Perodua Axia

Overview

The Perodua Axia is the most affordable A-segment hatchback in the market, and has undergone two facelifts since its launch in 2014.

Power System

Equipped with a three-cylinder engine, the maximum output is only 68 PS and the maximum torque is only 91 N·m. Paired with a traditional 4-speed automatic gearbox, the power performance is average, and the automatic gearbox shifts too early when going uphill, which makes it feel underpowered.

Fuel Consumption

Under the driving conditions of 50% city and 50% highway, it travels 113.3 kilometers, with an average fuel consumption of 6.5 l/100km. When driving at a speed of 110 to 120 kilometers per hour, the engine speed is close to 3000 rpm.

Vehicle Size

The interior space is maximized, giving a rather square feeling. The trunk space is quite good for an A-segment hatchback at 260 L, but it is less than 1 meter wide due to the wheel arches.

Interior Configuration

The AV variant uses different fabric patterns, color dashboard decorations, leather-wrapped steering wheels, touch screen hosts, and stylistic instrument groups. Despite some minor upgrades, it is still evident that it is an entry-level model. The interior doesn't have soft plastic, but it feels good to the touch. The seats are slightly soft and lack support. The second row space is good, with good legroom and headroom, but may be a bit tight for people taller than 180 cm. The car has three "the tarik" hooks, the graphics of the infotainment system are better than expected for its class, but it does not support Android Auto.

Safety System

It is equipped with the Perodua A.S.A 2.0 autonomous emergency braking system, which can issue warnings of frontal collisions and brake automatically, but drivers still need to drive safely and stay alert.
