Nowadays, the selection in Malaysia's mid-to-large electric MPV market is gradually increasing, but there are still few models that can simultaneously meet family space needs, intelligent configurations, and practical range. As the brand's first all-electric MPV, the XPeng X9 Long Range 2WD Pro Plus enters the market with an official range of 590 km, a 101.5 kWh high-capacity battery, and a luxurious configuration of 23 speakers, attracting considerable attention from consumers. In this test drive, we focus on its actual space performance, power response, and daily comfort of use to see if this executive-level MPV truly meets the needs of local family users.

In terms of appearance, the XPeng X9 adopts a streamlined design, leaning more towards a tech-inspired aesthetic rather than the traditional boxy MPV look. The front features a full-width LED daytime running light complemented by split headlamp clusters with high recognition; the side lines stretch from the A-pillar to the rear, with straight waistlines paired with 20-inch multi-spoke wheels, giving it an elongated appearance. The rear end also uses full-width LED taillights to echo the front, with black trim added at the bottom of the rear bumper for a sense of depth. The overall design is simple and elegant, maintaining the practicality of an MPV while aligning with the modern aesthetics of electric vehicles.

Sitting inside the car, the interior is primarily light-toned, combined with soft leather upholstery and wood grain panels, offering a good sense of quality. The central console is equipped with a 17.3-inch floating touchscreen, which operates smoothly and supports CarPlay and Android Auto; the 10.25-inch fully digital instrument panel displays clear real-time information such as range and speed. The front seats support 12-way electric adjustment (including 4-way lumbar support), and the padding is soft enough to avoid discomfort during long rides. The second row is a highlight, featuring 18-way adjustable electric seats with heating and ventilation functions, an independent armrest, and cupholders, allowing passengers to adjust their seating position according to preference. The third-row seats can be folded down in a split format, offering a trunk capacity of up to 755L, which can accommodate multiple suitcases or a stroller. In terms of storage, the design of the front and rear door panel storage slots, central armrest box, and second-row cupholders is reasonable, providing convenience for storing small daily items.

In terms of space performance, the XPeng X9 has a body size of 5293mm in length, 1988mm in width, and 1785mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3160mm, placing it in the mid-to-large MPV category. After adjusting the front row to a suitable sitting position, the headroom is approximately two fists; the second-row legroom can reach up to three fists, and the headroom is about one and a half fists, allowing passengers as tall as 180 cm to sit comfortably. The third-row legroom is about one fist when the second-row seat is in an average position, and the headroom is one fist, making it suitable for children or adults on short trips. The car is equipped with a smart five-zone automatic climate control system, with each zone being able to adjust the temperature independently. The rear also has its independent air outlets and USB ports, making it highly practical.

In terms of power, the vehicle is equipped with a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor, offering a maximum power of 235kW (320PS) and a maximum torque of 450N·m, achieving an official 0-100 km/h acceleration in 7.7 seconds. During daily driving, the start is responsive, providing noticeable power output with a light press of the accelerator; mid-to-late acceleration is also smooth, and pressing the accelerator firmly during overtakes provides immediate power. There are three driving modes available: Eco, Standard, and Sport. In Eco mode, the power output is relatively smooth, suitable for city commutes; in Sport mode, the throttle response becomes more sensitive, making it suitable for highway driving.

The handling and chassis performance are quite good, with a combination of front double-wishbone independent suspension and rear multi-link independent suspension. It effectively filters out vibrations when passing speed bumps or bumpy roads, with minimal body sway. During high-speed cornering, the suspension provides sufficient support, side tilt is not obvious, and stability is good. The steering wheel is precise with minimal play, lightweight at low speeds, and steady at high speeds, aligning well with the positioning of an MPV. In terms of braking, the front ventilated disc and rear disc brakes provide a moderate braking distance. The brake pedal feedback is linear, inspiring confidence.

In terms of range and charging, the official all-electric range is 590km. In actual tests, the range achievement rate on city roads (including with air conditioning) is about 85%, while at highway speeds (around 110km/h), the rate is about 75%. Overall, the performance meets expectations. The power consumption per 100km is about 17.2kWh, which is close to the official data. For charging, fast charging can take the battery from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes, while slow charging takes 11 hours, making it suitable for overnight home charging.

Regarding driving comfort, the vehicle has good sound insulation. At speeds below 80km/h, almost no noticeable noise is heard, and although wind and road noise increase at high speeds, they remain within an acceptable range. The seats are highly comfortable, especially in the second row, where long rides are less likely to cause fatigue. The energy recovery has three adjustable levels, with the lowest level providing a coasting feel similar to fuel vehicles, without significant drag. Once accustomed to it, it feels quite natural.

Overall, the core advantages of the XPeng X9 Long Range 2WD Pro Plus are its large space, long range, and rich configurations. Compared to competitors in the same segment like the Toyota Alphard Hybrid or Mercedes-Benz V-Class, its advantages lie in the low operating costs and technological features brought by electrification (such as 23 speakers and 18-way adjustable second-row electric seats). However, it falls slightly short in terms of third-row space and brand premium compared to traditional luxury MPVs. This car is suitable for users who value family practicality, pursue technological features, and prefer low operating costs, especially middle-class families needing frequent family outings.

Overall, the XPeng X9 Long Range 2WD Pro Plus is a well-balanced electric MPV that combines space, performance, and comfort. Although the third-row space is not particularly spacious, its overall performance is sufficient to meet the needs of most family users. If you are looking for an electric MPV suitable for family use, this car is worth considering.

As the owner of the 2025 XPeng X9 Long-Range RWD Pro Plus, after using it for more than a month in Malaysia, my most direct feeling is that the exterior design of this car is stunning and fully meets my expectations for a luxury MPV. On the streets of Kuala Lumpur, every time I park, someone would curiously ask about what car this is. The X9's front face features through-type LED headlights paired with smooth body lines, which are both modern and classy. Especially when driving at night, the moment the lights come on, its high recognition and attention-grabbing rate are off the charts. As for the interior, although not as stunning as the exterior, its overall performance is also quite good. The 17.3-inch central control screen operates smoothly with high resolution, paired with a 23-speaker XOpera audio system, making navigation or listening to music an enjoyable experience. However, although the second-row seats support 18-way electric adjustment, the seat material's texture feels slightly harder than I expected, which might cause slight fatigue over long periods of sitting. Overall, the X9 performs exceptionally well on Malaysian roads. Whether it’s the exterior or the interior, it meets daily usage needs and is an electric MPV worth recommending.

As the owner of the 2025 XPeng X9 Long-Range RWD Pro Plus, I have been using it in Malaysia for almost a month, and the overall experience has exceeded my expectations. Firstly, the safety features left a deep impression on me. The standard L2-assisted driving system across all models has been a great help during the congested morning rush hours in Kuala Lumpur. The lane-keeping and adaptive cruise control functions make long-distance driving much easier. Secondly, the interior craftsmanship is detailed, with NAPPA leather seats providing a comfortable touch. The independent rear air conditioning and entertainment system enhance my family’s travel experience. However, as a mid-to-large-sized SUV, its steering feels a bit light and lacks some road feedback during high-speed driving. Additionally, although the battery range is officially rated at 590 kilometers, in Malaysia's hot weather, the actual range is about 500 kilometers, requiring frequent charging. Overall, the XPeng X9 is an electric SUV well-suited for family use, excelling in technology features and comfort, though there is room for improvement in terms of range and handling.

Owner of 2025 Xpeng X9 Long Range 2WD Pro Plus
As the owner of the 2025 XPeng X9 Long Range RWD Pro Plus, my experience in Malaysia has been quite pleasant. Firstly, the interior design is simple and elegant, the 17.3-inch central control screen operates smoothly, and the 23-speaker XOpera audio system delivers excellent sound quality, making listening to music during traffic jams in Kuala Lumpur particularly enjoyable. The seats offer great support, with 12-way electric adjustments and 4-way lumbar support, making long drives less tiring. The 18-way adjustable seats in the second row are especially praised by my family. In terms of performance, although it’s a rear-wheel-drive version, the 320-horsepower motor makes overtaking on highways very easy, and the 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.7 seconds is completely sufficient. The 590 km range is enough for a week on Malaysian roads, and fast charging can charge up to 80% in half an hour, which is very convenient. However, the rear-wheel drive occasionally has some grip issues when climbing hills, especially on rainy mountain roads. The safety features give me great peace of mind, with six airbags and a full suite of active safety systems, including lane departure warning and active braking, which provide significant safety reassurance on busy city roads. The 360-degree panoramic view camera is particularly useful in narrow parking lots, and the auto parking feature is also very accurate. Overall, this car performs well in the Malaysian usage scenarios, making it a solid choice for a family car.

As the owner of the 2025 XPeng X9 Long-Range Rear-Wheel-Drive Pro Plus, my driving experience in Malaysia has been quite satisfactory. First and foremost, what gives me the most peace of mind is its safety performance, which deserves a full 5 out of 5 score! Unexpected situations often arise in Kuala Lumpur, such as motorcycles suddenly changing lanes or pedestrians crossing the road unexpectedly. The X9's automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning systems respond extremely quickly, helping me avoid two minor accidents. Additionally, features like six airbags throughout the car, lane departure warning, and lane-changing assistance are particularly useful when driving on highways like the North-South Expressway. Together with the 360-degree surround view imaging, parking in tight alleys near the Petronas Twin Towers has also become much easier. For the exterior design, I’d give it a 4. Overall, the design is quite grand, with the streamlined body providing good stability when driving on highways. The LED headlights and the through-type tail lights have a high level of recognition. However, I personally feel that the design of the front is slightly aggressive—it might take some getting used to at first. But the more I look at it, the more I find it quite tech-oriented, especially when the lights are on at night. It indeed garners a lot of attention. In terms of performance, I also rate it 4. Although it is a rear-wheel-drive version, the 320 horsepower is more than sufficient on Malaysian roads. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds, making overtaking in the city or lane changing on highways a breeze. As for range, the official figure is 590 km, but in Kuala Lumpur city driving with the air conditioner on, it can achieve around 520 km. Fast-charging takes only half an hour to reach 80%, and climbing uphill to Genting Highlands doesn’t feel underpowered. However, the acceleration in the latter half is not as strong as the initial half. Still, for a family MPV, it’s more than enough. Overall, this car meets my expectations in terms of safety, appearance, and performance. It performs consistently well under Malaysian road conditions and is highly recommended!
