All-New Perodua Bezza Coming 2025: Built on Advanced DNGA Platform

LienJun 04, 2025, 06:19 PM

【PCauto】Perodua has officially confirmed it will launch a "Full Model Change" (FMC) vehicle this year, which adopts a complete redesign of existing models. Analyzing the product life cycle - among the Axia, Bezza, Myvi, Alza, Ativa and Aruz lineup - and excluding the relatively newer Axia, Alza, Ativa and the seemingly discontinued Aruz, the Bezza and Myvi emerge as the prime candidates for this model change.

While the Myvi received an update in 2023, the current Bezza - which has been on the market for nearly seven years - is most likely to be the model getting this full redesign, though there was 2023 reports suggesting the Bezza wouldn't be updated until 2025.

DNGA Platform Boosts Rigidity by 30%, Design Inspired by Yaris Ativ

The next-generation Bezza is expected to adopt the DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture) modular platform developed primarily by Daihatsu, sharing technological foundations with the third-generation Axia launched in 2023.

This platform offers three main advantages: approximately 30% improved body rigidity through optimized frame structure, more rational cabin space allocation via redesigned chassis layout, and enhanced driving dynamics from adjusted suspension geometry.

The new model is likely to feature an "X"-shaped family front grille design, with LED headlight clusters and a sporty rear styling probably inspired by the Toyota Yaris Ativ. While overall dimensions may see slight increases, the vehicle will maintain its A-segment classification, preserving its core positioning as a people’s car.

Upgraded Tech & Safety

The next-generation Bezza will show significant upgrades in technology and safety features. The interior is expected to receive major tech enhancements, likely equipped with a full digital instrument cluster and a floating central touchscreen - a substantial improvement over the current model's physical gauge cluster and integrated display.

For driving safety, the new model may adopt the advanced ASA 3.0 (Advanced Safety Assist) system, integrating active safety features like Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW). If implemented, these features would significantly raise the safety benchmark for vehicles in its class.

1.2L Engine Only with More Power

The powertrain overhaul is equally noteworthy, as the current 1.0L/1.3L engines are likely to be replaced by a 1.2L WA-VE naturally aspirated engine paired with a D-CVT transmission. This powertrain combination has already demonstrated a 15% power increase and approximately 10% improvement in fuel efficiency of Daihatsu models.

However, speculation about a hybrid variant should remain caution. While Perodua has introduced the Ativa Hybrid, cost control remains a significant challenge for implementing hybrid systems in B-segment sedan platforms.

Base Price May Rise to RM38K

The new model will maintain Perodua's pragmatic strategy. The expected price range of RM38,000 to RM40,000 shows a moderate increase from the current model's starting price of RM34,580, primarily caused by upgrades in platform and configuration.

This pricing strategy is to compete with its main competitor, the Proton Saga MC3, as the intense "people’s car" competition in Malaysia continues to heat up.

New Bezza Is Coming in the Second Half of 2025

It should be noted that considering Perodua's typical practice of launching key models between August and November, combined with supply chain preparation cycles, the second half of 2025 appears to be the most likely debut period.

Overall, it’s highly possible that Perodua Bezza model will experience upgrades, mainly focusing on economic practicality and daily reliability. Its adoption of DNGA platform is expected to improve driving experience and safety performance. In addition, the 1.2L powertrain will deliver a more satisfactory driving experience while maintaining fuel efficiency.
