Xpeng Unfazed by Trump's Tariff Policies

【PCauto】On April 16, 2025, in response to the cost increase caused by US President Donald Trump's tariff policy, Xpeng announced that it has launched a thorough investigation into its supply chain.
Since Trump implemented the tariff policy during his tenure, the Sino-US economic and trade relations have been tense, bringing many unstable factors to the global industrial chain. Xpeng realizes the importance of the supply chain for the development of the enterprise, carries out a comprehensive inspection of all links from raw material procurement, parts manufacturing to vehicle assembly, to avoid the impact of market turbulence caused by U.S. tariff policy.

Xpeng's President Gu Hongdi told reporters in Hong Kong that the company's sales have not been impacted, which is thanks to Xpeng's loyal user base in the Chinese market, with the strict control of product quality, and accurately meeting consumer needs.
However, Gu Hongdi is also aware that under economic globalization, it is difficult for companies to completely avoid economic fluctuations. Changes in the global trade situation will indirectly affect companies through various channels, so Xpeng has been closely watching the situation to adjust its strategy at any time.

In supply chain management, Xpeng has taken a series of measures. On the one hand, it implements supply chain diversification, collaborating with many suppliers in Asia, Europe and other places, to avoid relying on a single source of supply. For example, in terms of battery supply, it allocates resources according to different situations in various locations to reduce risks.
On the other hand, Xpeng is accelerating the layout of local production, optimizing production bases in China to improve capacity and technology. In core overseas markets such as Europe and Southeast Asia, it is looking for opportunities to build factories there to achieve local production and sales, reducing the obstacles brought by tariffs.

From the perspective of international strategy, Xpeng's goal is ambitious. By 2025, Xpeng plans to expand the business to 60 countries and regions, doubling the number of international stores to more than 300. In the first quarter of this year, Xpeng has entered countries such as Belgium, Luxembourg, Ireland, Finland, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, and plans to enter Poland, Italy, Qatar and other markets in April, continuing to expand its global influence.
