In the first quarter of this year, Proton's total sales reached 35,068 units, capturing an 18.9% market share within the Malaysian automotive industry, which had total sales of 184,652 vehicles during the same period.

Several models under the Proton brand saw sales growth. In the sedan category, the Proton S70 stood out, with March sales hitting 2,125 units, a remarkable 77.5% increase from February, bringing its first-quarter total sales to 4,465 units. The S70's combination of design aesthetics, performance advantages, and practicality has precisely targeted consumer groups, appealing to young professionals and families.

The SUV lineup also performed impressively, with the Proton X90 achieving a 73.6% increase in sales in March, reaching 302 units, solidifying its position in the D-segment SUV market. Meanwhile, the Proton X50 maintained its top spot in the best-selling SUV category with March sales of 1,858 units. The Proton X70 continued to show steady growth, with a month-on-month increase of 11.9% in March, totaling 835 units, resulting in a year-on-year growth of 52% with 2,158 units sold in the first quarter.

Additionally, the affordable Proton Saga achieved its best monthly performance of the year in March, selling 6,154 units, while the Persona and Iriz models also surpassed single-month sales peak with 1,482 and 337 units sold, respectively.

Electric vehicles are emerging as a new growth highlight for Proton. Since its launch, the e.MAS 7 has quickly gained market recognition, with March sales adding 797 units, bringing its total domestic and international sales for the first quarter to 1,853 units, successfully entering the ranks of best-selling electric vehicles in Malaysia.

Proton's export volume surged to 417 units in March, reflecting a 211% increase compared to the same period last year. This contributed to an 11.4% rise in quarterly exports compared to the previous year, with the Saga model performing notably well in overseas markets, serving as a key driver of export growth.
Roslan Abdullah, CEO of Proton Edar, stated that the month-on-month increase in Proton vehicle sales in March was supported by active promotional activities and high-quality service provided by the dealer network. Building on a solid start to the first quarter, Proton plans to launch several new models in the second quarter of 2025, continuously optimizing its product structure and deeply exploring market potential. The goal is to provide Malaysian consumers with a richer and higher-quality automotive product range, further enhancing brand competitiveness to maintain an edge in future market competition and achieve sustainable, steady growth.
