H1 2024 in Thailand’s auto market: Toyota dominates, BYD emerges as a strong contender

The Thai car market is facing with severe situation, its sales plummeting nearly a quarter in the first seven months. Specific data shows that from January to July this year, a total of 354,277 vehicles were sold in Thailand, a year-on-year decrease of 23.7%. Among them, the decline of pickup trucks and SUVs was particularly significant, falling by 39.6% and 42.5% respectively.
Among the 12 car brands with the highest sales in January to July this year, Toyota ranked first. Among the top 12, Japanese cars occupied seven seats. It is worth mentioning that Chinese car manufacturers began to show an upward trend. BYD ranked fourth with a sales volume of 17,421. And Chinese manufacturers occupied four of the top 12 spots.
