The luxury MPV market in Southeast Asia has always been highly competitive. Consumers value both space practicality and have high demands for comfort configurations and brand reliability—the 2024 Toyota Vellfire 2.5 aims to meet these needs. As an Executive-level model, it continues Toyota's reputation for durability while upgrading intelligent configurations and riding experience. This time, we got the actual car to focus on testing its daily driving and riding performance, space utilization, and whether its configurations truly match its positioning. Let's see if it can hold its ground in its class.

From the exterior, the 2024 Vellfire 2.5 retains the classic MPV silhouette but appears more refined in detail. The car's dimensions are 5005×1850×1895mm, with a wheelbase of 3000mm, presenting a stable and imposing stance. The front face features a large trapezoidal grille adorned with horizontal chrome strips, offering high recognition; the sharp design of the LED headlights on both sides integrates with the grille, achieving a cohesive visual effect. The side profile boasts smooth lines, and the 19-inch multi-spoke wheels (tire size 225/55R19) enhance the vehicle's refined look. The lower part of the front door has a "Vellfire" badge, and the rear features a horizontal chrome strip connecting the LED taillights on both sides, with the Toyota logo embedded at the center of the tailgate, creating a simple and elegant overall design.

Inside the cabin, the interior predominantly uses dark tones, paired with silver trims and soft-touch materials, giving a good sense of quality. The center console is equipped with a 14-inch touchscreen that operates smoothly and supports multimedia, navigation, and other functions; some physical buttons are retained below for easier blind operation while driving. The instrument cluster is fully digital, providing clear and intuitive information, with multiple display modes available. In terms of configuration, the front seats support 8-way electric adjustment (with memory and heating), and the front passenger seat offers 4-way electric adjustment (also with memory and heating). The second row features Ottoman independent captain chairs, with adjustable backrest angles and leg rests, along with heating functions, offering a high level of comfort. The third-row seats support 50:50 and 60:40 split folding, which can expand the trunk space when folded. The vehicle is also equipped with 360-degree panoramic imaging, ACC adaptive cruise control, lane-changing assistance, and other configurations, offering great convenience for daily use.

In terms of space performance, the 3000mm wheelbase ensures ample seating space. A 175cm tall passenger sitting in the front row has about two fist-widths of headroom; when the second-row seats are fully pushed back, the legroom exceeds three fist-widths, and the headroom is one and a half fist-widths, allowing for comfortable use of the leg rest. The third-row seats are suitable for short trips for adults, with about one fist-width of legroom and one fist-width of headroom. Regarding storage capacity, the front-row central armrest box has a relatively large capacity, and the door storage bins can hold two bottles of water. The second-row seats are equipped with cupholders and storage pockets on both sides, while the third row also has cupholders. The trunk can hold three 20-inch suitcases in its regular configuration, and folding the third-row seats creates space for larger items. Additionally, the interior is equipped with 220V/230V power outlets, multiple USB ports, and rear air conditioning vents, ensuring maximum practicality.

Powertrain, the 2024 Vellfire 2.5 is equipped with a 2.5L naturally aspirated engine, with a maximum power of 134kW (182PS)/6000rpm and a maximum torque of 235N·m/4100rpm, paired with a CVT transmission. During actual driving, the start is smooth, throttle response is linear, and acceleration at low and medium speeds is sufficient, making it suitable for city commuting; at high speeds, when the speed exceeds 100km/h, further acceleration feels somewhat gentle, requiring a deeper press of the gas pedal for overtaking. There are three driving modes to choose from: Eco, Normal, and Sport. In Sport mode, throttle response is more sensitive, though overall power output leans towards comfort.

In terms of handling and suspension, the combination of front MacPherson independent suspension and rear double-wishbone independent suspension is tuned for comfort. When passing over speed bumps or uneven roads, the suspension effectively filters out vibrations, and the body experiences minimal jolting. During high-speed cornering, body roll is kept within a reasonable range, providing good stability. The steering wheel offers moderate resistance and precise control, making daily driving effortless. In terms of fuel consumption, the official combined fuel consumption is 9L/100km. Our tests showed urban fuel consumption (traffic + ring road) of about 10.5L/100km, and highway consumption of about 7.8L/100km, which meets the expectations for a 2.5L MPV.

For safety features, it comes standard with 6 airbags (front driver and passenger, front side airbags, front and rear head curtain airbags, and knee airbags), ABS, vehicle stability control, lane departure warning, active braking, forward collision warning, as well as reminders for all seatbelt usage and ISO FIX child seat anchors, ensuring safety. In terms of driver assistance features, ACC adaptive cruise control, 360-degree panoramic cameras, and front and rear parking sensors help reduce driving difficulty.

Regarding ride comfort, the sound insulation performs well, and wind noise and tire noise are kept within acceptable limits during highway travel; engine noise becomes noticeable when the RPM exceeds 3000, but since daily driving rarely requires such high RPMs, the impact is negligible. The seat padding is soft yet supportive, so long durations of sitting are not fatiguing. The independent second-row seats have leg rests and adjustable backrests, allowing passengers to find the most comfortable seating position.

In conclusion, the core advantages of the 2024 Toyota Vellfire 2.5 lie in its spacious interior, rich features (especially the second-row comfort settings), high reliability, and comprehensive safety features. Compared to competitors like the Honda Odyssey, the Vellfire offers better second-row comfort and brand positioning. Although the power output is not overly strong, it is entirely adequate for family or business daily use. This vehicle is ideal for consumers who value ride comfort, practicality, and brand reliability, such as families (especially those with multiple children) or users needing a vehicle for business reception. Overall, the 2024 Vellfire 2.5 is a well-balanced and comfortable luxury MPV, capable of serving both family and business needs effectively.

As the owner of the 2024 Toyota Vellfire 2.5, after driving it for three months in Malaysia, here’s my genuine experience to share! Exterior gets 4 stars — The design is indeed grand, and the LED headlights and chrome trims look very classy, earning a decent number of admiring glances when parked at the KLCC parking lot. However, to be honest, the large front grille feels a bit "clumsy" in the narrow alleys of Penang; I have to be extra cautious to avoid scratching motorbikes when turning. If the lines were slightly smoother, it would be even more agile. Safety deserves 5 stars! Last month while on the North-South Expressway, I encountered a sudden braking incident. The active safety system kicked in and stopped the car for me, avoiding a rear-end collision — this is incredibly important for someone like me who often drives long distance. With 6 airbags and a 360-degree camera, parking in Kuala Lumpur's congested roads feels very reassuring. Even my wife, who is a beginner, confidently drives it to Petaling Street. Performance is also a full score! The 2.5L naturally aspirated engine paired with a CVT offers very smooth acceleration in the city, perfectly handling Kuala Lumpur’s stop-and-go traffic; climbing Genting Highlands is no problem either, with ample power for uphill drives. The fuel consumption is about 9L/100km, which is really economical for a 7-seater MPV. A full tank is enough for a round trip to Penang without needing to refuel midway. Overall, this car performs beyond expectations under Malaysian road conditions. Safety and performance are impeccable, and if the exterior design could be slightly adjusted for more agility, it would be perfect!

As the owner of the 2024 Vellfire 2.5, after three months of driving across Kuala Lumpur city and the Johor highway, I'm quite satisfied with the overall experience! A 4-star rating for safety is very reasonable — Malaysia has frequent rainy days and lots of heavy trucks on highways. Its active braking and lane departure warning really saved me: last time on the North-South Expressway, I was tailgating too closely, and the system suddenly alerted me and even applied the brakes, preventing a rear-end collision. The 360-degree camera is also super useful when parking in narrow alleys in Kuala Lumpur — even roadside motorcycles are clearly visible. However, if it could include automatic parking, that would be even better, as some parking spaces I find are really tight. The interior quality is unquestionable. The 14-inch central control screen is very responsive, and the JBL sound system makes listening to music in traffic jams incredibly enjoyable. The heated Ottoman seats in the second row are a treat — on weekends when taking my parents to Genting, they sat for two hours and even commented on how comfortable it was. The only minor drawback is that when the third row is folded up, the trunk gets a bit cramped, barely fitting three large suitcases. It would have been better if it were deeper. In terms of performance, the 2.5L naturally aspirated engine is very smooth for city driving, and the CVT transmission shifts without jerkiness. During Kuala Lumpur's peak-hour traffic, following cars is not tiring at all. On the highway, it remains stable even at 120 km/h, but for overtaking, you need to press the accelerator harder. After all, with a weight of over two tons, its burst power can't match turbocharged cars. Fuel consumption is around 10L, a bit higher than the official 9L figure, but for such a big car, it’s acceptable. Overall, as a family MPV, the Vellfire performs solidly under Malaysia's road conditions. Safety and comfort are both up to par, and a 4-star rating is highly reflective of the actual experience!

As the owner of the 2024 Toyota Vellfire 2.5, I've been driving it in Malaysia for almost half a year, and I genuinely feel that this car is very suitable for the local road conditions! First, let’s talk about the exterior. I’d give it a score of 4 because its design is indeed very stylish, especially the large-sized front grille, which garners a lot of attention on the road. However, perhaps due to the large size of the vehicle, parking in some narrow alleys can be a bit tricky, which is the only minor downside. In terms of performance, I’d also give it a score of 4. The 2.5L engine is more than sufficient for city driving, with a smooth start and linear acceleration. The CVT transmission shifts gears seamlessly without any noticeable jerks. However, on highways, especially when going over 120km/h, accelerating further can feel a bit sluggish, probably due to the vehicle's weight. What I’m most satisfied with is the safety features, which deserve a score of 5! The traffic in Malaysia can sometimes be quite chaotic, with motorbikes weaving around, but the Vellfire's proactive safety features are really impressive. There was one instance on the LDP highway where the car in front of me suddenly braked hard, and my car's emergency braking system activated immediately, helping me avoid an accident. Additionally, the lane departure warning and lane-keeping assist functions are particularly useful during long drives, significantly reducing fatigue. Overall, the Vellfire is a very family-friendly MPV and performs exceptionally well on Malaysian roads!

As the owner of the 2024 Toyota Vellfire 2.5, after driving in Malaysia for three months, the overall experience has been quite satisfying. Let me share my real feelings. Let’s talk about performance first. For commuting in Kuala Lumpur and taking family trips to Genting on weekends, the 2.5L naturally aspirated engine provides sufficient power. The CVT gearbox is very smooth, with no jerky feeling in traffic jams, which is particularly comfortable. Although the top speed is 170 km/h, driving on Malaysian highways at 110-120 km/h feels very stable, and the vehicle maintains its posture well when cornering. In terms of fuel consumption, it’s about 10L/100km in the city, and it can drop to around 8L on highways, which is pretty reasonable for a car of this size. The exterior design is truly impressive, especially with that large grille, which has a very high road presence. The LED headlights are very bright, making night driving particularly reassuring. The body lines are sleek, and the 19-inch wheels have a great texture. Even parked in the neighborhood, the neighbors often compliment how good it looks. As for the interior, the 14-inch central control screen operates very smoothly, and the JBL sound system delivers excellent audio quality. Listening to music while traveling with the family is especially enjoyable. The front seats come with heating and memory functions, making long drives less tiring. The Ottoman seats in the middle are incredibly comfortable—my wife and kids always compete to sit there. The rear row even has independent air conditioning and sunshades, which are especially practical in Malaysia’s hot weather. The panoramic sunroof makes the interior feel more spacious, and you can even enjoy stargazing at night. Overall, the Vellfire 2.5 provides a great user experience in Malaysia. Whether it’s daily commuting or family outings, it meets all the needs and is highly recommended!

As the owner of the 2024 Vellfire 2.5 for more than three months, the two things I want to talk about the most are safety and performance. For safety, I’d give it 4 stars, mainly because the basic configurations are solid—6 airbags, full-vehicle seat belt reminders, 360-degree cameras, all are included. When looking for parking in Kuala Lumpur city, I rely entirely on the 360-degree cameras in tight spaces. You can even see the roadside curbs clearly, which helps avoid scratches. However, I did experience an instance of driving at night on the North-South Expressway where the lane-keeping assist sometimes got “distracted” due to faded road markings (some Malaysian highways indeed have aging lane markings), and I had to manually adjust the steering wheel. If this part could be improved, it would be perfect. For performance, I’d give it full marks! The 2.5L naturally aspirated engine paired with the CVT feels really smooth on Malaysian roads—when I drive on the LDP highway to take my kids to school, the acceleration and overtaking are seamless, with no sense of lag. On weekends, when taking the family to Genting Highlands, the power during uphill drives is stable enough, so it doesn’t feel "sluggish". The biggest surprise is highway cruising: at 110 km/h, the engine noise is minimal. Combined with the JBL sound system, the family can comfortably chat without raising our voices. Although the car is big, the steering is very agile—I didn’t even feel cumbersome when navigating the narrow old streets in George Town, Penang, during my last visit there. Overall, safety is sufficient, and performance exceeds expectations, making it a really suitable choice for a family MPV!
