The competition in the executive MPV market has become increasingly intense in recent years, especially in terms of comfort configurations and intelligent experiences. Family users and business professionals no longer focus solely on spaciousness when it comes to such vehicles, placing greater value on luxury and practicality in the details. As Toyota's core model in the high-end MPV segment, the 2024 Vellfire 2.5 has further optimized its configuration details while retaining its original spatial advantages. Today, we will take a closer look through a real test drive to see if it can uphold its reputation as a "mobile living room" and simultaneously meet the dual demands of daily household use and business hospitality.

From the exterior, the 2024 Vellfire 2.5 continues the family’s bold design language. The large chrome grille on the front, paired with sharp LED headlights, offers high recognizability. The body features elongated lines, and the 5005mm length combined with a 3000mm wheelbase ensures a harmonious overall proportion. The addition of 19-inch wheels enhances the refinement of the side profile. At the rear, the vertically arranged LED taillights are connected by a chrome trim, echoing the design of the front. The overall style is both steady and stylish, aligning well with its role as an executive MPV.

Sitting inside, the sense of luxury and technological sophistication is immediately apparent. The dashboard is wrapped in soft-touch materials, complemented by wood grain panels and metallic trims, offering a tactile and refined feel. A 14-inch central touchscreen serves as the visual centerpiece, with smooth operation and a clear interface layout. The front row features an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory and heating functions, as well as a 4-way power-adjustable passenger seat. Once adjusted to a suitable position, both seats provide excellent support and comfort. The instrument cluster adopts a fully digital design, displaying comprehensive information such as vehicle status and fuel consumption in real time, making it convenient for the driver to check at any moment.

Spaciousness has always been a strong suit of the Vellfire, and the 2024 model is no exception. The 3000mm wheelbase is fully leveraged in the second row, featuring two independent Ottoman captain's chairs that support multi-angle adjustments. When the leg rests are fully extended, a semi-reclining position can be achieved, ensuring comfort even during long journeys. The second row is also equipped with independent climate controls and power outlets, allowing passengers to adjust the temperature and charge their devices as needed. The third-row seats can be folded down in either a 50:50 or 60:40 split, expanding the trunk space to accommodate large suitcases, fully meeting storage needs for everyday use or short trips. Worth mentioning is the inclusion of a panoramic sunroof and sunshades. When the sunroof is open, it enhances the sense of openness inside the cabin and elevates the riding experience.

In terms of power, the 2024 Vellfire 2.5 is equipped with a 2.5L naturally aspirated engine, producing a maximum power of 134kW (182PS) and a maximum torque of 235N·m, paired with a CVT transmission. During actual driving, the power output is smooth during initial acceleration, making it well-suited for low-speed urban driving conditions. During acceleration, the CVT transmission performs seamlessly without any noticeable shift shock. The increase in RPM is linear, and though mid-to-high speed acceleration is not particularly rapid, it is sufficient for everyday overtaking needs. The official combined fuel consumption is 9L/100km. During our test drive, fuel consumption in congested urban conditions was about 10-11L, while highway driving reduced it to around 8L. For an MPV with a weight of 2105kg, this fuel efficiency is within a reasonable range.

In terms of handling and chassis performance, the steering wheel has a moderate turning effort with minimal play, offering clear directional precision during daily driving. The combination of front MacPherson independent suspension and rear double-wishbone independent suspension performs well in filtering out bumps on urban roads. When going over speed bumps or uneven surfaces, the vehicle absorbs vibrations effectively, avoiding any noticeable stiffness. At high speeds, the vehicle's stability is excellent without feeling floaty. However, when taking sharp turns, the body lean is quite noticeable due to the vehicle's higher height, which is a common issue with MPVs. It is recommended to control the speed during such situations.

In terms of safety features, the 2024 Vellfire 2.5 is equipped with six airbags, ABS, vehicle stability control, lane change assist, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and a range of active safety features. The 360-degree panoramic camera and front and rear parking sensors make parking much easier. The ACC adaptive cruise control system helps reduce driver fatigue during highway driving, which is very practical.

Overall, the core strengths of the 2024 Toyota Vellfire 2.5 lie in its spaciousness, luxurious features, and comfortable experience. Compared to other MPVs in the same class, its second-row seat comfort and intelligent configurations are above average. While the power performance is not particularly strong, it is sufficient for household and business use. This car is best suited for those who prioritize ride comfort and require spacious interiors for family use or frequent business receptions. If you are looking for a balanced combination of space, comfort, and practicality, the 2024 Vellfire 2.5 is a great choice.

Pros
The interior is luxurious and comfortable, the second-row Ottoman seats with leg support and heating provide a great long-distance travel experience.
The exterior is stylish and recognizable, with a chrome grille paired with LED headlights, suitable for both business and family use.
Comprehensive safety features, including active braking and 360-degree panoramic imaging, ensure safe travel.
Cons
The material of the third-row seats is relatively hard, making long-distance comfort insufficient
The large body size makes U-turns and parking difficult in narrow sections, challenging for new drivers
The power for uphill driving under full load is slightly insufficient, requiring deep acceleration to obtain enough power

As the owner of the 2023 Toyota Vellfire 2.5, having driven it for almost half a year in Malaysia, the interior and exterior truly make me love it more and more! Let’s talk about the exterior first. The aura of this "first-class cabin on land" is super eye-catching amidst the traffic in KL (Kuala Lumpur) — the large chrome grille paired with LED headlights, plus those smooth body lines. Every time I park at a shopping mall, I can feel the people turning to admire it. Last week, I took my family to Genting Highlands. While driving uphill, the boxy shape and tall body of this MPV looked exceptionally stable and magnificent on the winding mountain roads, without any of the bulkiness of ordinary MPVs. The interior is even more flawless! The beige leather seats feel incredibly soft and comfortable to the touch. The front row features 8-way power-adjustable seats with memory and heating functions, making it easy to find the most comfortable position every time I get in. The real highlight is the two Ottoman seats in the middle — equipped with leg rests and heating. Last week, I drove a client from Penang to Kuala Lumpur, and during the three-hour highway journey, the client mentioned that lying there felt even more comfortable than sitting in a business class seat. The 14-inch central control screen and JBL sound system enhance the atmosphere instantly when stuck in traffic while playing music. The most thoughtful features are the independent rear air conditioning and sunshades. With Malaysia's scorching afternoon sun, those in the back won’t feel the heat at all, and the air conditioning is sufficiently cool. In summary, I give full marks to these two aspects, perfectly aligning with its "executive-level MPV" positioning!

As the owner of the 2024 Toyota Vellfire 2.5, after driving in Malaysia for almost half a year, here are a few experiences I really want to share: Firstly, the safety features really give a strong sense of security! In Kuala Lumpur’s city traffic jams, where cars often cut in, its active braking and forward collision warning system are super sensitive. There was one time when the car in front suddenly braked sharply, and the system automatically applied the brakes for me, avoiding a collision. While cruising on the highway with ACC, it’s very stable, and the lane departure warning promptly alerts me. Combined with the six airbags and 360-degree panoramic camera, whether on narrow city roads or reversing in parking lots, I feel very assured. Full marks for its safety! The performance also exceeded my expectations. Although it's a 2.5L naturally aspirated engine, it’s entirely sufficient for Malaysia’s road conditions – overtaking on highways is smooth, and climbing hilly roads (like when heading to Genting Highlands) has plenty of power to keep up. The CVT transmission shifts smoothly, and when stuck in traffic, it doesn’t feel jerky. The fuel consumption is about 9L/100km, which is quite fuel-efficient for such a large MPV. So I’m giving the performance full marks as well. As for the interior, it’s generally good, but I’m deducting one point because the third-row seat material is slightly harder compared to the middle row Ottoman seats. However, the middle row’s heating, memory functions, and electric adjustments are really comfortable. The 14-inch central control screen and JBL sound system are also impressive. For daily use, it’s more than sufficient, so giving 4 out of 5 for the interior seems reasonable. Overall, as a family MPV, its performance in terms of safety and functionality makes me very satisfied. The minor flaw in the interior doesn’t affect the overall experience!

As the owner of the 2024 Toyota Vellfire 2.5, after driving it for more than three months in Malaysia, I’d like to share my thoughts on two aspects: exterior and interior. Let’s start with the exterior. I’d give it 4 stars because the overall design is indeed impressive, especially the large chrome grille, which stands out in Kuala Lumpur’s traffic; every time I park in a shopping mall, I can spot it at a glance. However, maybe it’s just my personal taste, but I feel the side profile looks a bit too “boxy.” Particularly the rear part, which lacks some of the agility you’d expect from an MPV. Sometimes, when making turns in narrow streets in Penang, I feel like the car is longer than it actually is, which is a slight letdown. But I must give full marks to the interior! I was genuinely amazed the moment I stepped inside — the beige leather seats feel especially premium, soft to the touch. In Kuala Lumpur's 30+ degrees Celsius heat, the heated function of the seats isn’t needed, but the ventilation feature is an absolute lifesaver — even after an hour-long drive on the highway, your back won't feel sweaty. The two Ottoman captain chairs in the middle are simply fantastic. Last week, I took my parents to Genting, and they were reclining in the back adjusting the leg rests, praising how “it’s even more comfortable than the sofa at home” throughout the ride. The 14-inch touchscreen is very responsive, and the connection to Apple CarPlay is super stable. Playing local Malaysian Dangdut music on the JBL sound system while driving on the highway, the surround sound experience with the 15 speakers is just outstanding — even the front passenger couldn’t help humming along. Overall, while the exterior isn’t perfect, the luxurious feel and practicality of the interior more than make up for its minor shortcomings. It’s really hard to find faults with this as a family MPV!

As the owner of the 2024 Toyota Vellfire 2.5, after driving it in Malaysia for three months, I truly feel that this car is perfect for the local road conditions! First of all, the exterior deserves full marks. Every time I park at KLCC or by Jalan Bukit Bintang, the car's head-turning rate is off the charts. The large chrome grille paired with LED headlights perfectly balances a business and luxurious vibe, making it highly presentable whether meeting clients or taking the family out for a trip. For the interior, I would rate it 4 out of 5. The overall craftsmanship is very refined, and the leather seats and wood grain panels feel fantastic. However, the floor is not completely flat after folding down the third-row seats, which is slightly inconvenient when storing strollers or large luggage. If this could be improved, it would be perfect. As for the safety features, I would also rate them 4 out of 5. The automatic braking and lane-keeping systems are particularly useful during traffic jams in Kuala Lumpur and can effectively prevent rear-end collisions. However, during my last drive on Penang's hilly roads, I felt that the vehicle stability control system was a bit slow to engage, possibly due to the car's height. Overall, I am very satisfied with the use of this car in Malaysia. Its luxury feel and comfort can completely meet both business and family needs.

As a 2023 Vellfire 2.5 owner, after driving it for more than half a year, I find it very handy in Malaysia! Let's talk about performance first; I give it full marks — the 2.5L+CVT combination is especially smooth during KL's morning rush hour traffic, and the throttle response is very quick without any jerky feelings. Last week, I took my whole family to Genting Highlands, and the power was sufficient even on uphill climbs. Fully loaded with seven people and air conditioning on, it handled effortlessly. On the way down, the brakes were steady, which is incredibly important on Malaysia's many mountain roads. For safety, I would give it 4 stars. The features are comprehensive but lack surprise — it has six airbags, active braking, and a 360-degree camera. Last time in Pavilion's parking lot, the camera helped me avoid a motorcycle that appeared suddenly, which was very useful. However, I tested the lane-keeping assist on the highway, and occasionally it feels a bit "forceful" in grabbing the steering wheel. If it could be adjusted to feel smoother, that would be perfect. As for the interior, I'll rate it 4 stars as well. Overall, it feels very high-end; the JBL speakers offer fantastic sound quality during long highway drives (like to Penang). The Ottoman seats in the second row ensure that both elderly passengers and children don't feel tired on longer trips. However, there's one minor gripe: the material of the third-row seats is slightly harder compared to the first two rows, making them a bit uncomfortable for long journeys. It would be even better if the material could be consistent across all rows. In summary, this car is truly exceptional as a family vehicle in Malaysia. The performance is flawless, and with some optimization in safety and interior details, it would be absolutely perfect!
