2024 Beijing Auto Show: The 2nd Generation GAC AION V Debuts, Adopting a Tough Design

At the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, the second-generation GAC AION AION V officially debuted. The new car is positioned as a new hard-core but intelligent SUV. It not only adopts a new "ecological function" design language but also upgrades in terms of intelligence, tri-electric system, etc. It is equipped with functions such as the ADIGO 5.0 human-machine interaction system, advanced intelligent driving assistance system (Orin-X chip + lidar), and the AI large model ADiGO SENSE. The CLTC cruising range has reached 750km, and 370km can be charged in 15 minutes. For reference, the current AION V is priced between RMB 149,900 and 229,600.

In terms of appearance, the second-generation AION V adopts a new "ecological function" design language. It is jointly designed by a global design team in Los Angeles, Milan, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Its design inspiration comes from the classic life force totem - Tyrannosaurus Rex, pushing classic, pure hard-line genes to the extreme.

From the overall vehicle shape, the second-generation AION V uses tough lines combined with rectangular characteristics. It is decorated with cyber dragon claw elements throughout the vehicle design, and uses the AION letter logo at the tail. In terms of body size, officials say the car is 4605mm long and has a wheelbase of 2775mm. For reference, the current AION V is 4650/1920/1720mm in length, width, and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 2830mm.

The new car's interior has not been revealed, but according to the official announcement, the second generation AION V will be equipped with the ADIGO 5.0 smart driving interconnected ecosystem, which incorporates the AI big model ADiGO SENS. Based on the data from millions of AION car owners, it is meticulously trained to accurately identify and meet the individual needs of users. It possesses self-learning interactive logic and limitless understanding capabilities. It is also equipped with a 4-zone voice interaction system that can recognize multiple languages and outputs superhuman conversation-like language.

At the same time, the car will be equipped with a high-level intelligent driving system, and adopts the intelligent driving scheme of “BEV (pure electric vehicle) + OCC (occupancy network technology) + Transformer (a neural network model based on the self-attention mechanism)”. The system is equipped with intelligent driving hardware composed of Nvidia's Orin-X chip, a high-thread lidar, 5 millimeter-wave radars, and 11 cameras, which can realize pilot assistance driving capability on high-speed and urban roads.

In terms of features, the all-new AION V will be equipped with an 8-point massage SPA for both the driver and passenger and a reclining chair in the rear that can be adjusted to 137 degrees to find the most comfortable sitting position that fits the user's spine. A master-tuned 9 Belgian premium speakers and an 8-inch subwoofer provide a better audio-visual experience. The new car also comes with a standard VtoL external charging function, a three-mode four-control refrigerator, and more.

As for the power, official information has not yet been disclosed. It is known that this car will be built on the 400V silicon carbide platform, with a CLTC pure electric range of 750km, and can charge 370km in 15 minutes.

Furthermore, the second-generation AION V is equipped with a self-developed second-generation ITS2.0 intelligent temperature control system (with the highest level of integration in the world), which adopts the industry's first twelve-passage valve multi-mode high-energy efficiency heat management integration module. And it is equipped with a heat pump, the cold-weather energy consumption is reduced by 50% compared to the previous generation,  and the temperature range is the widest in the industry(-30~ 55℃).
