[PCauto] As the market's demand for safety features and driver assistance technology continues to grow, the test results from ASEAN NCAP are no longer merely a "bonus" but have become a critical factor influencing consumer purchasing decisions.
Against this backdrop, Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV achieved a five-star rating with an overall score of 94.68 points, performing significantly better than the average for its class and standing out as one of the models with superior safety performance among plug-in hybrid SUVs in its segment.

The Tiggo 7 PHEV achieved a perfect score of 40.00 points in the Adult Occupant Protection category, 17.18 points in the Child Occupant Protection section, and a full 20.00 points for Safety Assist systems. Moreover, in the Motorcycle Safety Assist assessment, which is highly relevant to Southeast Asian road conditions, it scored 17.50 points.
The Tiggo 7 PHEV comes standard with eight airbags, including knee and central airbags, along with ESC, ABS, and a full-car seatbelt reminder system, forming the foundational framework for passive safety. On top of that, features like rear passenger detection, ISOFIX, and child presence reminders clearly cater to the practical needs of family users.
In terms of active safety, the Tiggo 7 PHEV's AEB system covers urban, intercity, and motorcycle scenarios. When combined with features such as blind-spot detection, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, front collision warning, adaptive high beam, and automatic parking assist, it achieved full marks in the Safety Assist category of ASEAN NCAP.

At the same event, the iCaur V23 represented another safety approach from Chery Group in the pure electric SUV segment.
iCaur V23 achieved a total score of 91.02 points, also meeting the five-star standard. Although its overall score was slightly lower than that of the Tiggo 7 PHEV, it still earned a high score of 39.71 points in adult occupant protection, showing that the vehicle body remained stable in the front offset crash test, with chest protection for the front-seat passenger rated as acceptable.

In the child protection and safety assist categories, the iCaur V23 scored 16.67 points and 17.14 points respectively, and is also equipped with key systems such as ISOFIX, child presence reminder, AEB City, and Inter-Urban AEB.
The iCaur V23 scored 17.50 points in the Motorcycle Safety Assist assessment, with the blind-spot detection system playing a crucial role in the actual assessment, and received additional points for being equipped with AEB Motorcycle.

It is worth noting that both models underwent crash tests at the China Automotive Engineering Research Institute (CAERI) in Chongqing, China, and their results fall under the ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 protocol.
With the upcoming 2026-2030 new regulations, the testing focus is expected to shift toward ADAS coverage, system responsiveness, and scenario complexity.
Overall, the ASEAN NCAP ratings of these two models serve as a strong benchmark. While they may not represent the pinnacle of safety, under current standards they clearly demonstrate Chery Group's commitment to structural safety, advanced assistance systems, and adaptation to regional road conditions. With a new round of test protocols on the horizon, the real challenge is likely just beginning.
