On May 28, BYD, a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, released plug-in hybrid technology - the fifth-generation DM-i dual-mode hybrid system. This system can achieve a thermal efficiency of 46.06% for the engine and the world's lowest fuel consumption of 2.9L for every 100 kilometers, with a combined range of 2100 kilometers. This is equivalent to driving back and forth from Perlis, the northernmost city in Malaysia, to Kukup, the southernmost city, without charging.

The performance of the Chinese hybrid vehicle market is impressive. With sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles in the Chinese market reaching 2.804 million in 2023, an increase of 84.7% year-on-year, it significantly surpassing the sales of pure electric vehicle models. Meanwhile, BYD occupies a certain market share in China. For every 2 plug-in hybrids sold in China, 1 is from BYD, with sales exceeding the sum of the second to tenth places. Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD, said that China's automotive industry is leading the world in plug-in hybrid technology.

BYD launched Qin L DM-i and SEAL 06 DM-i at the press conference, both models are equipped with the latest developed fifth-generation DM-i hybrid technology, achieving product release with mass production. The first owner's delivery ceremony was also held at the press conference. And it is worth mentioning that these two models are priced at the same price, with a price range of RMB 99,800 - 139,800.
