【PCauto】Honda has officially announced the impending launch of the sixth generation Prelude in the United States, slated for the latter half of this year, with deliveries anticipated to commence in 2026.

Honda Prelude, which originated in 1978, has traversed five generations and was once esteemed as one of Honda's hallmark models, celebrated for its elegant design and exceptional handling dynamics. However, production and sales of Prelude were discontinued in 2001.

Meanwhile, competitors such as Toyota with GR86, Mazda with MX-5, and Nissan with 350Z have dominated the two-door sports car segment, leaving Honda without a representative model until the much-anticipated Prelude's return.

The soon-to-be-released Honda Prelude seeks to preserve classic design elements while integrating contemporary design concepts and advanced technologies.

A key highlight of this model is its powertrain. The new Honda Prelude will be equipped with the 2.0L e:HEV hybrid system, which is also featured in Civic, boasting a maximum power output anticipated to reach 207 PS and peak torque of up to 314 N·m. Also, it will introduce a new S+Shift driving mode, simulating an experience akin to manual gear shifting.

With regard to chassis technology, Honda is expected to equip Prelude with a next-generation electronic suspension system capable of dynamically adjusting the suspension in real-time, depending on road conditions and selected driving modes.
