After the preview in August, the MG5 officially made its debut in the Malaysian market. SAIC Malaysia has set a compelling market position for this eye-catching C-class sedan: providing a luxury experience of a C-class car at the price point of a B-class car. The CBU model imported from Thailand has a base price of RM93,900, which drops to RM86,900 after promotional discounts, close to the price of a Honda City, but closer in size to a Honda Civic.
The size of the MG5 rivals that of the Honda Civic FE, with a body length of 4,675 mm, a width of 1,842 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,680 mm. Although the wheelbase is slightly shorter than that of the Honda Civic, its trunk space reaches 401 litres, providing ample storage capacity.

In terms of power system, the MG5 is equipped with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine, producing 114 horsepower and 150 Nm of torque, and matching with a CVT gearbox, offering a power output comparable to its peers. Although it may not be as powerful as the Honda Civic, it's sufficient for daily driving needs.
On the configuration side, the MG5 performs well, equipped with LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, luxury leather interiors, automatic air conditioning, cruise control, electronic parking brake, electric sunroof, 6-way electric driver's seat, 7-inch digital instrument panel, 10.25-inch central control touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and advanced features such as 360-degree panoramic imaging. In addition, the introduction of the MG Pilot safety suite provides extra assurance for driving safety.

In terms of price competitiveness, MG5 undoubtedly holds an advantage. Compared with equivalent models, MG5 demonstrates significant superiority in configuration and size. All in all, MG5 is a model with great cost performance. It not only has the appearance and space of a C-class car, but also offers rich configuration at the price of a B-class car. For consumers who pursue large space, high configuration, and excellent cost performance, MG5 is a good choice.
