helped me slow down, giving me a big scare. It also has 6 airbags and lane change assist. When driving around congested areas like Kuala Lumpur, it alerts me during lane changes if there's a car next to me, providing a great sense of security. However, it would be even better if it included a 360-degree surround view camera. Currently, it only has a rear camera, so when parking in narrow alleys near places like the Petronas Twin Towers, I still have to be very cautious. I deducted some points for this. Next, let’s talk about the interior. A score of 4 is well-deserved here as well. The first impression upon stepping in is that the design feels very refined. The combination of the small steering wheel and the digital instrument panel feels quite premium for its class. With Malaysia’s hot weather, the seats are electrically adjustable, and using the app to remotely turn on the air conditioning before getting in ensures that the seats and steering wheel won't be scorching hot, which is very practical. The rear air conditioning works well too. When taking my family to Genting Highlands during weekends, my parents sitting in the backseat said the air conditioning was strong enough and didn’t feel stuffy. However, there’s a minor drawback: the central control screen sometimes lags a bit, especially after being exposed to the sun; it takes about one or two seconds to respond after tapping. If the system responsiveness could be optimized, it would be perfect. Overall, these two aspects perform quite well, and it's very convenient for daily use.

As a 2023 Peugeot e-2008 owner who has been driving in Malaysia for over half a year, the two aspects I want to talk about the most are the interior and safety. Giving the interior a score of 4 is really fair—it has a very French design feel overall, especially the small-sized steering wheel paired with the i-Cockpit digital dashboard. The first time using it feels refreshing, and after driving for a while, I found that I don’t need to lower my head to check the navigation or speed, which is particularly convenient on roads with heavy traffic like Jalan Ampang in Kuala Lumpur. However, there is a minor issue: the touch feedback of the central control screen is a bit slow. Sometimes when waiting at the LDP toll station and wanting to adjust the air conditioning, I have to tap several times before it responds. If they could optimize the system's smoothness, it would be perfect. The safety aspect absolutely deserves full marks! Last month in George Town, Penang's old town area, a motorcycle suddenly darted out of an alley. The car’s automatic braking feature kicked in and stopped the car steadily—I was so scared I broke out in a cold sweat. Without this feature, I definitely would have hit it. Additionally, features like lane departure warning and lane-keeping assist have been extremely helpful during my long drives on the North-South Expressway. With so many large trucks on Malaysian highways, the system will alert you if you drift even slightly, giving you a great sense of security. Overall, the interior is “good-looking and practical but with details to be improved,” while the safety features really save lives. In a place like Malaysia with complex road conditions, I feel quite reassured having chosen it.
