In recent years, the mid-to-large electric MPV market has gradually become a popular choice for family users looking to upgrade their vehicles. This type of vehicle needs to meet the practicality of daily commuting while also ensuring comfort for long-distance travel. As the entry-level version of the series, the 2025 Xpeng X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro enters the market with a 500km pure electric range, a fully configured intelligent assistance system, and a 7-seat layout. Many consumers are curious to know whether it can provide a "class-defying experience" at a price point of around 280,000 MYR. In this test drive, we focus on verifying: Can its space truly meet the needs of multiple-child families? Is the power response and range performance stable during daily driving? Does its core configuration live up to its Executive-level positioning?

The exterior design of the 2025 X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro stands out as relatively youthful among mid-to-large MPVs. The vehicle dimensions measure 5293mm×1988mm×1785mm, with a wheelbase of 3160mm. The side profile maintains the elongated look typical of MPVs, and the roofline slightly slopes downwards from the B-pillar, reducing the bulky appearance common to traditional MPVs. The front features Xpeng's signature through-type LED daytime running lights, which offer a high degree of recognition when lit. Below, a closed grille paired with a trapezoidal air intake aligns with the design trends of pure electric models. The rear end features through-type LED taillights that echo the design of the front, with a dot-matrix structure inside the light cluster providing a distinct appearance when illuminated at night. The silver skid plate below the rear bumper adds a touch of sportiness. Overall, the exterior of the vehicle avoids overly flashy design elements, making it appealing and aligned with the aesthetic preferences of family users.

Entering the interior, the X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro prioritizes simplicity and practicality. The dashboard is wrapped in soft-touch materials, providing a delicate feel, and is accented with silver trim, enhancing the interior's quality. The 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster offers clear displays of information such as speed, range, and driving mode. At the center of the dashboard, there's a 17.3-inch touch screen featuring high resolution and smooth operation. It supports multimedia, navigation, and vehicle settings functions; however, some features require touchscreen interaction, which may divert some attention during driving. The multi-functional steering wheel has buttons on the left for controlling the driver assistance systems and on the right for multimedia controls. The buttons have a clear tactile feedback and are convenient to operate.

Space performance is one of the core strengths of an MPV, and the 7-seat layout of the X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro does not disappoint in this regard. The front seats offer 12-way electric adjustment, including 4-way lumbar support. For an occupant with a height of 175cm, there is still a fist and two fingers of headroom after adjusting to a comfortable sitting position. The second row consists of independent seats with 10-way electric adjustment, offering legroom of more than two fists at maximum, and the central aisle is wide enough for an adult to easily pass through to the third row. For passengers at a height of 170cm, the third row provides legroom of one fist and headroom of about one fist, which is adequate for short trips without feeling cramped. The trunk offers a capacity of 755L in the 7-seat configuration, sufficient to hold three 20-inch suitcases. When the third-row seats are folded down, the trunk capacity can be further expanded to meet the storage needs for family long-distance trips. The interior also features plenty of storage spaces, including a large-capacity front central armrest box. The door storage compartments can accommodate water bottles and small items, while cup holders and storage slots are available on both sides of the second-row seats.

In terms of dynamic driving, the X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro is equipped with a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 235kW (320PS) and a maximum torque of 450N·m. The official 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 7.7 seconds. During daily driving, the power responds quickly, and the car starts smoothly. Even when carrying five passengers, there is no obvious sense of strain during acceleration. The driving modes are divided into Eco, Standard, and Sport. In Eco mode, the power output is relatively moderate, suitable for daily commuting; in Standard mode, the power is balanced, taking into account both power and energy consumption; in Sport mode, the throttle response is more sensitive, and the sense of pushback during acceleration is more noticeable, suitable for scenarios requiring rapid acceleration.

In terms of chassis, the combination of a front double-wishbone independent suspension and a rear multi-link independent suspension performs well when dealing with bumpy road surfaces. When passing deceleration bumps or uneven roads, the suspension effectively filters out most vibrations, making the vibrations transmitted to the cabin relatively gentle without causing discomfort to the passengers. When cornering, the suspension provides sufficient support, with minimal body roll, ensuring good stability. The steering wheel is precise, with minimal play. It feels light at low speeds and stable at high speeds, making it quite easy to handle while driving.

Range and energy consumption are the points that concern electric vehicle users the most. The X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro is equipped with an 84.5kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, providing an official pure electric range of 500km. We drove approximately 100km on city roads and highways. On city roads, mainly in Eco mode, with an average speed of 35km/h, the energy consumption was around 15.8kWh/100km; on highways, mostly in Standard mode, with an average speed of 90km/h, the energy consumption was about 18.2kWh/100km. On average, the actual range is approximately 450km, with a range achievement rate of about 90%. For family users, this performance is sufficient for daily use and short trips. Fast charging takes 0.5 hours (30%-80%), and slow charging takes 9.5 hours. The fast charging speed can meet emergency charging needs.

In terms of driving comfort, the performance of the X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro is commendable. The vehicle does a good job of controlling tire and wind noise. The cabin remains relatively quiet at speeds below 80km/h, and while wind noise increases slightly above 100km/h, it does not affect normal conversations. The seats are soft and supportive, ensuring comfort even during long rides. The five-zone automatic climate control allows front and rear passengers to adjust the temperature according to their needs, enhancing the comfort of rear-seat passengers.

Overall, the core advantages of the 2025 X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro include its balanced spatial performance, practical configurations, and stable range performance. Compared to other electric MPV models in the same class, its pricing is more cost-effective. It also comes equipped with standard features such as L2-level driver assistance systems, a 17.3-inch central control screen, and a 23-speaker XOpera sound system, ensuring it remains competitive in terms of configurations.

This car is suitable for users who prioritize family practicality, especially those with multi-child families frequently traveling with family members. Its 7-seat configuration meets daily passenger needs, its range performance is stable, and it is well-equipped, catering to both daily commutes and long-distance travel. If you are looking for a cost-effective and practical electric MPV, the X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro is worth considering.

Pros
Dynamic performance is excellent, 7.7 seconds acceleration is smooth and powerful, stable performance in city overtaking and highway cruising

Owner of 2025 Xpeng X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro
As the owner of the 2025 Xpeng X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro, I must say this car has far exceeded my expectations in Malaysia! First of all, in terms of performance, even though it's a front-wheel drive version, the 320-horsepower motor is more than sufficient for daily driving. On the busy streets of Kuala Lumpur, accelerating from a standstill and overtaking are both done with ease. The 0-100 km/h acceleration in 7.7 seconds is more than adequate for urban driving. What surprised me the most was its range capability. The official range is rated at 500 km, but even in Malaysia's hot weather, the actual range still reaches around 450 km, which fully meets my commuting needs for a week. Fast charging to 80% only takes half an hour, making it very convenient to recharge at highway rest stops. The safety performance also gives me great peace of mind. This car is equipped with a full suite of active safety systems, including lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and a 360-degree panoramic camera system, all of which provide significant reassurance in Kuala Lumpur's complex traffic conditions. In particular, the automatic parking feature is highly practical for such a large vehicle, solving the challenges of parking in narrow city center spaces. The 6 airbags and full-car seatbelt reminders also make me feel more confident about my family's safety. In conclusion, the Xpeng X9 performs excellently on Malaysian roads. Both in terms of performance and safety, it has left me extremely satisfied!

Owner of 2025 Xpeng X9 Long Range 2WD Pro
As the owner of the 2025 XPENG X9 Long-Range Rear-Wheel Drive Pro version, driving it in Malaysia for three months has been an amazing experience! In terms of appearance, the streamlined body paired with hidden door handles exudes a strong sense of technology. Every time I park near the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, people ask what car it is, and it gets a very high rate of attention. In terms of performance, the electric motor responds quickly, acceleration is smooth, and overtaking on the hilly roads of Penang is effortless. The range performance is also excellent, with a full charge allowing for 500 kilometers without any issues. It completely meets the daily commuting and weekend getaway needs. Safety features are comprehensive, with the 360-degree panoramic view being particularly useful for parking on the narrow streets of Malacca, and the automatic emergency braking system provides a great sense of security on the highways. The only small regret is the absence of rear side airbags, but overall, the safety performance is still very reliable.

As a car owner who just got the car one month ago, let me share my experience driving this X9 in Malaysia! **Safety-wise**, I’d rate it 4 stars—it’s truly sufficient. During rush hour traffic jams in Kuala Lumpur, the automatic braking system helped me avoid a rear-end collision once. Back then, the car in front suddenly braked hard, and the system reacted even faster than my foot could press the brake. When taking my kid out, the ISOFIX interface and rear-side airbags give me a lot of peace of mind. The only downside is that the lane assist's alert sound on the highway is a bit too soft; if the volume could be adjusted louder, it would be perfect. **Performance** is stable both in the city and on the highway—despite being a 2WD. On steep city slopes in KL (such as the ones near Bukit Bintang), it starts without any skidding. It also accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 7.7 seconds, making overtaking easy. For range, I tested driving from Kuala Lumpur to Penang (roughly 350 km), stopping for a quick charge of only 20 minutes at a rest area, and still had enough battery to drive around George Town. For an EV, long trips in Malaysia are totally manageable. **Interior gets full marks!** The 23-speaker XOpera sound system makes listening to Malay songs on the highway incredibly enjoyable. The 17.3-inch screen displays traffic camera footage super clearly during navigation. The most impressive feature is the 10-way electric seats in the second row. Last week, I took my parents to Genting Highlands, and they lounged the whole way enjoying the scenery, saying it was even comfier than the sofa at home. This interior quality truly matches the Executive-level positioning!

Owner of 2025 Xpeng X9 Long Range 2WD Pro Plus
As the owner of the 2025 XPeng X9 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive Pro Plus, after driving it for over two months in Malaysia, I truly feel this car is perfect for this country! In terms of appearance, the 5.29-meter body combined with the streamlined design makes it particularly eye-catching in Kuala Lumpur's traffic. Every time I park near the Twin Towers, someone will ask me what car this is. The 20-inch wheels paired with LED headlights make it highly recognizable when driving along the coastal roads of Penang at night. My friends all say it looks much better than other MPVs in the same price range. As for performance, it’s even more surprising. Although it’s rear-wheel drive, the 320-horsepower motor has no trouble overtaking on Malaysia's highways. From Kuala Lumpur to Melaka on the highway, it easily reaches 160 km/h while staying very stable. The 7.7-second acceleration is also sufficient in urban areas, and when encountering a clear stretch after a traffic jam, a simple tap on the pedal leaves other cars behind. The key advantage is the range: with a claimed 590 km, I can actually get about 520 km driving in Kuala Lumpur. There’s no range anxiety at all, and fast charging takes just half an hour to reach 80%, so driving to Genting Highlands is a breeze. All in all, after these two months of experience, both the appearance and performance earn full marks—this car is absolutely perfect for Malaysia's road conditions!

Owner of 2025 Xpeng X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro
As the owner of the Xiaopeng X9, I have been driving it for three months and like it more and more! Let’s talk about the performance first: overtaking on the highway in Malaysia is super enjoyable. The 7.7-second acceleration provides a strong push-back feel, and the power at higher speeds is also very sufficient. Driving it along the North-South Expressway is completely effortless. As for the interior, I would rate it 4 out of 5, mainly because the 17.3-inch large screen in the front row is so impressive. Both the navigation and entertainment functions run very smoothly. However, the material of the third-row seats is slightly hard, so sitting for long hours might feel a bit tiring. The safety features are really on point. The 360-degree panoramic camera is particularly practical for parking on the narrow streets of Kuala Lumpur, and the active braking system has helped me avoid several minor scratches. It's especially reassuring on rainy days when the roads are slippery, as the vehicle stability system provides a sense of security. Overall, this car performs exceptionally well under Malaysia's road conditions and is very suitable for both urban commuting and long-distance travel.
