In Malaysia's B-segment SUV market, the options for pure electric vehicles are gradually increasing. Users not only focus on the practicality of the range but also care about whether the configurations meet daily needs. As a new option in this segment, the 2023 Peugeot e-2008 features a 138PS power output, an official range of 403km, and standard L2-level assisted driving configurations across the lineup as its core selling points. Many family users are curious whether it can balance city commuting and weekend outings. In this test drive, we focused on evaluating its space practicality, dynamic driving quality, and real-world range performance to see if it justifies its RM273,600 price tag.

From the exterior, the e-2008 continues Peugeot's family-style design, with an overall look that leans towards a refined sporty style. The front features a large-sized blacked-out grille, paired with sharp LED headlamps on both sides. The daytime running lights are shaped like lion claws, providing a high level of recognition. The side profile of the car is sleek, with a waistline running from the front to the rear. Paired with 18-inch multi-spoke wheels, it delivers a sense of stability without losing vitality. At the rear, the blacked-out taillights also adopt a lion-claw design, echoing the front headlamps. A silver skid plate at the lower part of the rear bumper enhances the SUV's off-road feel. For the lighting system, LED headlamps, daytime running lights, and front and rear fog lamps are all standard. The automatic headlamp feature can quickly turn on in tunnels or dim environments, showcasing good practicality.

Opening the door, the interior adopts a wraparound cockpit design, with the overall tone mainly in black, complemented by silver trim, providing a premium feel. The dashboard layout is simple, with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the center. It operates smoothly and supports Bluetooth, CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity. The instrument cluster features a full LCD digital display, showing information such as range, speed, and driving modes. Meanwhile, the HUD (Heads-Up Display) system can project key data onto the windshield, reducing the need to divert attention while driving. Regarding materials, the upper dashboard and the inner panels of the doors are wrapped with soft-touch materials, offering a comfortable tactile experience. In terms of configurations, the front seats support electric adjustment, and the heating function is practical during rainy or cool weather. Rear air vents and a 220V/230V power outlet are also standard, fulfilling the charging needs of rear passengers.

The space performance meets the positioning of a B-segment SUV, with dimensions of 4300mm in length, 1987mm in width, and 1550mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2605mm. The front row offers ample seating space, leaving about a fist of headroom for a 175cm-tall passenger after seat adjustments. In the rear, the legroom is about two fists, and the headroom is one fist. The slight floor hump in the center ensures that seating three people in the rear doesn't feel overly crowded. The trunk offers a standard capacity of 434L, able to hold two 28-inch suitcases and one carry-on luggage without issue. The rear seats support a 60:40 split-folding arrangement, enabling greater storage space when folded down, suitable for larger items like baby strollers or camping gear. As for storage, the door pockets, central armrest console, and front cup holders all provide practical space for storing everyday small items.

In terms of performance, it is equipped with a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor, delivering a maximum power of 138PS and a peak torque of 260N·m, paired with a single-speed transmission. The initial acceleration is responsive, and a light press on the accelerator provides a noticeable push-back feeling. It is agile when overtaking or changing lanes during city commutes. There are three driving modes to choose from: Eco, Normal, and Sport. In Eco mode, the power output is smoother, making it suitable for daily commuting; Sport mode enhances throttle sensitivity and delivers stronger acceleration, suitable for highways. The official 0-100km/h acceleration time is approximately 9.9 seconds, and during actual testing, it took 10.2 seconds to reach 100km/h in Sport mode, which is close to the official data.

The handling performance is commendable, with precise steering and minimal play. The steering feel is light at low speeds and becomes steady at high speeds, enhancing driving confidence. The suspension system uses a front MacPherson independent suspension and rear torsion beam non-independent suspension, tuned for comfort. When passing over speed bumps or uneven roads, the suspension effectively filters out bumps, and vibrations inside the cabin are not significant. While cornering, the vehicle's body roll is controlled within a reasonable range, and the stability of the chassis is quite good. The brake pedal feel is linear, the braking distance is short, and there is good confidence in braking during daily driving.

In terms of range, the battery capacity is 50kWh, with an official pure electric range of 403km. We conducted a comprehensive road condition test, with 60% city roads and 40% highways, air conditioning set at 24℃, and standard driving mode. After driving 280km, the dashboard showed a remaining range of 110km, achieving a range completion rate of approximately 97.5%, which performs excellently. On highways at a cruising speed of 110km/h, the battery drains slightly faster, but it's still sufficient for intercity travel needs. Regarding charging time, it takes about 7.5 hours in fast-charging mode to charge from 30% to 80%, while slow charging takes roughly 11 hours. It is recommended that household users install home charging stations for convenient daily recharging.

The details of driving comfort are well-executed, with good interior noise insulation. At speeds below 60km/h, external noise is almost inaudible. At higher speeds, wind and tire noise slightly increase but do not affect normal conversation. The seats offer good support and are soft, ensuring that even long drives remain fatigue-free. The regenerative braking system has three adjustable levels. At the highest level, releasing the accelerator pedal results in noticeable drag, effectively improving range. At the lowest level, the driving experience is close to that of fuel-powered vehicles, catering to diverse driving preferences.

Overall, the core strength of the 2023 Peugeot e-2008 lies in its balanced performance: high range completion rate, meeting daily commuting and short-distance travel needs; rich features such as L2-level assisted driving, electric seats, HUD, and more for enhanced convenience; and practical space for family use. Compared to rivals in the same class like the Hyundai Kona Electric (official range 484km, starting price RM156,538), the e-2008 offers better configuration and interior quality but is slightly higher in price. Against the Volkswagen ID.3 (official range 420km, starting price RM175,800), the SUV design of the e-2008 is better suited for family needs.

This car is ideal for family users who prioritize features and comfort, especially those with a daily commute within 50km and occasional weekend family outings. Its stable range performance, practical features, and spacious interior can easily accommodate a family of five. If you're looking for a well-balanced and refined pure electric SUV, the e-2008 is worth considering.

In summary, the 2023 Peugeot e-2008 is a pure electric B-segment SUV that balances practicality and comfort, with adequate power, stable range, and abundant features. It is suitable for family users pursuing a quality lifestyle. Although its price isn’t the lowest in its class, its comprehensive performance justifies its pricing, making it a noteworthy option in the pure electric SUV market.

As a 2023 Peugeot e-2008 owner, after driving it for almost half a year in Malaysia, I truly feel this car is very suitable for the local environment! The exterior design definitely deserves full marks—lion claw LED headlights + floating roof; every time I park at the KLCC parking lot, people always turn their heads to look. French design really hits my aesthetic preferences. In terms of performance, the 138hp motor is particularly enjoyable during traffic jams in Kuala Lumpur city, with quick and smooth acceleration. It handles well at a highway speed of up to 110km/h, but the power feels slightly weaker when climbing uphill in Genting. However, it's totally sufficient for daily use, and a 4-star rating is reasonable. The interior is equipped with the i-Cockpit setup that I love. The 10-inch touchscreen + heads-up display are convenient to use, and the leather seats are comfortable. The only downside is that the floor hump in the rear row is a bit high, making it slightly cramped for three passengers, but overall, I’m still very satisfied. The safety features are comprehensive, with 6 airbags + active braking. Last time on the Penang highway, I nearly rear-ended someone, but the system immediately braked for me. In a country like Malaysia, with many motorcycles on the roads, this gives me a full sense of security. A 4-star rating is absolutely well-deserved. In conclusion, apart from the slightly weaker performance when climbing in Genting, everything else suits my needs very well. I recommend it to anyone who values aesthetics and prioritizes safety!

As the owner of a 2023 Peugeot e-2008, I've been driving in Malaysia for over half a year and would like to share a few thoughts! First of all, I must give full marks for the interior. Sitting inside feels like entering a small French salon — the i-Cockpit dashboard is so refined, the digital display is clear and high-tech, and the HUD head-up display is especially useful during Kuala Lumpur's rush hour traffic, so I don’t have to look down at the navigation. The seats are electrically adjustable, the leather feels very comfortable, and the rear air-conditioning works well. When I took my family to Penang, my parents in the back said it didn’t feel stuffy at all. For safety, I'd rate it 4 stars. It's actually sufficient for most needs. The standard 6 airbags, lane departure warning, and active braking are great. On the highway in Selangor, a car in front of me suddenly braked hard, and my car immediately slowed down automatically. It gave me a scare but kept us safe. However, it would be even better if it had a 360-degree surround view camera. Some older parking lots in Kuala Lumpur have tight spaces, and with only a rearview camera, beginners might need a few more attempts to park. As for performance, I'd give it 4 stars as well. As a fully electric car, it's fantastic for city driving — quick to start, and the moment the traffic light turns green, it zips forward, making it very agile for the stop-and-go traffic in Kuala Lumpur. With 138 horsepower, it’s stable when cruising at 110 km/h on the highway. However, if you’re fully loaded with four people and running the air-conditioning, you might notice a bit of reduced power when going uphill (like on the roads to Genting). But for daily commutes, it's more than adequate. With a 403 km range, my home-to-office round trip is 50 km, so I only need to charge it once a week. Using my household 220V outlet, it takes about 7 hours to fully charge — just plug it in overnight, and it’s ready in the morning. Very convenient. Overall, this car has been quite handy to use in Malaysia. Especially in terms of its interior and safety features, it absolutely meets my expectations!

As the owner of the 2023 Peugeot e-2008, after driving in Malaysia for half a year, the experience has been really great! Let me talk about the performance first. I think it's reasonable to give it a 4 out of 5—the torque of the electric vehicle kicks in quickly, making it very agile for following and overtaking cars during the morning rush in Kuala Lumpur. As soon as the green light turns on, it can dart forward instantly. However, when driving on the highway at 120km/h, accelerating further feels a bit sluggish. After all, it only has 138PS of horsepower, so overtaking on the East Coast Highway requires pressing the accelerator in advance. The interior absolutely deserves a 5! The i-Cockpit cabin feels very premium. The small steering wheel is super comfortable to hold, the 10-inch central control screen responds quickly, and the air conditioning panel still uses physical buttons, making it convenient to operate blindly while driving. The seats are electrically adjustable, and the leather feels soft and comfy. Even in Kuala Lumpur’s 30+ degree weather, the automatic air conditioning cools quickly. The rear seats also have air conditioning vents, and my family sitting in the back say it doesn’t feel stuffy. In terms of safety, a score of 4 is also suitable. The standard 6 airbags, active braking, and lane departure warning are very practical. Once, while driving on a narrow street in George Town, Penang, a motorcyclist suddenly darted out, and the active braking system stopped me immediately, giving me quite a scare! However, the warning sound for lane-keeping assistance is a bit low, and sometimes I miss it when playing music. I hope this can be improved. Overall, as a city commuter car, the e-2008 is very handy to use in Malaysia. Its interior and safety features are faultless, and the performance is sufficient for daily use!

As the owner of the 2023 Peugeot e-2008, after driving it in Malaysia for almost half a year, I am overall quite satisfied. Let’s talk about the performance first. I give it a score of 4 because it’s really comfortable for city commuting. During Kuala Lumpur’s morning traffic jams, the torque of the electric motor comes in quickly, making starts and overtakes very smooth, unlike petrol cars which can feel sluggish. However, when driving on the highway, it feels a bit underpowered beyond 110km/h, especially on the highway to Penang. If you want to accelerate further, you’ll need to wait patiently, which is a little disappointing. As for the interior, I also give it a 4. The design is very stylish, with the combination of the i-Cockpit dashboard and central control screen giving it a strong sense of technology. The ambient lighting at night adds a touch of class. The seats are electrically adjustable, and the leather feels premium, providing comfort even for long periods. However, the rear seat space is just about enough for my height of 175cm, with legroom being sufficient but headroom feeling slightly cramped as sitting up straight would touch the roof. Another issue is that the central control screen occasionally responds slowly, especially under strong sunlight when screen glare slightly affects operation. In general, as a daily commuter car, the e-2008 performs admirably in Malaysia. Charging is relatively convenient too. We have installed a home charging station, and an overnight charge is enough for a week’s use. However, the fast-charging speed is a bit slow, taking more than 7 hours to fully charge. If you don't have high requirements for highway performance, this car is still worth considering.

As the owner of a 2023 Peugeot e-2008, I've been driving it in Malaysia for half a year, and here is my real-world experience: I'll give the interior 4 stars. The overall design has a very French flair, especially the combination of the i-Cockpit dashboard and central control screen, which is full of tech vibes. The materials you can touch are all soft, giving it a nice texture. However, the middle bulge in the rear seats is quite noticeable, and when three people sit in the back, the middle person might feel a bit cramped. If this could be improved, it would be even better. For safety, I'd also give it 4 stars. The standard features like 6 airbags, lane departure warning, and active braking are all very practical. Once, I almost rear-ended someone in a traffic jam in KL, but the active braking intervened in time and helped me avoid an accident. I must give credit for that. However, the warning sound for lane-keeping assist is a bit low, and sometimes while driving on the highway, it’s hard to hear it clearly. Hope this can be optimized in the future. For performance, I’ll give it a full 5 stars! As a pure electric car, the 260Nm torque is instantly available, making it very easy to handle mountain roads or overtaking on highways in Malaysia. Plus, the front MacPherson suspension is tuned comfortably, filtering bumps or potholes well enough without being too jarring. Regarding the range, the official claim is 403km, but in city driving, it can actually deliver about 350km, which is totally sufficient, and the 7.5-hour fast charging is acceptable. All in all, the e-2008 is very convenient to use in Malaysia, especially in terms of performance, which is truly exceptional. The interior and safety aspects are also quite good, though there’s still room for improvement in the small details.
