Seoul trictly ontrols lectric vehicles: entry to underground garages prohibited at 90% battery Level

The Seoul city government in South Korea is planning to introduce a new regulation to strengthen the safety management of electric vehicles in response to recent electric vehicle fire incidents. According to the regulation, starting from the end of September, electric vehicles with a battery charge exceeding 90% will be prohibited from entering underground parking lots. In addition, public fast-charging facilities in Seoul will also limit the charging limit to 80%, and will gradually be promoted to privately operated charging facilities.
The move comes after a Mercedes-benz EQE electric car caught fire in the underground parking lot of an apartment building in Seoul earlier this month, triggering a fire that damaged 880 vehicles and left 1,600 households without water and electricity for a week, causing serious property damage.
