Last month, I took my family on a road trip to Penang, and when the sunlight hit the chrome trims on the body while driving on the highway, it looked so premium that my friend even asked if it was a new car. Performance also deserves a 5-star rating! The 1.6T turbo engine perfectly suits the road conditions in Malaysia. During Kuala Lumpur's morning peak-hour traffic, the start and following feel very smooth. On weekends, driving uphill to Genting Highlands, it reaches maximum torque at just 1400rpm, overtaking with no stress at all. Last time, I carried 7 relatives on the East Coast Highway and sped up to 180km/h, yet the car remained very stable — much steadier than my previous Japanese SUV. The fuel consumption was also surprising; in city driving with the air conditioning on, it averages about 8.5L/100km, and on highways, it goes down to 6.8L, perfectly matching the official figures. A 1-star deduction for the interior, mainly due to the details — the response of the 7-inch central screen is slightly slow, sometimes taking 2 seconds to load the navigation. The third-row seats, being fabric, are prone to accumulating dust, so every time kids are inside, I need to vacuum it. Fuel consumption is about 8.5L in urban areas and can achieve 6.8L on highways, which is even more economical than the official figure of 7.3L—very satisfactory for a 7-seater of this size. **Interior** loses one point mainly because of the material in the rear seats. The front row uses soft-touch plastics and leather wrapping, which feel premium, but the middle armrest and the inside of the door panels in the second row are hard plastic, which feels a bit cheap. However, the overall design carries a strong French charm, the fully digital dashboard exudes a sense of technology, and the dual-zone air conditioning cools quickly—much needed for the summer in Malaysia! **Safety** is unquestionable, with 6 airbags and a vehicle stability system. Every time I park at Pavilion Mall, people take a second look. However, the chrome strip at the tail tends to attract fingerprints, and with Malaysia’s humid weather, it looks dull just a few days after washing. This costs it a few points. The interior also gets 4 stars. The i-Cockpit fully-digital instrument cluster is simply amazing! While driving on the North-South Expressway, navigation is projected directly in front of me, so I don’t need to look down at the central screen—a real convenience. The small tray tables in the second row come in handy when taking the kid to Genting; the kid can do homework or put snacks on them securely in the backseat. However, the 7-inch central screen feels a bit small compared to the larger displays of newer models, and the piano black finish on the panel is prone to scratches, requiring careful maintenance. Safety deserves a full score! Last year on the Penang highway, I faced a sudden situation and had to brake abruptly. The vehicle stability control responded quickly, bringing the car to a steady stop without skidding. During peak hours, the road is packed with vehicles, but occasionally I can lightly press on the throttle to overtake – the 1.6T turbo is really responsive, and it reaches maximum torque at just 1400 rpm. Accelerating past 80 km/h on the highway isn’t sluggish either, and overtaking is especially smooth. On weekends, when I bring my family to Genting and drive uphill, the power is very steady. There’s no feeling of “pressing the accelerator but getting no response” – the power feels robust. The fuel consumption is better than I expected as well, around 6.8L/100km on the highway, and roughly 8L in the city with some traffic – it’s completely manageable. In terms of safety, I’d give it 4 stars – overall, it’s reassuring. It comes standard with six airbags, vehicle stability control, as well as front and rear parking sensors and a 360-degree camera – parking in Kuala Lumpur's extremely tight parking lots has become so much easier with the camera assistance! However, I’d deduct points because it doesn’t have autonomous emergency braking (AEB), which is now standard in many newer vehicles. That omission is indeed a bit disappointing.
