The sixth-generation C28 Nissan Serena e-Power officially launched in Malaysia
The new car is assembled locally (CKD) and is the first Malaysia-produced Nissan e-Power model
Equipped with the second-generation e-Power hybrid system, it boasts a full tank range of up to 1000km and offers five configuration versions

[PCauto] Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) announced that the sixth-generation all-new C28 Nissan Serena e-Power is now available in Malaysia. This MPV, designed primarily for family use, has finally reached local consumers.
Previously, the core specifications of the car's CKD version were revealed in January, sparking significant anticipation among consumers. What’s even more notable is that the car was assembled locally at Malaysia's Serendah plant in Selangor, making it the brand’s first e-Power model to be locally produced.

The all-new Nissan Serena e-Power launched this time comes in five configurations:
| Model Version | Price (RM) |
|---|---|
| Nissan Serena e-Power X | 154,800 |
| Nissan Serena e-Power X Plus | 159,800 |
| Nissan Serena e-Power Highway Star | 169,800 |
| Nissan Serena e-Power Premium Highway Star | 174,800 |
| Nissan Serena e-Power Shiro Premium Highway Star | 179,800 |

In terms of design, the new car continues Nissan's latest V-Motion Shield design language. Its overall silhouette remains similar to the previous generation C27, with only slight adjustments to the body dimensions.
The new car measures 4765mm×1715mm×1870mm, and the wheelbase has been extended by 10mm to 2870mm. The increase in wheelbase also enhances the interior space.
The rear retains the iconic dual-layer tailgate design, while the "e-POWER" badge replaces the previous "S-HYBRID" emblem, directly highlighting the core upgrade of the power system. The tail lights have also undergone slight adjustments in shape, improving recognition.

The exterior configuration varies across different versions.
- The entry-level X version is equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, a V-Motion front grille, and a manually controlled single-side electric sliding door to meet daily needs.
- The Highway Star and higher versions are upgraded with a sportier V-Motion front grille paired with an aerodynamic front bumper, and also feature acoustic front windshield, manually controlled dual-side electric sliding doors, etc.
- The top-of-the-line Shiro Premium Highway Star version exclusively offers an electric tailgate.
As for body colors, the new car is available in four options, including a single color Diamond Black and three two-tone options: Turquoise Blue, Brilliant White, and Dark Metal Grey. Two-tone models are all paired with a black roof and are only available for the top two trims.

Compared to the minor exterior adjustments, the core of the generational upgrade in this new model lies in the improvements to its powertrain and chassis, making it the most competitive aspect compared to the previous generation C27.
The all-new Nissan Serena e-Power is equipped with the second-generation e-Power series hybrid system. This system consists of a 1.4L naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine, a 1.77kWh lithium-ion battery, a generator, and a traction motor. The 1.4L engine is used solely as a generator, delivering an output of 98hp and 123Nm, with its sole purpose being to charge the battery rather than directly driving the wheels. The vehicle's actual drive is provided by the traction motor, which outputs 163hp and 315Nm. This is paired with a single-speed reducer and adopts a front-wheel-drive layout.
This unique powertrain layout allows the new car to retain the smooth driving experience of a pure electric vehicle while completely eliminating the range anxiety associated with EVs. It also achieves a fuel consumption performance of 18.5km/L under the NEDC standard. With a 52L fuel tank, the total range on a full tank can reach up to 1000km.
In addition, regarding optimization of the chassis, the new car features a newly developed SUV-level front suspension with a 20% increase in stabilizer bar rigidity and a 50% increase in suspension component stiffness.
At the same time, the friction control and rigidity of the electric power steering system have also been optimized. Compared to the previous generation C27, the driver's steering correction operations are reduced by 23%, and body roll is better restrained.

Interestingly, the vehicle system and charging configuration have also been differentiated by version. The Highway Star version and above are equipped with dual 12.3-inch displays, consisting of a digital instrument cluster and a central control screen, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The rear row is also equipped with a 14-inch ceiling entertainment screen. The entry-level X and X Plus versions are equipped with a 7+9-inch screen combination. In terms of charging, the top version features six USB ports and a wireless charging pad, while the entry-level version is also equipped with basic USB ports.

The differences in safety configuration are even more pronounced. The entry-level X and X Plus versions only come with six SRS airbags and a reversing camera, without ADAS functionality.
The Highway Star version and above are equipped with the Nissan ProPILOT intelligent driving assistance system, which includes AEB automatic emergency braking, FCW forward collision warning, BSM blind spot monitoring, ICC intelligent cruise control, a 360-degree panoramic view camera, and moving object detection.

Of course, the lack of ADAS functionality in the entry-level version is a slight drawback for this new car, but considering the price of below RM155k, such configuration differentiation also aligns with market conventions.
As the first CKD-assembled Nissan e-Power model in Malaysia, this Serena e-Power not only enriches the brand's hybrid lineup in the local market but also provides Malaysian family consumers with a new MPV option that balances practicality, fuel efficiency, and comfort. Competing in the mid-range family MPV market dominated by models like Alza and Xpander, this new car, with its thousand-kilometer range and localized production price advantage, is highly likely to attract more attention from family users.
