【PCauto】GAC AION UT is scheduled to officially launch in Thailand in March. Since its debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show last year, this model has garnered significant interest among consumers, although it was not available for purchase at that time.

Recently, AION UT initiated advance sales in China, with a price range of RMB89,800 to 109,800, equal to THB419,900 and 511,300 approximately. The formal launch in China is slated for February 28, shortly followed by its introduction in Thailand, underscoring GAC's strategic focus on the Thai market.

Both AION UT and BYD Dolphin are prominent electric vehicles targeting similar market segments, with AION UT exhibiting slightly larger dimensions in terms of length, width, and wheelbase when compared to BYD Dolphin:

AION UT: Dimensions of 4270mm × 1850mm × 1575 mm, with a wheelbase of 2750 mm.

BYD Dolphin: Dimensions of 4125mm × 1770mm × 1570 mm, with a wheelbase of 2700 mm.

AION UT features an exterior and interior design that aligns with the AION family design language, characterized by numerous rounded corner elements. Components such as the door handles and air vents are embellished with chrome accents in a shape of Chinese character “回”, offering an elegant aesthetic. The interior is furnished with a dual-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a prominently mounted central control screen.

The choice of interior materials reflects a premium sensibility, utilizing a generous amount of soft touch materials that enhance tactile comfort and overall quality perception. The meticulous attention to detail is evident in the stitching as well as the incorporation of decorative elements.

Functional areas within the vehicle are distinctly delineated, enabling drivers to effortlessly access essential buttons and control interfaces. Ergonomic principles are effectively employed, marrying aesthetic appeal with practical usability. The console adopts a semi-open design, featuring designated storage compartments beneath the central console and behind the display screen, alongside various smaller storage options, thereby offering ample space for the belongings of occupants.

AION UT is powered by a 100 kW electric motor, achieving a top speed of 150 km/h, which provides adequate power for urban mobility.

This vehicle is equipped with a liquid-cooled 44.1 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which facilitates a pure electric range of 420 km based on CLTC standards and supports rapid charging, allowing for recharging from 30% to 80% in a mere 24 minutes. Such specifications are generally regarded as sufficient for daily city commuting and short-distance travel.
