【PCauto】BMW Group CEO Oliver Zipse announced that BMW plans to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) technology from Chinese startup DeepSeek into its China-market vehicles starting later this year.
Zipse stated that BMW is strengthening collaborations in AI to improve its vehicles sold in China. BMW will integrate DeepSeek's AI into new its models launched in China this year.

Since 2025, intelligent new energy vehicles (NEVs) have grown rapidly, with multiple automakers already adopting DeepSeek's large language models (LLMs). Despite being founded less than three years ago, DeepSeek has gained recognition for its natural language processing capability and code-generation models. The company has strong expertise in industrial applications of LLM technology and has secured partnerships with Chinese automakers including BYD, Geely, and GWM.

BMW's adoption of DeepSeek's AI marks a significant progress in its strategy of smart vehicle. DeepSeek specializes in advanced deep learning models that can analyze data to optimize the driving experience.
Industry analysts note that BMW's move meet the growing consumer demand for intelligent vehicles.

Once DeepSeek's natural language processing technology is intergrated into BMW's intelligent cockpit systems, the vehicle will provide more accurate functions like voice control, contextual service recommendations, and personalized travel assistance.
Compared to other AI technologies around the world, DeepSeek's AI has significant advantages in Chinese language understanding, dialect recognition, and local service integration.

For smart interaction, DeepSeek AI enables smoother, more clear in-car voice commands with emotional recognition.
Navigation systems will also be upgraded, offering optimized route planning. In driver assistance, the AI enhances the vehicle's environmental perception—boosting detection accuracy and speed for pedestrians, vehicles, and obstacles—while working alongside existing safety systems to improve overall protection.
