[PCauto] As Mitsubishi's sales pillar in the global market, the Outlander PHEV has undergone a highly sincere mid-cycle facelift. Mitsubishi Motors North America has officially announced the official pricing and detailed specifications of the 2026 Outlander PHEV, with a starting price set at $44,990 (approximately 176,000 MYR).
Compared to the 2025 model, the threshold for entry has increased by $2,845 (12,000 MYR).
Although the price has risen, it brings comprehensive advancements in battery capacity, thermal management system, and overall power output.

Power increased to 297 horsepower
The most striking change in this facelift is not the slight exterior tweaks, but the powertrain within the chassis.
The 2026 Outlander PHEV is equipped with a larger 22.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is approximately 15% larger than the previous 20 kWh version.
The more significant change lies in Mitsubishi equipping the new Outlander PHEV with an entirely new battery cooling system and a more advanced thermal management architecture.
This cooling system is not just for show; it allows the motor to operate at high power for a longer duration.
According to official data, the combined system output of the new car has leapt from last year's 248 hp to 297 hp. Such a leap in performance is exceptionally rare for a model undergoing an annual update.
Meanwhile, its pure electric range has increased from 61 kilometers to 72 km, which is sufficient to cover the daily commuting needs of most urban owners.

The interior becomes more refined
The 2026 model continues the high standards set by the 2025 fuel model.
To shed the prior "cheap feel" label, Mitsubishi has put considerable thought into the interior materials and ergonomics.

The most notable change is the newly developed audio system in collaboration with Yamaha. The entry-level and mid-range models feature an 8-speaker version, while the top-tier SEL Platinum offers a 12-speaker Ultimate high-end experience.
In terms of details, the central armrest's storage space has been redesigned, and the cup holder's position has been adjusted for more convenient placement of large-sized water bottles.
Additionally, the power of the wireless charging panel has been optimized, and front-seat ventilation has been introduced for the first time in some high-end models.
Although these features may seem minor, they significantly enhance comfort during long-distance driving.

For families who are not yet ready to fully embrace pure electric vehicles but still pursue driving quality, this 2026 Outlander PHEV update is undoubtedly one of the most noteworthy plug-in hybrid SUVs of the year.
