【PCauto】On May 15, 2025, Geely Auto announced its latest sales during the Q1 earnings conference call. In the first quarter, Geely's cumulative sales reached 704,000 units, showing a 48% year-on-year increase.

Additionally, Geely announced that one to two new models will be launched in the fourth quarter of this year. The Starship 7 and Xingyuan (Proton e.MAS 5) will also debut in many countries, probably including China.

Starship 7 is an SUV launched by Geely in December last year. It is equipped with PHEV powertrain, delivering a pure electric range of about 120km. Its price in China starts from RM59,111.

The Geely Starship 7 measures 4,740 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,685 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,755 mm, positioning it as a D-segment vehicle.

As PHEV, the Starship 7 adopts the clean, enclosed grille commonly seen in new energy vehicles, showing a stylish and minimalist appearance. The headlights are full-width, connected from left to right, making the vehicle highly recognizable when lit up at night. The lower air intake has a distinctive design with chrome accents, adding visual appeal to the front fascia.

At the rear, the license plate is in the center of the tailgate for a nice look. The taillights also adopt a full-width LED strip design. Additionally, the exhaust port is hidden, contributing to the succinct rear style without unnecessary decorations.

The interior of the Starship 7 adopts a classic T-shaped layout, with a 10.2-inch floating digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch central touchscreen upfront.

Soft-touch materials cover most interior surface. And its air vent is hidden. Some models have front seats supporting ventilation and heating functions, while higher-end models' co-pilot seat supporting lumbar, back, thigh and leg massage functions.

The biggest selling point of the Starship 7 is its hybrid powertrain system. This system consists of a BHE15-BFN 1.5L engine paired with an electric motor, featuring front-wheel drive. The electric motor delivers 160kW of power with a maximum torque of 262N·m, enabling a 0-100km/h acceleration in just 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 180km/h

The combustion engine produces a maximum power of 82kW and torque of 136N·m, achieving an impressive thermal efficiency of 46.5%. Even at minimum battery level, the Starship 7 shows excellent fuel efficiency at 3.75L/100km. With both fuel tank and battery fully charged, the vehicle can achieve an exceptional maximum range of 2,000 km.

The hybrid system is equipped with two battery options: a 19.09kWh battery providing 120 km of pure electric range, and an 8.5kWh battery offering 55 km of pure electric range.

In safety, Starship 7 is built on Geely's dedicated GEA new energy architecture, with the body structure designed to protect both occupants and the battery. It comes standard with six airbags and includes a 540° transparent chassis function for enhanced visibility.

Overall, Starship 7 retains the product strengths of Geely's Galaxy series, making it a truly competitive vehicle in automobile industry.

Looking ahead, Geely has stated it will focus on market expansion in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and South American. Geely plans to introduce more electric vehicles in the EU and Asia-Pacific regions while continuing its cooperation with Proton. Geely aims to establish Proton as the number one brand in Malaysia and a top-three competitor in ASEAN, with plans to introduce more advanced technologies and products in the future.
