[PCauto] For collectors who have the first-generation NSX in their garage, one recent industry development stands out: Honda's shifting attitude toward its own classics.
With the Honda Heritage Works department officially entering its operational phase, this legendary model that marked the beginning of the Japanese supercar era has finally welcomed systematic factory maintenance support.
According to the latest announced plan, factory reproduction parts for the first-generation NSX (NA1/NA2), produced between 1990 and 2005, will officially be available for order starting this summer through Acura authorized dealerships.
For a long time, owners of such classic cars often relied on increasingly scarce second-hand dismantled parts or aftermarket parts of varying quality to maintain their vehicles. The reopening of official channels means these high-aged performance cars will regain access to high-quality parts support.

Two Reproduction Methods for Parts
Under the Honda Heritage Works system, reproduced parts are meticulously divided into two technical pathways.
First are Genuine Honda Heritage Reproduction Parts, which strictly follow the original design drawings from the time, using the same materials and manufacturing processes to ensure 100% authentic replication.
What's even more meaningful for owners are the Genuine Honda Heritage Compatible Parts.
Faced with challenges such as disrupted supply of raw materials from 30 years ago or the closure of original suppliers, Honda chose to reconstruct using modern technology rather than settling for simple substitutes.
Taking the example of the ABS pump motor from the early NSX models, which was highly prone to aging faults and had exhausted stock, the new parts now utilize more stable modern electronic components. While perfectly matching the original installation positions, their reliability and responsiveness even surpass the original parts from back then.

Even providing full vehicle restoration services
Beyond its global parts supply network, Honda is going even further in its home market of Japan.
Takanezawa Plant in Tochigi Prefecture, the birthplace of the first-generation NSX, has now officially been designated as the global technical hub for Honda Heritage Works.
Here, not only are reproduction parts quality-tested, but the upgraded Honda Restoration Service is also offered.
This service is led by experienced technicians, providing customized solutions ranging from powertrain rebuilding to full chassis restoration.
Among them, the highest level Total Restoration disassembles the vehicle down to the white body state for comprehensive rust removal, anti-corrosion treatment, and repainting.
Although full vehicle restoration services are currently limited to the Japanese domestic market, the large-scale availability of reproduction parts is sufficient to alleviate the issues of high NSX repair costs and long processing times globally.

Japanese car brands collectively reviving production of parts for older models
As the value of the global classic car market continues to climb, the transaction price of the first-generation NSX has long gone beyond the scope of being merely a second-hand car, gaining significant asset value.
At the same time, Toyota's GR Heritage Parts and Nissan's NISMO Heritage programs have long been implemented.
Honda has explicitly stated that it is evaluating the expansion of reproduction to other high-collection-value performance models such as the Integra Type R and S2000.
These actions essentially represent car manufacturers' exploration of their cultural assets, which is a lucrative aftermarket business.

Although the price of original factory reproduction parts is usually much higher than aftermarket alternatives, and the supply cycle of some precision components may be relatively long, for collectors pursuing ultimate completeness, the reassurance brought by official standard parts and the restoration of the vehicle's original performance are irreplaceable by any third-party channel.
The first-generation NSX represented Honda's golden age full of idealism, and with the reconnection of the original factory supply line, this all-aluminum supercar is expected to continue showcasing its unique mechanical charm on the road for decades to come.
