In recent years, the competition in Malaysia's C-Segment SUV market has become increasingly intense. Consumers value both practicality in space and higher demands for power performance and smart features. The 2019 Honda CR-V 1.5TC 4WD, as a popular model in this segment, highlights a 193PS turbocharged engine, full-time four-wheel drive system, and a wealth of active safety features as its core selling points. Many family users and driving enthusiasts are curious about its real-world performance. This test drive will comprehensively evaluate the car, from its static design and space practicality to its dynamic driving experience, providing readers with an authentic review of the vehicle's capabilities.

In terms of appearance, the 2019 CR-V 1.5TC 4WD presents an overall style that leans towards stability while incorporating youthful details. The front face adopts Honda's family design, featuring a large chrome grille paired with wing-shaped LED headlights, providing high recognition; the trapezoidal air intake below the front bumper and the black trim on both fog lamp areas enhance the sporty feel. The side profile of the vehicle has smooth lines, with the combination of 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels and 235/60R18 tires ensuring both off-road capability and visual appeal; the roof rack and chrome trim beneath the door add a refined touch to the car. At the rear, the LED taillights feature an L-shaped design, echoing the headlights; the silver skid plate and dual exhaust outlets on the rear bumper further reinforce the SUV's rugged character.

Entering the cabin, the interior features black as the main color tone, complemented by silver trims and soft-touch materials, offering an overall texture that aligns with the positioning of this vehicle segment. The center console is designed with a simple layout, with a 7-inch touchscreen placed in the central position. It is smooth to operate and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; some physical buttons are retained below for ease of operation while driving. The instrument panel is fully digital, providing clear display and allowing interface styles to change according to different driving modes, presenting vehicle status intuitively. In terms of features, the front row is equipped with dual-zone automatic climate control, and the rear row also has independent air vents and power outlets, meeting the needs of both front and rear passengers. The driver’s seat supports electric adjustment, and the rear seats can be folded in a 60:40 split and manually reclined, enhancing spatial flexibility. Additionally, keyless entry, push-button start, rain-sensing wipers, and other functionalities are standard, making daily use convenient.

In terms of space performance, the 2019 CR-V 1.5TC 4WD has body dimensions of 4584mm×1855mm×1689mm and a wheelbase of 2660mm, placing it in the upper middle range among its class. The front row offers spacious seating, with a passenger of 175cm height still having more than a fist of headroom left after adjusting the seat. The rear legroom is ample, with approximately two fists of space between the knees and the front seats, and the headroom is also quite generous, ensuring comfort even for long rides. The trunk has a standard capacity of 522 liters, which can be expanded by folding down the rear seats, enough to hold luggage for family trips or large items. As for storage compartments, the front and rear door pockets, central armrest box, glove compartment, and other spaces are designed rationally, easily accommodating items such as phones, water bottles, and other everyday essentials.

In terms of power, it is equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged engine that delivers a maximum power of 193PS and a maximum torque of 243N·m, paired with a CVT gearbox and a full-time four-wheel-drive system. During actual driving, the power response in the starting phase is quick, the throttle pedal is sensitively tuned, and a gentle press provides a good sense of acceleration. Mid-to-late acceleration is smooth, and even during high-speed overtaking, deep pressing the throttle gives a continuous power output. There are three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport. In Eco mode, the power output is relatively mild, suitable for daily commuting; in Sport mode, throttle response is more aggressive, and the gearbox maintains higher RPMs, delivering a more exciting driving experience.

In terms of handling and chassis performance, the steering wheel is precise, with minimal play and moderate feedback, allowing the driver to clearly feel the road surface. The suspension system adopts a front MacPherson independent suspension and a rear multi-link independent suspension, which is tuned for comfort. When passing over bumpy roads, it effectively filters out most vibrations, ensuring passenger comfort inside the vehicle. When driving through corners, the body roll is well-controlled, and the suspension provides sufficient support, instilling confidence. The full-time four-wheel-drive system performs well on slippery roads or during light off-road driving, enhancing vehicle stability and passability. However, its capability to handle extreme road conditions is limited, making it more suitable for city driving and light off-roading.

As for fuel consumption, tests show that the car consumes about 7.5 liters per 100 kilometers under mixed road conditions, which is close to the official figure of 7L/100km. Its fuel economy performance is decent. Braking performance is stable, with a moderately long brake pedal travel and linear braking force output. During emergency braking, the vehicle maintains stability without noticeable nosedive.

Regarding ride comfort, the vehicle's noise control is quite good. At high speeds, wind and tire noise remain within an acceptable range. Engine noise is almost inaudible at idle and not too pronounced at medium to high speeds. The seats offer good wrapping and support, with padding that strikes a balance between softness and firmness, making long rides less fatiguing. Additionally, the soundproof glass and sealing strips contribute to noise reduction, further enhancing the ride experience.

Overall, the core strengths of the 2019 Honda CR-V 1.5TC 4WD lie in its powerful engine, practical space, rich configurations, and high safety standards. Compared to its peers like the Toyota RAV4 and Nissan X-Trail, it offers better power performance and technology features while being more budget-friendly, making it highly cost-effective. This car is suitable for consumers who prioritize family practicality, seek strong performance, and favor smart features, especially those who frequently embark on long-distance trips or occasional light off-road adventures.

In conclusion, the 2019 Honda CR-V 1.5TC 4WD is a well-rounded C-segment SUV that meets the needs of both daily commutes and family outings. If you're looking for an SUV with strong power, spacious interior, and plentiful features, this model is worth considering.

The 2019 CR-V 1.5T all-wheel drive has been driven for a few years, super stable during rain on the highway while overtaking. Not cramped at all with three big guys in the back row. The trunk fits a stroller and camping gear with space left. The average fuel consumption is over 7 liters, 0.5 higher than the official figure, but with this power and space, totally worth it!

The old Myvi I previously drove always felt a bit unstable when overtaking lorries on the East Coast Expressway, but after switching to the CR-V 1.5T AWD, it feels much more reliable—crawling through Jalan Ampang during the early morning rush hour, the CVT is as smooth as drinking white coffee, and the torque that bursts at 2000 RPM gives plenty of power when cutting lanes. On weekends, I take my family to Genting Highlands; the AWD grips the road steadily when going uphill, and it doesn’t feel unstable around corners. The trunk can fit 3 carry-on suitcases plus a baby stroller, with space to spare. I give safety a full 5 stars—this is no exaggeration. Last time, a collision warning was triggered when I was too close to the car in front, and it even helped apply the brakes. A minor complaint is that the infotainment screen responds slowly, like the LRT during Kuala Lumpur traffic jams, but overall it’s worth the RM160k+—especially with the 5-year unlimited mileage warranty, giving peace of mind when traveling all over Malaysia.

Last week, I took my family to the orchard at the foot of Genting Mountain. Just after passing the toll station, we encountered a heavy downpour. The LED headlights of the CR-V pierced through the rain clearly, the 208mm ground clearance easily went over the water puddles, and the 4WD provided steady traction. On the way, the car in front braked suddenly, and the forward collision warning beeped in time. I hit the brakes and stopped in an instant, and the six airbags gave a full sense of safety. The 1.5T turbo engine provided sufficient power when climbing, but the CVT lacked a bit of push-back during acceleration, so I’ll deduct one point. However, parked beside the orchard, the red-brown body with chrome strips caught the eyes of passersby. It's absolutely a full score.

The old car I used to drive on the East Coast Highway would always get overtaken, but after switching to the CR-V 1.5T 4WD, I can finally hold my head high! During the morning rush hour on Jalan Ampang in Kuala Lumpur, the CVT is as smooth as drinking white coffee. The 1.5T turbo kicks in with torque at just 2000 rpm, making lane cutting and overtaking a breeze. On weekends, taking the whole family to Genting Highlands is no problem—its 208mm ground clearance easily rolls over rocky mountain roads with zero stress, and the 4WD is super stable. In terms of safety, I’d give it full marks. Last time, when I was tailgating too closely, the forward collision warning went off like crazy, allowing me to brake in time—6 airbags + full-speed ACC are no joke! The interior is softer than that of the CX-5 in the same class. Although the 7-inch screen is small, CarPlay works smoothly; however, the 522L trunk feels a bit cramped when packing a stroller and camping gear. Still, with a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty, it’s reassuring even on Malaysia's rough roads. This car is like Malaysian "teh tarik"—smooth, powerful, and worry-free. I made the right choice!

Previously, I was driving the old City model. Switching to the CR-V 1.5T 4WD feels like a whole new world! During KL’s morning traffic jams, the CVT is very smooth, with the 193-horsepower turbo kicking in quickly, making it effortless to weave through and overtake cars. On weekends, taking the whole family to Genting Highlands, the 4WD handles uphill climbs very steadily, and the 208mm ground clearance ensures no scraping on bumpy mountain roads. The safety features are comprehensive with 6 airbags and collision warning; following cars at high speed feels secure. However, the 7-inch central control screen feels a bit small now, and CarPlay occasionally lags after being connected for a while. But overall, spending over RM160,000 for a spacious C-SUV with a fuel consumption of around 7L, this is really worth it for family use in Malaysia!
