【PCauto】Since its launch in Malaysia in December 2024, the MG Cyberster has racked up over 90 orders, making the country the top-selling market for the model across Asia-Pacific and Oceania, excluding China.

A Striking Fusion of Classic Roadster Style and Bold Innovation
As the world’s first all-electric soft-top convertible with scissor doors, the MG Cyberster turns heads with its bold and avant-garde design. It challenges the conventions of the traditional sports car segment.

This model combines the classic proportions of a roadster with modern electric aesthetics and has drawn plenty of attention on the streets of Malaysia.
Its signature scissor doors are not only a visual statement but also showcase MG’s engineering capabilities in the electric era through a precisely tuned electric opening and closing mechanism.

Market feedback indicates that the Cyberster's design has broad appeal beyond traditional sports car buyers, drawing interest from a diverse range of customers including tech enthusiasts, designers, and young entrepreneurs.
One early owner in Kuala Lumpur shared: "This isn’t just a car, it’s a piece of moving art. Every time I open the doors, I can feel people staring with admiration. That’s something a traditional sports car just can’t offer."

The Driving Pleasure of the Electric Sports Car Era
Beneath its striking exterior, the MG Cyberster offers two powertrain configurations to cater to different driving preferences. The rear-wheel-drive version delivers 340 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5 seconds. The all-wheel-drive variant, with a combined output of 544 horsepower, cuts that time down to 3.2 seconds and puts it firmly in supercar territory.
Importantly, this electric roadster is more than just fast in a straight line. Thanks to a carefully tuned suspension system and a near 50:50 weight distribution, it offers confident handling and true driving engagement even on winding mountain roads.

The MG Cyberster’s 77kWh NCM battery pack offers up to 508 kilometers of WLTP range in the rear-wheel-drive version, easily covering weekend trips. With support for 150kW fast charging, it only takes 38 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%, helping to ease range anxiety.
MG Motor Malaysia’s marketing director shared, “We expected customers to lean toward the higher-performance all-wheel-drive model. However, sales data shows the rear-wheel-drive version is more popular, thanks to its longer range and attractive price of 299,900 MYR. It accounts for 60 percent of total orders.”

MG Cyberster Earns Top Honors and Boosts Market Presence
The MG Cyberster has won a series of prestigious international awards, including the Good Design Award, Red Dot Design Award, and iF Design Award. These accolades not only confirm its design excellence but also reinforce MG’s position in the premium electric vehicle market.
With orders steadily rising, MG Motor Malaysia plans to step up its market efforts. This includes expanding its showroom network and increasing the number of test drive vehicles. The company also aims to launch more MG electric models by the end of 2025, strengthening its lead in Malaysia’s EV market.
