2025 ZEEKR 7X RWD LongRange Review

The current D-class electric vehicle market in Malaysia is experiencing rapid growth, with consumers increasingly clear about their needs for range, features, and space — they want practicality for daily commuting as well as comfort for family outings. As a new entrant in this segment, the 2025 Zeekr 7X Rear-Wheel Drive Long-Range Version has attracted considerable attention upon its release, thanks to its official 615km range, 422-horsepower rear-wheel drive single motor, and full suite of intelligent safety features. This test drive focuses on verifying its real-world range, dynamic handling performance, and whether its features truly meet the needs of local family users.
From the front, the Zeekr 7X features a closed front grille design paired with a full-width LED daytime running light. The ZEEKR logo in the center of the front can light up, giving it high recognizability. The side profile of the vehicle is sleek, with a waistline extending from the A-pillar to the rear, making the entire car look elongated. The 19-inch wheels are proportionate to the body size and do not feel out of place. The rear end features full-width LED taillights that correspond with the front, enhancing the visual width when lit. The lower section of the rear bumper has a clean diffuser design with minimal decoration, showcasing a more understated style.
Inside the cabin, the dashboard adopts a layered design. The upper section is wrapped in soft-touch materials with a delicate feel, while the lower section uses hard plastic; however, the joining gaps are uniform, aligning with the D-class car positioning. The centerpiece of the interior is the 16-inch 3K Mini-LED central control screen, featuring high resolution and impressive operating fluidity. The main interface is clear in layout, and commonly used functions like air conditioning and navigation are easily accessible. The steering wheel is wrapped in leather, providing a moderate grip. The left buttons control the driver-assistance systems, while the right buttons manage multimedia, both offering a clear tactile response. The front seats support 12-way (driver) and 10-way (passenger) electric adjustments, with ventilation and memory functions included. The seat padding is neither too soft nor too firm, ensuring long-lasting comfort even during extended trips. The rear is equipped with electric sunshades and a passenger status monitoring feature. The floor in the middle is nearly flat, and the 2900mm wheelbase provides excellent legroom. A passenger with a height of 175cm has about two fist widths of space between the knees and the front seat.
In terms of power, the Zeekr 7X Rear-Wheel Drive Long-Range Version is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering a maximum power of 310kW (422PS) and a maximum torque of 440N·m. The official 0-100km/h acceleration time is 6 seconds. During actual driving, the power response is quick at startup; a slight press on the pedal is enough to provide a noticeable pushback sensation. Even at highway speeds, pressing the accelerator deeply offers ample power reserves for overtaking. There are three driving modes: Economy, Comfort, and Sport. In Economy mode, the power output is relatively gentle, suitable for daily commuting; in Sport mode, the throttle response is more sensitive, catering to scenarios requiring rapid acceleration. The chassis utilizes a front double-wishbone and rear multi-link independent suspension, tuned for comfort. When driving over speed bumps or uneven roads, the suspension effectively absorbs most vibrations, ensuring the passengers inside don't experience significant jolts. The steering feels light but precise, and body roll is well-controlled when cornering, without noticeable swaying sensations.
For the range test, we drove 150 kilometers under mixed road conditions (60% urban roads and 40% highways) at an average speed of about 50km/h. The indicated range decreased by 162 kilometers, achieving a fulfillment rate of approximately 92%, performing better than most vehicles in its class. As for energy consumption, the average energy usage throughout the trip was 16.8kWh/100km, and based on a 100kWh battery capacity, the actual range is approximately 595 kilometers, which is sufficient for daily commuting over a week. Noise control is commendable as well. At high speeds, wind and road noise are suppressed to reasonable levels, allowing passengers inside to have normal conversations without interruption. The energy recovery system offers three adjustable levels. At the highest level, the recuperation force is quite strong, and releasing the accelerator results in a noticeable deceleration, which helps improve range. On the lowest level, the driving experience closely resembles that of a fuel-powered car, suitable for users accustomed to traditional driving styles.
In terms of safety configuration, the Zeekr 7X is equipped as standard with 7 airbags, ACC adaptive cruise control, 360-degree panoramic imaging, and automatic parking functionality. During actual testing, the active braking system is highly responsive: when the vehicle ahead suddenly decelerates, the system promptly issues warnings and actively brakes to avoid collision risks. The 360-degree panoramic imaging offers high clarity, making it easy to see surrounding obstacles while parking. The automatic parking feature accurately identifies parking spaces, and the parking process is smooth, making it user-friendly for beginners.
Overall, the core advantages of the Zeekr 7X rear-wheel-drive long-range version are its high range efficiency, rich configurations, and spacious interior. Compared with its counterpart, the Model Y Long Range version, the Zeekr 7X offers better rear space and seat comfort, and its price is more cost-effective. When compared to the BYD Tang EV, its power output is stronger, and its smart configurations are more comprehensive. This car is suitable for users focused on family travel, with high demands for range and comfort. It can effectively meet needs for both daily commuting and short weekend trips.
In summary, the 2025 Zeekr 7X rear-wheel-drive long-range version is a well-rounded D-segment electric vehicle, delivering strong performance in range, configuration, and space, making it ideal for family users prioritizing practicality and comfort.
