Perodua Myvi and Bezza may undergo major upgrades in 2026

【PCauto】In Malaysia, few models resonate with consumers as strongly as the Perodua Myvi and Bezza.
Myvi and Bezza have long dominated the sales charts. However, with the current Bezza launched in 2016 and the third-generation Myvi introduced in 2017, both models are approaching the end of their product life cycles.

Myvi and Bezza to Transition to DNGA
As 2026 approaches, Perodua is set to officially initiate the development and redesign plan for the fourth-generation Myvi, codenamed D01D, and is expected to execute a full model change (FMC) for the Bezza. This is not only a product iteration but also an important milestone in this national car company's journey towards modernization and digitalization.
The cornerstone of the 2026 redesign plan is the complete unification of the platform architecture. It is anticipated that the new-generation Myvi and Bezza will abandon their outdated platforms and fully transition to the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA).

The application of the DNGA architecture will significantly improve the rigidity of the car body and driving stability. For the current Bezza, which has been criticized for its lack of high-speed stability, this is undoubtedly a qualitative leap.

To further optimize fuel efficiency, the next-generation Bezza is expected to completely replace its existing 4-speed automatic transmission (4AT) with a more efficient dual-mode continuously variable transmission (D-CVT).
In addition, Perodua aims to leverage the DNGA platform to introduce a higher-level intelligent driving assistance system (ADAS) to ensure that all models achieve an ASEAN NCAP five-star safety rating, making up for the lack of active safety features in the old models.
Bezza is most likely to usher in a new generation
As an entry-level sedan of Perodua, Bezza has always held an advantage in space utilization, fuel efficiency, and pricing, making it a long-standing core player in the entry-level sedan market. However, with the passage of time, the aging platform and increasing market competition are becoming apparent.

The old platform has caused Bezza to gradually lag behind in terms of body rigidity, driving quality, and integration of modern safety technologies. Competing models in the same segment, such as Proton Saga, Toyota Vios, or Honda City, are increasingly posing challenges to Bezza in terms of features, safety, and driving experience.
The Bezza has reached a point where a comprehensive upgrade is essential, as continued minor facelifts can no longer align with consumers' expectations for modern sedans.
The new generation Bezza is likely to adopt the DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture) platform, which not only represents a technical upgrade but also signifies significant improvements in overall vehicle performance.
· The cabin is designed to offer a more spacious experience, featuring noticeably improved rear legroom and headroom.
· Enhanced chassis rigidity improves cornering stability and comfort.
· The DNGA platform is inherently more suited to incorporate active safety systems, providing stronger collision protection and technological support for the new generation Bezza.
The new-generation Bezza is expected to feature more efficient naturally aspirated engines, balancing fuel economy with a smoother and more responsive driving experience.
Historically, the Bezza's safety features have been relatively basic. Future versions are anticipated to incorporate ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), introducing features such as lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, among others. Additionally, it will bring more airbag configurations, higher strength body structures, and energy-absorbing collision designs.
With these upgrades, the new generation Bezza will not only be an affordable entry-level car but also a safer, more comfortable modern sedan.
Myvi may not see a generation change, but its features will definitely be upgraded
Since the launch of its third generation, the Myvi hatchback has remained one of Perodua's iconic models. It has consistently ranked as a top seller in the small car market.
The success of the Myvi comes from various factors: its compact size makes it suitable for urban driving, its reasonable fuel efficiency, and its reliable durability, all of which have helped it maintain strong competitiveness in the market.

Given these strengths, Perodua is not under immediate pressure to launch an all-new generation of the Myvi. The current design and performance can still meet the daily needs of most consumers, and an early generation upgrade might instead bring costs and market risks.
While an all-new generation is not imminent, updates to the Myvi are essential to sustain its market appeal and technological relevance. Industry analysts suggest that any changes will likely take the form of major facelifts or comprehensive upgrades, rather than a full model change.
Possible upgrades include a more youthful design for the exterior and interior, updated lighting groups, grille, and wheel designs, as well as enhanced interior materials and color schemes to create a more refined cabin feel.
The chassis will also see improvements, with enhanced driving comfort and NVH, better chassis tuning and suspension response, and reduced wind and road noise for a more comfortable driving experience.
ADAS will add active safety features such as Lane Keep Assist and Autonomous Emergency Braking, along with multimedia system upgrades to support a smarter connected experience.

By 2026, the new Myvi and Bezza will have clearly defined market positions
Following its generational update, the Bezza will no longer be positioned merely as a budget-friendly alternative but will emerge as a core model within the Perodua lineup, boasting enhanced market competitiveness and brand premium potential.
The updates to the Myvi are not merely about pursuing innovation for its own sake, but are strategically focused on consolidating its brand and market presence, ensuring it continues to hold an irreplaceable position amidst intensifying competition.
