【PCauto】 Toyota plans to launch the 2026 Toyota Corolla Hatchback FX. The most distinctive feature of the vehicle is its appearance, which recalls consumers' memory of the 1987 Corolla FX16.
From its appearance, many design details of the 2026 Corolla Hatchback FX pay homage to the 1987 FX16.
Built on the SE trim level of the standard Corolla Hatchback, Corolla Hatchback FX is equipped with a vented black rear spoiler that not only enhances its sporty appeal but also improves its aerodynamic performance.
The nostalgic rear badge tells a story of heritage, recalling memories for classic car enthusiasts. The 18-inch bright white alloy wheels paired with black lug nuts create a bold and distinctive look, ensuring the car stands out on the road.
Despite not being upgraded in power, the familiar 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine of the Corolla still provides stable and reliable performance. With 169 horsepower and 205N·m of power, it is sufficient for daily driving, whether navigating city streets or cruising on highways. Toyota estimates a combined fuel efficiency of 14.03 km/L, offering excellent fuel economy that appeals to cost-conscious consumers.
In interior space, the Corolla Hatchback FX retains its classic interior style while incorporating many unique design elements. Orange contrast stitching runs across the seats, steering wheel, shift boot, and door panels, adding a vibrant feeling to the cabin.
The new black sporty seat features a grippy velour leather pad, which not only improves the comfort of the seat but also better secures the body during intense driving, providing a safer and more comfortable driving experience. However, unlike the FX sedan version, the Corolla Hatchback FX still adopts a smaller 8.0-inch infotainment screen, while the sedan is equipped with an all-new larger 10.5-inch display.
Toyota has announced its plan to produce only 1,600 units of Corolla Hatchback FXs, making it a very rare limited-edition model with significant collectible value. It's expected to go on sale in North America this fall.
