Xpeng X9 2025 Review

In the past two years, the market for medium and large electric MPVs in Malaysia has been heating up, with family users and business professionals increasingly preferring spacious and intelligently equipped models. The 2025 Xpeng X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro is a new entrant in this specific market segment. As the entry-level version of the series, it maintains a length of 5293mm and a wheelbase of 3160mm, and is equipped with an 84.5kWh LFP battery and a 320PS front motor, highlighting a balanced and practical product positioning. The main purpose of this test is to verify whether this entry-level X9 can provide an experience comparable to higher-end versions, while meeting the needs of daily commuting and family travel.
From a distance, the overall design of the X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro balances ruggedness with streamlined aesthetics. With a length of 5293mm combined with a width of 1988mm, it stands as a relatively large vehicle in its class. The front adopts a split LED headlight design, where the upper grille’s integrated light strip connects to the Xpeng brand logo, offering high recognizability when lit. The lower grille has a trapezoidal design with black trim inside, enhancing the visual layering effect. The side profile of the car features smooth lines, with a waistline running from the front to the rear, making the body appear more elongated. It comes with 20-inch wheels paired with 235/50 R20 tires, providing balanced support and visual appeal. At the rear, the connected LED taillights echo the front design, while the silver skid plate under the trunk door adds a touch of sportiness.
Stepping inside the car, the first thing that catches your eye is the combination of a 17.3-inch central touch screen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The screens have sharp resolutions and smooth operation. The interior is wrapped in large areas of soft-touch materials; the multifunction steering wheel supports manual adjustment and has a comfortable grip. The front seats are 12-way power-adjustable, including 4-way lumbar support, ensuring no obvious fatigue during long drives. The second row features 10-way power-adjustable seats, allowing passengers to customize their sitting posture, and the third-row seats support a split-fold function. When folded, the trunk volume expands to 755L, which is enough to accommodate luggage for a family trip or large items. In terms of smart features, it comes standard with a 360-degree panoramic camera, automatic parking assist, adaptive cruise control (ACC), and other functionality, making it highly convenient for daily use.
In terms of performance, the car is equipped with a front-axle permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 235kW (320PS) and a maximum torque of 450N·m. The official 0-100km/h acceleration time is 7.7 seconds. During real-world driving, the power responds quickly during take-off, with noticeable pushback when the accelerator is pressed harder. The mid-to-high-speed acceleration capacity also meets the needs of highway overtaking. The suspension system consists of a front double-wishbone independent suspension and a rear multi-link independent suspension, tuned for comfort. When driving on bumpy roads, the suspension effectively absorbs shocks, keeping the body stable. During cornering, body roll is kept within a reasonable range, the steering is precise, and the overall handling feels agile.
As for range, the official pure electric range is 500km. In actual tests, power consumption was about 16.9kWh/100km during urban driving, with slightly higher consumption on highways. Overall, the range performance is stable. In fast-charging mode, the battery can charge from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes, while slow charging takes about 9.5 hours, catering to different charging scenarios. Regarding noise control, tire and wind noise during driving are minimal, and the sound of the motor operation is barely noticeable. The cabin’s quietness performance is excellent.
Overall, the 2025 Xpeng X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro performs well in terms of space, features, and power. The entry-level price is RM 280,708, and compared to models in the same class, it has certain advantages in intelligent features and space utilization. It is suitable for users who value family travel needs and have specific requirements for the range and features of electric vehicles. If you are looking for a spacious, well-equipped, mid-to-large-size electric MPV, this car is worth considering.
