It is reported that the Isuzu D-Max and Isuzu MU-X will be equipped with a new 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine. Tripetch Isuzu recently released an official teaser for this new powertrain, indicating that the engine will be officially launched in Thailand soon. Consumers interested in the new engine can already register for test drives.
This new engine is built on the RZ engine platform with an increased displacement of 2.2 liters and features an upgraded turbocharging system. While Isuzu has not disclosed the specific power figures for this engine, the company has stated that it offers “stronger performance” and “faster acceleration,” naming it the “MAXFORCE” engine.
Both the Isuzu D-Max and Isuzu MU-X will be powered by this MAXFORCE 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine. However, it is still unclear whether this engine will replace the existing 1.9-liter turbocharged diesel engine or if it will be offered alongside the 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine. This new 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine will incorporate Isuzu’s latest diesel engine technology, and it is expected to offer better power than the 4JJ3 engine while maintaining lower fuel consumption compared to the RZ4E.
