Specs

In Malaysia's current pickup truck market, consumers are no longer solely focused on loading capacity; there is an increasing demand for comfort configurations and smart features. As a mid-to-high-end pickup model under the brand, the 2024 Peugeot Landtrek SE targets the niche market of family use combined with light off-road capabilities with higher configuration standards. In this test drive, we focused on its overall performance in daily commuting, family trips, and light unpaved roads.

From the exterior, the 2024 Landtrek SE retains the rugged style of a pickup truck. The front adopts Peugeot's signature shield-shaped grille, complemented by a horizontal chrome strip. The LED headlight group on both sides is connected to the grille, enhancing the visual width. The daytime running lights are designed in a C shape, which is highly recognizable. The side body lines are straight, and the 18-inch wheels paired with 265/60R18 tires balance on-road comfort and light off-road needs. The wheel arches are bordered with black plastic, adding an off-road vibe. At the rear, the LED taillight design is simple and echoes the front design. The rear bumper is equipped with parking sensors and a reversing camera, enhancing practicality. The overall design adheres to the functional positioning of a pickup truck while incorporating the brand's stylish elements.

Inside the cabin, the interior features a symmetrical layout, with the center console wrapped in soft materials and adorned with silver trimming, improving the tactile quality compared to the older model. The 10-inch central touchscreen is positioned atop the center console, featuring a clean and user-friendly interface. It supports Bluetooth, CarPlay, and other functionalities, although its responsiveness is average. The instrument cluster includes a 4.2-inch color display, which shows fundamental information such as fuel consumption and speed. Though compact in size, the information is clearly readable. In terms of configuration, the front seats offer 6-way electric adjustments and 2-way lumbar support. The rear seats adopt a 60:40 split design and can be folded down to expand storage capacity. It is equipped with dual-zone automatic air conditioning, rear air vents, keyless entry/start, and other convenient features, which make daily use more comfortable.

In terms of space, the 2024 Landtrek SE boasts a wheelbase of 3180mm. After adjusting the front seats to a suitable position, a passenger with a height of 175cm has a fist's worth of headroom and plenty of legroom. Rear passengers also enjoy ample legroom, with four fingers of headroom remaining, and the low center floor bump makes it comfortable for three passengers sitting in the back. Regarding storage space, the storage slots on the front and rear door panels can hold water bottles, and the center armrest box has a large capacity. While specific dimensions of the truck bed are not provided, the inherent loading capacity of a pickup ensures that it can meet the needs of family shopping or luggage for short trips without issues.

In the dynamic test drive, the 2024 Landtrek SE is equipped with a 1.9T diesel engine that delivers a maximum power of 150 PS and a peak torque of 350 N·m, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Power delivery is smooth during takeoff, with good low-end torque, making it easy to navigate through congested urban roads. During acceleration, the transmission shifts smoothly and upshifts promptly. However, during rapid acceleration, the power response is slightly delayed, requiring a deep press on the accelerator to experience noticeable thrust. While driving at high speeds, the engine maintains a rotation speed of around 2000 rpm, and fuel consumption performance is decent. The measured fuel consumption under mixed road conditions is approximately 10L/100km, which is close to the official figure of 9.8L/100km.

In terms of handling, the steering wheel has moderate steering effort, average precision, and a slight dead zone, which aligns with the tuning characteristics of a pickup truck. The chassis uses a front double-wishbone independent suspension and a rear leaf spring non-independent suspension. It performs well in filtering out minor bumps on paved roads, but the rear seat experiences noticeable jolts when crossing speed bumps or uneven roads. During high-speed cornering, the body leans significantly, requiring speed control. The four-wheel-drive system performs adequately, offering good grip on lightly unpaved surfaces such as gravel or muddy roads. However, its ability to tackle more complex terrains is limited, making it more suitable for daily commuting and light off-roading.

In terms of safety features, the 2024 Landtrek SE is equipped with 6 airbags, ABS, ESP, lane departure warning, 360-degree panoramic camera, and other functions, bringing its safety performance up to the mainstream level of its class. The active braking system performed well in tests, providing timely alerts and braking when obstacles were detected ahead, reducing the risk of collisions.

Regarding noise control, engine noise is relatively noticeable at idle, and wind and tire noise become apparent at high speeds, somewhat affecting the driving experience. However, it remains within an acceptable range and shows improvement compared to the previous model.

Compared to the 2023 model, the price of the 2024 Landtrek SE is slightly higher, but there are no significant upgrades in configuration; the main changes are optimizations in details. Among its competitors in the same class, the Toyota Hilux boasts a higher resale value, and the Ford Ranger offers better performance, while the 2024 Landtrek SE stands out with its spacious interior and relatively rich features, making it suitable for consumers who value practicality and comfort.

Overall, the 2024 Peugeot Landtrek SE is a balanced pickup truck model that caters to both household and light off-road needs. It features a spacious interior, rich configurations, and sufficient power for daily use. If you are a consumer looking for a pickup truck for daily commuting along with occasional family trips or light off-roading, the 2024 Landtrek SE is worth considering. However, if you have higher demands for performance or resale value, other models in the same class might be more suitable.

Pros
Rich and practical safety configuration, 6 airbags, active braking, lane departure warning, and other functions effectively ensure safety under complex road conditions
High recognition in exterior design, lion claw LED headlights, and tough lines combine off-road ruggedness with sophistication, attracting high attention
Outstanding performance, 1.9T diesel engine provides sufficient power, 4WD system handles muddy/pothole roads well, and ensures stability during high-speed driving
Cons
Some safety features are insufficient, such as insensitive blind-spot monitoring, absence of active braking in some models, and lack of night vision assistance.
The rear design is mediocre, the cargo bed lacks individuality, and the paint is thin and prone to scratches by stones.
The rear seat comfort is inadequate, with firm padding and weak wrapping, causing fatigue during long rides.

As the owner of the 2023 Peugeot Landtrek 1.9D DCAB 4WD AT, I've been driving it in Malaysia for over half a year. Let me first talk about safety, I'll give it a 4 because I really feel it's quite well done. Considering Malaysia's complex road conditions, where urban areas often face unexpected situations and there are occasionally unruly drivers on highways, this vehicle is equipped with 6 airbags, lane departure warning, and an automatic braking system. Once, while driving on the Penang highway, the car in front of me suddenly braked hard, and my vehicle automatically slowed down. It gave me a good scare but thankfully, this feature saved me. However, there's one thing: its blind-spot monitoring doesn't seem very sensitive. Once, when I was changing lanes in Kuala Lumpur city, there was a motorcycle nearby, but the system didn’t alert me. This was a bit disappointing. About the exterior, I'll give it a 4 because its design is indeed very distinctive. The Peugeot family-style front grille, the lion's claw LED headlights, and under the Malaysian sunlight, it looks particularly eye-catching. The body lines are also very rugged, which, for a pickup truck, exudes an off-road ruggedness while still retaining sophistication. But there's one thing, the design of the rear cargo area is a bit conventional—if it could be more personalized, it would be even better. Another thing is the paintwork; although it's quite shiny, it feels a bit thin. Once I parked by the roadside, and a pebble hit it, leaving a small scratch, which is a bit heartbreaking. All in all, in terms of safety and exterior, the Landtrek performs quite well in the context of use in Malaysia. Although there are some small flaws, overall, I am quite satisfied with it.

As the owner of the 2023 Peugeot Landtrek 1.9D DCAB 4WD AT, having driven it in Malaysia for three months, the two aspects I want to talk about most are the exterior and interior. I would rate the exterior a 4. The front design has a strong sense of Peugeot's family style, and the claw-shaped LED headlights have a very high recognition factor in Kuala Lumpur's evening traffic. Every time I park near the Pavilion parking lot, I can feel the gaze of passersby. However, the rear design feels a bit plain. Compared to the locally common Hilux, it lacks that rugged, tough pickup truck vibe. If the taillights were more aggressive, it would be perfect. As for the interior, I must give it full marks! Sitting inside feels nothing like a traditional pickup. The 10-inch infotainment screen is very responsive; using CarPlay for navigation on the LDP highway is super convenient and doesn’t lag. The biggest surprise is the seats, with six-way electric adjustment and lumbar support. Last week, I drove to Genting Highlands, and despite a three-hour round trip, my back didn’t feel sore at all—way more comfortable than my previous car. The rear air-conditioning vents are very practical too. With Malaysia's hot weather, when I took my family to Malacca, the kids in the back seat no longer complained about the heat. Overall, while the exterior may not be the most stunning, the interior’s quality and practicality truly exceeded my expectations. Among local pickup trucks, it shows a lot of sincerity.

As the owner of the 2024 Peugeot Landtrek SE for three months in Malaysia, I genuinely feel that this pickup truck is a perfect match for the local roads! First of all, the interior deserves a solid 5 stars without hesitation—the 10-inch central control screen responds quickly, and CarPlay makes connecting to phone navigation super convenient when heading to Kuala Lumpur city center. The dual-zone automatic air conditioning in the front row is incredibly practical. I set it to 18 degrees to beat the heat, while my wife in the passenger seat adjusts it to 24 degrees because she's afraid of the cold—everyone's happy. The most delightful surprise is that the rear row also has independent air vents. Last time, we took my parents to Penang, and they sat in the back without complaining about the heat at all. This thoughtful feature is better than many pickups in the same price range. The seats are leather, with 6-way electric adjustment and lumbar support. Even on long trips (such as from Selangor to Ipoh), there's no backache, and the attention to detail is remarkable. I would rate the exterior 4 stars. The overall design feels very grand, with high-recognition LED headlights and daytime running lights. Driving at night on suburban roads in Shah Alam is quite eye-catching. However, the rear design is a bit conventional. If the tail lights could be sharper, it would be even more perfect. That said, it’s adequate for daily use, and parking at malls in Klang still catches some attention. Safety deserves full marks! During the rainy season in Malaysia, roads tend to be slippery. Last time I encountered sudden heavy rain on the North-South Expressway, the vehicle stability system responded quickly, and there wasn’t even a hint of slipping. With six airbags, front and rear sensors, and a 360-degree camera, parking on narrow roads like Jalan Bukit Bintang in Kuala Lumpur is no longer intimidating, even for new drivers who worry about scratches. Last week, I took my child to kindergarten, and the ISOFIX anchors provided absolute stability—top-notch safety indeed. Overall, this pickup truck performs exceptionally well on Malaysian roads (be it highways, city streets, or even occasional rural paths). The interior and safety features truly exceeded expectations!

As the owner of the 2024 Peugeot Landtrek SE for nearly three months, I truly feel this car is incredibly practical in Malaysia! First, let's talk about the performance. I think a score of 4 is quite fair. The 1.9T diesel engine performs steadily on highways, whether overtaking or climbing hills, especially on Kuala Lumpur's highways. Acceleration is very linear and doesn't feel abrupt. However, in urban traffic, the throttle response occasionally feels a bit slow, possibly due to the vehicle's weight? But it's fuel-efficient on long trips, with a fuel consumption of about 9.8L per 100km, which is already impressive for a vehicle of this size. The exterior definitely deserves a 5! The design really resonates with me, especially the front "lion claw" LED headlights with super high recognition. Driving out at night garners a lot of attention. The body lines are rugged yet refined, blending perfectly with Malaysia's tropical rainforest scenery. During a weekend road trip to the east coast, I parked by the beach to take pictures, and my friends all said the vehicle's looks are stunning. Overall, the Landtrek SE performs very reliably on Malaysian roads, and its exterior is definitely a bonus. I recommend it to friends who love rugged SUVs and also value aesthetics!

As the owner of the 2024 Peugeot Landtrek SE, after driving in Malaysia for three months, the thing I want to praise most is its interior and exterior aesthetics! The exterior design really hits my sweet spot—with the family-style Peugeot claw headlights paired with the tough pickup truck lines, whether parked at the KLCC parking lot or by the beaches of Sabah, it attracts far more attention than Japanese pickups of the same price range. My friends all say, "This pickup doesn’t look like a utility vehicle; it’s more like a fun toy for going out." The interior is even more impressive. The 10-inch central control screen and dual-zone automatic air conditioning feel very premium. The front seats even come with electric adjustments and lumbar support. Last time, I took my family on a drive from Kuala Lumpur to Genting Highlands, and after three hours on the road, there was no back pain at all. The rear air conditioning is also powerful; neither the elderly nor the kids in the back complained about being hot. It completely lacks the roughness of traditional pickups. A full score of 5 is well-deserved! In terms of safety, I'm quite satisfied. After all, I’m traveling with my family. The 6 airbags, lane departure warning, and 360-degree camera are all very practical. Last month, while reversing in a narrow lane in Penang, the 360-degree camera helped me avoid a motorcycle that suddenly appeared. Last week, while on the North-South Expressway, I was distracted and almost crossed the line, but the lane departure warning's "beep-beep" sound immediately brought me back to attention. These features are really considerate given Malaysia's complex road conditions. However, I’d deduct one point because I feel that the active braking function is not included as standard. Sometimes in Kuala Lumpur’s traffic jams, when the car in front suddenly brakes, it still depends on my quick reflexes. I’d feel more at ease if active braking were standard. Overall, a score of 4 seems reasonable.
