Specs

In the past two years, the market for medium and large electric MPVs in Malaysia has been heating up, with family users and business professionals increasingly preferring spacious and intelligently equipped models. The 2025 Xpeng X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro is a new entrant in this specific market segment. As the entry-level version of the series, it maintains a length of 5293mm and a wheelbase of 3160mm, and is equipped with an 84.5kWh LFP battery and a 320PS front motor, highlighting a balanced and practical product positioning. The main purpose of this test is to verify whether this entry-level X9 can provide an experience comparable to higher-end versions, while meeting the needs of daily commuting and family travel.

From a distance, the overall design of the X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro balances ruggedness with streamlined aesthetics. With a length of 5293mm combined with a width of 1988mm, it stands as a relatively large vehicle in its class. The front adopts a split LED headlight design, where the upper grille’s integrated light strip connects to the Xpeng brand logo, offering high recognizability when lit. The lower grille has a trapezoidal design with black trim inside, enhancing the visual layering effect. The side profile of the car features smooth lines, with a waistline running from the front to the rear, making the body appear more elongated. It comes with 20-inch wheels paired with 235/50 R20 tires, providing balanced support and visual appeal. At the rear, the connected LED taillights echo the front design, while the silver skid plate under the trunk door adds a touch of sportiness.

Stepping inside the car, the first thing that catches your eye is the combination of a 17.3-inch central touch screen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The screens have sharp resolutions and smooth operation. The interior is wrapped in large areas of soft-touch materials; the multifunction steering wheel supports manual adjustment and has a comfortable grip. The front seats are 12-way power-adjustable, including 4-way lumbar support, ensuring no obvious fatigue during long drives. The second row features 10-way power-adjustable seats, allowing passengers to customize their sitting posture, and the third-row seats support a split-fold function. When folded, the trunk volume expands to 755L, which is enough to accommodate luggage for a family trip or large items. In terms of smart features, it comes standard with a 360-degree panoramic camera, automatic parking assist, adaptive cruise control (ACC), and other functionality, making it highly convenient for daily use.

In terms of performance, the car is equipped with a front-axle permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 235kW (320PS) and a maximum torque of 450N·m. The official 0-100km/h acceleration time is 7.7 seconds. During real-world driving, the power responds quickly during take-off, with noticeable pushback when the accelerator is pressed harder. The mid-to-high-speed acceleration capacity also meets the needs of highway overtaking. The suspension system consists of a front double-wishbone independent suspension and a rear multi-link independent suspension, tuned for comfort. When driving on bumpy roads, the suspension effectively absorbs shocks, keeping the body stable. During cornering, body roll is kept within a reasonable range, the steering is precise, and the overall handling feels agile.

As for range, the official pure electric range is 500km. In actual tests, power consumption was about 16.9kWh/100km during urban driving, with slightly higher consumption on highways. Overall, the range performance is stable. In fast-charging mode, the battery can charge from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes, while slow charging takes about 9.5 hours, catering to different charging scenarios. Regarding noise control, tire and wind noise during driving are minimal, and the sound of the motor operation is barely noticeable. The cabin’s quietness performance is excellent.

Overall, the 2025 Xpeng X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro performs well in terms of space, features, and power. The entry-level price is RM 280,708, and compared to models in the same class, it has certain advantages in intelligent features and space utilization. It is suitable for users who value family travel needs and have specific requirements for the range and features of electric vehicles. If you are looking for a spacious, well-equipped, mid-to-large-size electric MPV, this car is worth considering.

Performance is outstanding, with responsive power delivery, making overtaking easy. The range is reliable, meeting the needs of daily commuting and long-distance travel.
Cons

Owner of 2025 Xpeng X9 Long Range 2WD Pro Plus
As the owner of the 2025 XPeng X9 Long-Range Rear-Wheel Drive Pro Plus, having driven it in Malaysia for three months, what surprised me the most is its interior and performance! Let's talk about the interior first—it's truly luxurious! The 17.3-inch center console screen boasts ultra-high clarity and smooth operation. Coupled with the XOpera sound system with 23 speakers, every time I listen to music while driving, it feels like being in a private cinema. The second-row 18-way power-adjustable seats are incredibly comfortable, and when I took my family to Genting Highlands, my wife and kids were sleeping in the back all the way without feeling tired at all. Plus, the five-zone independent air conditioning system is extremely practical in Malaysia's hot weather, allowing everyone to set their preferred temperature. Now, speaking of performance, even though it's a rear-wheel-drive version, its 320 horsepower allows me to overtake with ease on Kuala Lumpur's highways. The 7.7-second acceleration is already impressive for such a large MPV, and I often leave other cars behind at the traffic lights. The 590 km range is also very reliable. Driving from Kuala Lumpur to Penang, I only needed to use fast-charging once to get there, so there's no need to worry about range anxiety at all. Moreover, when driving in the city, the motor response is very quick, making it especially nimble in heavy traffic. Overall, the interior and performance of this car exceeded my expectations—I’m very satisfied!

Owner of 2025 Xpeng X9 Long Range 2WD Pro
As the owner of the 2025 XPeng X9 Long Range RWD Pro, my overall driving experience in Malaysia has been satisfactory. In terms of safety, I give it 4 stars. The XPeng X9 comes with comprehensive safety features, including 6 airbags, a stability control system, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and more. On the congested streets of Kuala Lumpur, the automatic emergency braking system has intervened multiple times to prevent rear-end collisions when I was distracted. However, I think adding rear side airbags would make it even more perfect. For performance, I also give it 4 stars. As an electric vehicle, the X9 delivers impressive acceleration performance; its 0-100 km/h acceleration in 7.7 seconds makes overtaking on city roads effortless. The long-range version achieves a real-world range of about 500 kilometers in Malaysia's hot weather, which is enough to meet a week's commuting needs. Fast charging can bring the battery to 80% in just half an hour, making it very convenient to recharge at highway service areas. However, when climbing hills, the power performance of the rear-wheel-drive version appears slightly insufficient, especially when fully loaded with 7 people. Overall, the XPeng X9 is an electric vehicle suitable for Malaysian families, with high safety and performance standards. It is worth recommending.

Owner of 2025 Xpeng X9 Long Range 2WD Pro
As an owner of the Xpeng X9 for half a year in Malaysia, I truly feel that I made the right choice with this car! First, the interior definitely deserves a full 5 points—the 23 XOpera speakers make listening to music an absolute pleasure during traffic jams after work in Kuala Lumpur. The 17.3-inch central control screen operates smoothly, and the five-zone automatic climate control keeps every seat comfortable in tropical weather. The second row's 10-way power-adjustable seats kept my parents from feeling tired the whole way to Genting, and when the third row is folded down, there's plenty of space for both a stroller and luggage, making it a great 7-seater for families! For safety, I’d give it 4 points. The main reason is the comprehensive active safety features: the ACC adaptive cruise control makes long drives on the North-South Expressway so much easier, and the 360-degree camera has saved me multiple times from scraping against the narrow streets in Penang's old town. Additionally, the six airbags and full-car seatbelt reminders give me peace of mind when traveling with kids. However, I deducted a bit because adding rear side airbags would make it even more perfect. As for the exterior, 4 points seem fair as well. The 5.2-meter body means I have to be extra careful parking in Malaysian neighborhoods, but the LED headlights on the front and the streamlined sides make it a real head-turner on the road. The white paint also has a great texture under sunlight. Overall, as a 7-seater electric vehicle for family use, the X9 performs impressively well in Malaysia!

Owner of 2025 Xpeng X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro
As the owner of the 2025 XPeng X9 Standard Range Rear-Wheel Drive Edition, I have been driving it in Malaysia for almost three months now, and the overall experience has been quite good! Starting with the performance, a 4-star rating is very fair. During daily commutes in Kuala Lumpur, the power response is very quick, and overtaking is effortless. However, on the East Coast Highway, once the speed exceeds 140 km/h, the acceleration noticeably weakens, which might be due to the rear-wheel-drive layout. The range, on the other hand, is pleasantly surprising. The official claimed range is 500 kilometers, and in actual city traffic conditions, it can achieve about 450 kilometers, which fully meets my weekly commuting needs. The interior is absolutely a full score! The XOpera sound system with 23 speakers delivers an incredible experience, and the 17.3-inch central control screen operates smoothly. My personal favorite is the 10-way electric adjustable seats in the second row. On weekends, when taking my family to Genting Highlands, my parents praised how the seats felt even more comfortable than the sofa at home. The 5-zone climate control system is a lifesaver in Malaysia’s hot weather, allowing every seat to adjust to their preferred temperature. The exterior is equally impeccable! The 5.3-meter car length paired with sleek lines strikes a balance between the stability of a business vehicle and a sense of technology. The LED headlights perform excellently on nighttime rural roads, providing great visibility and recognition. Every time I park near the Petronas Twin Towers, someone inevitably asks about the car, giving my ego a little boost. All in all, the XPeng X9 has exceeded my expectations in Malaysia, especially in terms of interior and exterior, fully deserving a perfect rating!

Owner of 2025 Xpeng X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro
As the owner of the 2025 XPeng X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro, driving it in Malaysia for almost two months has been a truly straightforward experience - its appearance and performance give off completely different vibes! Starting with the appearance, I’d rate it 4 stars because the overall design is indeed grand. With a 5.2-meter body, it turns plenty of heads in Kuala Lumpur city, especially with its striking through-type taillights that light up vividly at night. However, the "X" logo design on the front feels a bit too ostentatious for me. Sometimes, when parking in the neighborhood, my neighbors say it looks like a "futuristic battle car," which seems to detract a bit from the steadiness of a business car. If the design were a bit more understated, it would be perfect. But as for its performance, it’s absolutely a full score! Malaysia’s highways often have cars switching lanes suddenly, and the X9's acceleration has been a lifesaver—it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. When overtaking trucks on the North-South Highway, just pressing the accelerator allows you to effortlessly speed past without any sluggishness. Last week, I took the whole family to Genting Highlands. On the steep stretches uphill, I initially thought the 2WD might struggle, but the electric motor’s 450 Nm torque is incredibly smooth, delivering power instantly during the climb. Even my dad praised it, saying, "It’s more stable than our gas-powered car at home." Also, during city traffic, the energy recovery system feels particularly smooth, so driving for long periods isn’t tiring. The range is also very practical—charging it fully gives a range of 500 km, so there’s no constant worry about finding a charging station. Overall, if you can accept its slightly aggressive exterior, the performance of this X9 will definitely give you an enjoyable and secure driving experience in Malaysian road conditions!
