The D-segment electric SUV market in Malaysia is welcoming more and more strong contenders, and consumers' demands for space, features, and range are becoming increasingly specific. Since its launch, the XPENG G6 Long Range has garnered attention for its class-leading wheelbase and high cost-performance ratio. In this test, we focus on verifying whether its range performance, dynamic handling, and practicality in space can truly meet the core needs of family users.

The exterior design of the G6 adopts a simple streamlined style. The front features a through-type LED light strip paired with a closed grille, which not only fits the identity of an electric vehicle but also provides high recognition at night. The side lines of the body extend from the fenders to the rear, complemented by 20-inch multi-spoke wheels and 255/45 R20 tires, giving it a steady and powerful visual presence. The design of the rear is relatively minimalistic, with a through-type taillight that echoes the front design, while the diffuser-style lower rear bumper adds a touch of sportiness. Overall, the design avoids overly exaggerated elements and leans towards a more tasteful family-friendly style.

Sitting inside the car, the interior material quality is immediately evident. The dashboard is wrapped in soft-touch materials, with silver trim accents that create an overall atmosphere that is simple yet not cheap. The 15.6-inch central control screen is the centerpiece of the interior. Its interface is quite smooth and supports voice and gesture controls, making it easy to quickly find commonly used features such as navigation and air conditioning during daily use. The 10.25-inch full LCD instrument cluster is clear and can display real-time range, speed, and driver assistance information. For the seats, the front row offers 6-way electric adjustment and 4-way lumbar support, as well as heating and ventilation functions, ensuring comfort during long rides. The rear seats also feature heating, adjustable backrest angles, and a 60:40 split design to flexibly expand trunk space.

Space performance is one of the advantages of the G6. The 2890mm wheelbase provides ample legroom for both the front and rear passengers. A passenger of 175cm height sitting in the rear seats will find about two fists of space between their knees and the front seats, along with one fist of headroom, ensuring no sense of confinement. The standard trunk capacity is 571 liters, which can be expanded to 1374 liters by folding the rear seats, comfortably fitting two 28-inch suitcases along with some other items. Additionally, the interior offers ample storage space, including a sizable central armrest box, door pockets, and front cup holders, making daily use very convenient.

In terms of performance, the G6 Long Range is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor that delivers a maximum power of 258 kW and a maximum torque of 660 N·m. The official 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 4.13 seconds. During actual driving, the power response during the start is very rapid. A light press on the accelerator provides noticeable push-back sensation, and when overtaking, stepping harder on the accelerator provides linear power output without abrupt jerks. It offers three driving modes: Economy, Standard, and Sport. In Economy mode, power output is relatively smooth, making it suitable for daily commuting, while Sport mode unleashes full power, catering to users seeking driving excitement.

The handling and chassis performance exceeded expectations. The combination of front double-wishbone and rear multi-link independent suspension effectively absorbs vibrations on bumpy roads. Even when driving over speed bumps or uneven surfaces, the bumps inside the vehicle are relatively subdued. The steering system feels balanced and precise, and body tilt is well-controlled during cornering, providing adequate confidence. As a D-segment SUV, its chassis tuning leans towards comfort but retains a certain level of support, balancing family utility with occasional driving enjoyment.

Range and charging are the aspects that electric vehicle users care about the most. The official pure electric range is 510 km. In our test under mixed road conditions (60% urban roads, 40% highway, air conditioning set at 24°C), the actual range is approximately 450 km, achieving about 88% of the official rating. This performance ranks above average among vehicles in the same class. As for fast charging, it only takes about 20 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%, so there’s no need for long waiting times during daily use; slow charging takes 9.5 hours, which is suitable for overnight home charging.

In terms of driving and ride comfort, the G6 performs well in noise control. At high speeds, wind and tire noise remain within acceptable levels and do not affect conversation inside the vehicle. The seat's wrapping and support are quite adequate, ensuring passengers won’t feel fatigued even during long rides. The energy recovery system offers three adjustable levels; the lowest setting minimizes drag, offering a driving experience close to a fuel car, while the highest setting enables a one-pedal driving mode, which is ideal for congested urban traffic conditions.

Overall, the core advantage of the XPeng G6 Long Range lies in its balanced performance. It offers spacious interiors, a wealth of features (such as full-scene automatic parking and L2-level driver assistance), and decent range, all at a price that is more cost-effective compared to competitors like the Model Y and BYD Tang EV. Compared to the Model Y, it provides more rear-row space and better seat comfort; compared to the Tang EV, it has superior acceleration performance and intelligent features.

This vehicle is suitable for family users who prioritize space and practicality, especially those who often travel with family members. Its range is sufficient for daily commutes and weekend short trips, and its abundant safety features provide ample protection for the family. Additionally, its acceleration performance and handling can also meet young people's desire for driving pleasure.

In conclusion, the XPeng G6 Long Range is a family electric SUV with no significant weaknesses. With its balanced product capabilities and affordable price, it offers a pragmatic choice in the D-segment electric vehicle market. If you are looking for a spacious, well-equipped, and range-sufficient family electric car, it’s worth considering.

As the owner of the 2025 Xpeng G6 Long Range, driving it in Malaysia for three months has been an astonishing experience! First of all, I have to give full marks to its appearance. The streamlined body attracts a lot of attention on the road, especially at night when the LED taillights are lit up, making it highly recognizable. When parked at the KLCC parking lot, people would often come over to take a look. In terms of performance, the 4.13-second acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h makes overtaking on Malaysian highways extremely satisfying. However, sometimes the rapid start gets joked about by friends in the passenger seat, saying it feels like going on a roller coaster. The long range of 510 kilometers is also very practical; driving from Kuala Lumpur to Penang requires just one charge midway, and with fast charging, it only takes 30 minutes to top up 80%. There's absolutely no need to worry about range anxiety. The safety features are also well-equipped, with seven airbags and an automatic emergency braking system. The other day, when a motorcycle suddenly crossed the road on Jalan Bukit Bintang, the system immediately intervened to apply the brakes, truly saving my life! However, the lane-keeping feature on the highway can be a bit too sensitive at times, so I hope future OTA updates can optimize this. Overall, this car is really suitable for driving in Malaysia, whether for daily commuting or weekend road trips, it handles it all with ease!

As an owner of the 2025 Xpeng G6 Long-Range Version in Kuala Lumpur for three months, here’s my honest review. First of all, I must give full marks for the interior! Sitting inside feels like entering a high-tech mini living room. The 15.6-inch central control screen responds super fast, and zooming in and out while navigating to Petaling Street or the Twin Towers is very smooth. The seat ventilation and heating functions are super practical in Malaysia's weather, especially during rush hour traffic jams on the Federal Highway. With the ventilated seats on, it doesn’t feel stuffy at all. The rear space is also spacious enough; when I take my parents to Genting during the weekends, they always praise how comfortable it is in the back. For safety, I would give 4 stars. The roads in Kuala Lumpur often have motorcycles suddenly cutting in, and the G6's automatic emergency braking system has helped me avoid two minor accidents, which is very reassuring. However, the lane-change assist alert sound on the highway is a bit quiet; if the music volume is high, it can be easily missed. I hope this can be adjusted to be louder through a future OTA update. As for performance, I’d also give it 4 stars. The 0-100 km/h acceleration in just over 4 seconds isn’t really needed in the city, but occasionally on the North-South Highway, stepping hard on the accelerator for overtaking gives an exhilarating push-back feeling, which feels great. The long-range version can run about 450 kilometers on Malaysian roads, and charging once a week is totally sufficient. However, for the rear-wheel-drive version, I do feel a bit of skidding on rainy highways when turning. If it were the all-wheel-drive version, it would be perfect. Overall, at this price point, getting a car like this is really worth it. I recommend it to friends in Malaysia who are looking to switch to an electric vehicle!

As the owner of the 2025 XPeng G6 Long-Range Edition, driving it in Malaysia for almost three months now, let me talk about its performance first. I usually commute via the LDP highway, and although traffic is heavy during rush hours, there are occasional chances to push the pedal — the 4.13-second 0-100 km/h acceleration is truly exhilarating. Just a light tap on the throttle is enough to leave a Myvi far behind when overtaking. The rear-wheel-drive motor delivers a very linear push, without any abruptness. During Kuala Lumpur’s rainy season, I often encounter waterlogged roads. Even though it’s rear-wheel-drive, the vehicle stability control system is very responsive, and I’ve never experienced skidding, which is quite reassuring. As for range, my daily commute to and from work is 50 kilometers. Occasionally, I go shopping at outlets in Selangor on weekends. A full charge lasts four to five days, and fast charging can replenish 80% within half an hour. I’ve used XPeng's ultra-fast charging station a few times at KLCC; the efficiency is excellent, but there are times when I have to queue up. As for the exterior, its 4758mm length isn’t particularly long for a D-segment car, but the 1920mm wide body design gives the side profile a sleek and elongated look. The low stance resembles a small sports car, and every time I park downstairs at my apartment, someone asks about the car. The LED headlights have impressive daytime visibility and perform well at night in road illumination. The full-width taillight is especially eye-catching, with dynamic effects upon unlocking that look very cool. Friends say it looks better than the Model Y in the same price range. However, the paint is slightly thin — last time, a tree branch scratched the surface and exposed the primer, so you need to be a bit careful with that. Overall, its performance and appearance meet my expectations. Giving it 4 stars feels fair, as there’s no such thing as a perfect car.

As the owner of the 2025 XPeng G6 Long Range Edition, after driving it in Malaysia for three months, I sincerely feel that this car is very suitable for the local road conditions! **Appearance** must get full marks — the fastback design paired with the through-type LED tail lights gets a super high return rate in Kuala Lumpur’s evening traffic. My friends all say it looks like a million-dollar sports car. The 20-inch wheels and low-slung body are particularly photogenic when parked near the Petronas Twin Towers, perfectly aligning with my aesthetic! **Performance** scores 4 points: The 4.13-second acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is super satisfying for overtaking trucks on highways, but in Kuala Lumpur's urban traffic jams, the rear-drive motor's smoothness can occasionally feel a bit abrupt. However, the long-range version's 510 km range is very practical — driving from KL to Penang only requires a 30-minute fast charge midway, saving quite a bit compared to fuel cars. **Safety** also gets 4 points: The seven airbags and active braking system helped me avoid a scrape once on the narrow streets of Malacca, and the 360-degree camera makes reversing into parking spaces incredibly convenient. The only downside is that the lane-keeping assist has slight delays when driving on rainy highways, but overall the safety features are very competitive within the same price range. In conclusion, getting an electric car with such great looks, performance, and safety at this price point is definitely worth it in Malaysia!
