MG
MG is a British automotive brand with a rich history dating back to the 1920s when it was founded by Cecil Kimber. Initially known for its open two-seater sports cars, MG expanded its lineup to include saloons and coupés, featuring engines with capacities up to three litres. Notably, the MGB GT V8 boasted a 3.5 L engine. The brand's origins trace back to Morris Garages, a retail sales and service centre in Oxford. Cecil Kimber, the manager, played a pivotal role by modifying standard Morris Oxfords and introducing the iconic MG Super Sports model. In July 1930, M.G. Car Company Limited was officially incorporated and remained under Morris's ownership until July 1935, when it was sold to Morris Motors Limited. Over the years, MG experienced changes in ownership, with Morris's Nuffield Organization merging with Austin to form the British Motor Corporation Limited (BMC) in 1952. The MG Division of BMC was established in 1967, and the brand became part of the British Leyland Motor Corporation (BLMC) following the 1968 merger. Successive changes in ownership led to the formation of the MG Rover Group, which faced financial challenges and entered receivership in 2005. Chinese state-owned automaker SAIC Motor Corporation Limited currently owns the MG marque, acquiring it along with other assets of MG Rover in 2007. Production resumed in China in 2007, and the UK saw the launch of the MG 6 in 2011, marking the first new MG model in the country in 16 years. Today, MG continues its legacy as a British-born brand now under Chinese ownership.
