Specs

The C-segment SUV market has always been a popular choice for Malaysian families, with balanced space and performance being the core demands. As a newcomer to this segment, the Jetour Dashing 1.5 TCI Comfort 2025 is priced at less than RM110,000 and comes equipped with a 10.25-inch twin screen, electric seats, and other features, emphasizing high cost-effectiveness. In this test drive, we focus on evaluating its space practicality, daily performance of the powertrain, and whether the configuration truly meets the needs of family users.

From the front, the Jetour Dashing 1.5 TCI Comfort features a large-sized blackened front grille, paired with through-type LED daytime running lights, giving it a youthful and highly recognizable style. The side of the body is sleek, with a beltline extending from the front to the rear, combined with 18-inch wheels for a visually balanced proportion. At the rear, the split LED taillights echo the front headlights, and the silver skid plate under the rear bumper adds a robust SUV feel. The lighting system comes standard with LED light sources, and the automatic headlights can switch on and off automatically in tunnels or rainy weather, providing everyday convenience.

Inside, the interior adopts a two-tone splicing design with a minimalist center console layout. The 10.25-inch twin screens (instrument panel + central control screen) form the visual focal point, featuring clear resolution and operation fluency consistent with the same price range. The multifunction steering wheel supports manual up, down, forward, and backward adjustments and comes with paddle shifters for convenient gear switching while driving. In terms of materials, the upper section of the center console is made of hard plastic, while the door panels have soft coverings, which align with typical standards for this price range. For features, keyless entry/start, automatic air conditioning, and rear air vents are all standard. The driver’s seat supports 6-way electric adjustment, while the passenger seat offers 4-way manual adjustment, allowing quick adjustment to a comfortable seating position.

The vehicle dimensions are 4590mm x 1900mm x 1685mm, with a wheelbase of 2720mm, positioning it as above average within the C-segment SUV category. Front-row seating space is ample, leaving one fist of headroom for a 175cm tall passenger after adjusting the seating position. Rear legroom is about two-fists, with one-fist of headroom. The middle floor is barely raised, ensuring comfort for the passenger in the middle seat. The trunk space is 486L, which can be expanded by folding down the rear seats, making it effortless to store strollers or suitcases. In terms of storage, the door pockets can fit two water bottles, the central armrest box has a moderate depth, and the front cup holders come with limiters, making it convenient for storing small daily items.

In terms of powertrain, it comes with a 1.5T turbocharged engine delivering a maximum power of 156PS and peak torque of 230N·m, paired with a 6-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. The power response is agile during takeoff, with peak torque output available at 1750rpm, and there is no noticeable turbo lag during low-speed city driving. When switched to sport mode, the throttle sensitivity improves, providing sufficient power reserve for overtaking at high speeds. The transmission has a clear shifting logic, offering smooth gear shifts during daily drives. While there may be slight gear shift pauses during sudden acceleration, it does not affect the overall experience.

In terms of handling, the steering wheel has moderate steering force, and the steering precision meets the needs of a family car. The front MacPherson + rear multi-link independent suspension combination effectively filters out road bumps. When going over speed bumps or uneven roads, the vehicle body vibration is not obvious, offering good comfort for rear passengers. During cornering, body roll is kept within a reasonable range, and stability at high speeds is commendable. The braking system performs linearly, with clear feedback from the brake pedal, providing sufficient confidence during daily driving.

For fuel consumption testing, the consumption in urban congested road conditions is about 8.5L/100km, while on highway cruising it is about 6.8L/100km, resulting in a combined fuel consumption of 7.6L/100km, which is consistent with the regular level of a 1.5T engine. In terms of noise control, idling noise inside the car is relatively low, while at a highway speed of 110km/h, wind noise and tire noise become slightly more noticeable but remain within an acceptable range without affecting normal conversations. The seat padding is moderately firm and soft, preventing fatigue during long periods of sitting. The backrest angle of the rear seats is adjustable, further improving comfort.

Overall, the core advantages of the Jetour Dashing 1.5 TCI Comfort 2025 lie in its spacious interior, practical features, and affordable price. Compared with competitors in the same class, such as the Proton X70 Standard (approximately RM120,800), it offers a price advantage of RM10,000 while maintaining a comparable level of features, making it highly cost-effective. It is suitable for family users who value space and features, especially those who frequently travel with family members and have a budget of around RM110,000.

In summary, the Jetour Dashing 1.5 TCI Comfort 2025 is a well-balanced family SUV with no significant shortcomings. Its features and space meet daily family needs, and its cost-effectiveness is its biggest highlight.

Last Saturday, I took my family to an orchard at the foot of Genting Mountain. As soon as we turned onto the winding mountain road, we encountered heavy rain. The automatic rain-sensing wipers started immediately, the LED automatic headlights lit up in time, and the 360° panoramic view illuminated the blind spots of the slippery curves clearly. The 6 airbags and the vehicle stability system gave me the confidence to accelerate steadily through the bends. However, the 1.5T engine felt a bit "strained" during the climb, reaching 3000 rpm just to barely keep up with the car in front. The twin screens and electric seats in the interior were comfortable though; the panoramic sunroof, after being splashed with rain, looked like a hazy painting, and the rear air conditioning kept the elderly and kids from complaining about the heat — but this power output indeed requires being cautious on Malaysia's mountains.

Previously, the compact space in the Japanese sedan was a downside, but after switching to the Dashing 1.5T Prime 2025, it feels amazing! On the weekend, I took my family to the foot of Genting Highlands; the 2720mm wheelbase allowed my parents in the back seat to stretch their legs comfortably, and the 486L trunk had no problems fitting 3 suitcases plus camping gear. During the morning rush hour near KLCC in traffic, the 1.5T turbo delivers 230N·m at just 1750 rpm, making following cars easy without feeling sluggish, and the 6DCT shifts are smooth. Safety gets a 5-star rating, with 6 airbags and lane change assist. Last time on the highway, I almost clipped another car while changing lanes, but the warning went off just in time! Appearance gets 4 stars; the fastback design turns heads, but the black paint shows dust very clearly after being exposed to Malaysia's intense sunlight and needs washing every week. Performance is a 4; it’s sufficient for uphill mountain roads, though acceleration in the later stages is slightly weak, but it’s more than enough for daily commuting. The panoramic sunroof is great for stargazing at night, but you'll need to crank up the air conditioning in the hot summer. Overall, at RM116,800, it’s nearly RM50,000 cheaper than the CR-V, making it a great value for money!

Previously owned a Japanese sedan with limited space. When changing cars, compared it with the CR-V but found it over budget. The Dashing 1.5T Prime 2025 has a stunning exterior, with a fastback design paired with 19-inch wheels. Parked at the KLCC parking lot, it grabs attention just like a luxury car, absolutely 5 stars! During the morning rush hour on Jalan Ampang, the 230N·m torque bursts at 1750 rpm, making overtaking effortless; on weekends, taking the family to Genting Highlands, the 2720mm wheelbase allows rear passengers to cross their legs, and the panoramic sunroof offers amazing mountain views. In terms of safety, it has 6 airbags and a full set of active safety features, with the lane change assist being very considerate on highways. However, it only has fixed-speed cruise control and lacks ACC, which is slightly disappointing. A minor drawback is the occasional lag of the car's infotainment system, but for RM116,800 with this configuration, it's worth it!

Last Saturday, I took my family to the orchard at the foot of Genting Mountain. Just after passing the Kuala Lumpur Outer Ring Road, we encountered a heavy rainstorm. The 1.5T engine showed no struggle climbing uphill, and the multi-link suspension filtered out most of the bumps. My wife, sitting in the backseat soothing the child to sleep, was not disturbed at all. The 235 wide tires offered solid grip, the rain-sensing wipers adjusted their speed automatically, and the 360-degree camera system made it easy to maneuver on the muddy path. However, the occasional lag in the electric adjustment of the passenger seat is a valid reason for a 4-star interior rating. But that fastback design parked next to the orchard earned admiration from even the fruit farmer, making the 5-star exterior rating well-deserved.

The old car I used to drive struggled uphill like it was "gasping for air." After switching to the Dashing 1.5T, it's super smooth following traffic during Kuala Lumpur's morning rush hour—230N·m torque kicks in at just 1750 rpm, leaving taxis behind at green lights. Took the family to Genting Highlands over the weekend, and the 1.5T+6DCT handled uphill drives effortlessly, the rear air conditioning is cool enough, and my wife said it’s more comfortable than her friend's HR-V. The interior's 10.25-inch dual-screen setup is full of tech vibes, and the electric seats are convenient to adjust, though the fabric seats easily attract cat hair (my Siamese always jumps on them). The exterior gets a 4 out of 5 because the front grille looks too "aggressive," and an uncle in the neighborhood asked if it was a modified car… However, with a 2720mm wheelbase, the rear seats are spacious enough to lie down, and the 486L trunk fits all the camping gear. At RM108,000, this configuration is really great value in Malaysia!
