【PCauto】 To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the CR-V model, Honda launched the all-new CR-V Dream Pod model in Europe on April 9, 2025. Inspired by Japanese capsule hotels, this model deeply integrates adventurous spirit with practical livability, creating a mobile camping companion that combines mobility and comfort for global users.
The core design concept of the CR-V Dream Pod stems from the compactness and efficiency of Japanese capsule hotels, aiming to deliver a multi-functional experience within limited cabin space. The EGOE Nestboard 650 kit in the vehicle can be expanded into a double bed mattress, satisfying the rest needs of two adults. In addition, the hidden drawer contains a stove and a folding sink, supporting basic cooking and washing functions.
The exterior design of the CR-V Dream Pod focuses on functionality. The roof rack and Thule bike rack make it easy to carry outdoor gear like kayaks, tents and mountaineering equipment.
Under rainy and humid condition, the rubber floor mats and moisture-proof storage compartments in the CR-V Dream Pod can effectively cope with sudden rainfall or muddy environments. The pull-out side table adapts to beach or camping scenarios, facilitating outdoor dining or electronic device placement—enhancing the vehicle's overall practicality.
The CR-V Dream Pod is built on the CR-V e : PHEV platform, equipped with a 2.0L four-cylinder engine, electric motor, and 17.7kWh battery, delivering approximately 79 km of pure electric range (WLTP standard). In the parked state, the battery can also ensure the operation of the air conditioning, achieving a camping mode similar to that of Tesla.
Although the CR-V Dream Pod is currently positioned as a concept model, its design and functional configuration have attracted widespread consumers' attention. The Honda CR-V has long held a prominent position in the mid-size SUV market in Thailand and Malaysia. In 2024, CR-V sales in Thailand increased by 12% year-on-year, making it the top-selling Mid-Size SUV in Malaysia, with a 36% segment share.
