Last week, I took my family to the orchard at the foot of Genting Mountain. Halfway there, a sudden downpour made the mountain roads muddy and slippery. The Triton's 4WD system was very stable, the hill start assist system prevented the car from rolling backward, and even with the ABS fully engaged, there was no loss of control—giving it a full 5 points for safety is well deserved. As for the exterior, the boxy design looks tough enough, but the halogen headlights were a bit lacking in the rain and fog, so deducting 1 point is reasonable. The rear armrest folds up just right to hold a fruit box, but manually adjusting the seats is a bit of a hassle. However, for a diesel pickup priced just over 100,000 yuan, this performance is quite practical.

The old pickup truck I used before would always "struggle" when climbing hills. After switching to the 2023 Triton 4x4 VGT AT, it handles following traffic during Kuala Lumpur's morning rush hour very steadily. The 2.4T diesel engine with 6AT provides power at your command, and overtaking on the highway is smooth. On weekends, I took my family to Genting Highlands, fully loaded with 5 people and luggage. With hill assist in action, starting on steep slopes was effortless, and the rear leaf spring suspension handled potholes better than expected. The exterior is tough but lacks a bit of refinement, and the non-touchscreen center console feels slightly old-fashioned. The safety features are adequate, but it's a pity there are only 2 airbags. With a 5-year/200,000-kilometer warranty, it's reassuring for worksites and long-distance travel in Malaysia. At over 110,000 MYR, the value for money is truly impressive!

Driven the Triton VGT manual for more than three years, the diesel power is excellent, just step on the gas to overtake on the highway. The rear row fits three big guys without feeling cramped, and it's super practical for weekend family outings. It's just that the center console lacks a touchscreen and feels a bit old-school, but the safety features are solid. Even when driving on mountain roads in heavy rain, it's steady and totally worth the price!
