Geely Celebrates 200,000 Sales of Xingyuan; Will e.Mas 5 Enjoy Similar Success?

【PCauto】Geely's Xingyuan has achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing 200,000 sales in just eight months since its launch in China, leaving even Geely itself astonished.

Since March, the Geely Xingyuan has maintained its position at the top of the local pure electric vehicle sales charts in China, selling 36,119 units in April alone. In comparison, the BYD Seagull claimed the second spot with sales of 34,005 units, while the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV secured third place with 28,990 units sold.

Notably, both the BYD Seagull and Wuling Hongguang Mini EV are priced significantly lower than the Geely Xingyuan, suggesting that Xiangyuan's success is not solely attributable to a low price point.

The Xingyuan starts at a price of RM60,387. Its design incorporates a plethora of parametric aesthetics, featuring a sleek coupe silhouette accompanied by a continuous taillight—appealing to the preferences of younger consumers and fulfilling their aesthetic demands for vehicle appearance. Inside, the vehicle boasts an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster paired with a 14.6-inch central touchscreen.

When it comes to features, the Xingyuan is notably equipped, offering L2-level intelligent driving assistance, a heads-up display (HUD), CATL batteries, and a CLTC range of 410 kilometers. The charging speed is impressive as well, allowing the battery to go from 30% to 80% in just 21 minutes.

The Proton e.Mas 5, which shares many qualities with the Geely Xingyuan, is set to launch in Malaysia soon. Based on product positioning, the e.Mas 5 is expected to be priced more affordably than the e.MAS 7, thereby attracting a broader audience.

The e.Mas 5 utilizes Geely's SEA architecture technology, featuring a front MacPherson suspension and a rear multi-link independent suspension, along with a rear-wheel-drive layout—offering a significant advantage over its competitors, such as the BYD Dolphin.

Earlier, the Proton e.Mas 7 achieved notable success in Malaysia. With the e.Mas 7 alone, Proton positioned itself as the second-best-selling electric vehicle brand in the country, with an impressive 799 units sold.

BYD takes the top spot due to having five models available on the market simultaneously; however, in terms of individual model sales, the e.Mas 7's 799 units significantly outpace the second-place BYD Sealion 7, which sold just 393 units.

If the e.Mas 7 (Geely EX5) , not so outstanding as some models under Geely, can achieve the title of the highest-selling electric vehicle model in Malaysia, what can be expected when the e.Mas 5 hits the market? It may even outperform the e.Mas 7’s impressive sales figures.
