Kia has officially announced the prices for its new model, the EV9 Long Range, offering two sub-models: Earth Long Range and GT-Line AWD. The GT-Line AWD model is set to be delivered starting in April 2024, while the Earth Long Range model deliveries are scheduled to commence in June 2024.
Official prices for Kia EV9 Long Range:
- EV9 Earth Long Range: THB 3,499,000
- EV9 GT-Line AWD: THB 3,899,000
The new car enters the Thai market through complete importation, and alongside the announcement of its pricing, the relevant purchase benefits have been disclosed. These include a 7-year comprehensive vehicle warranty, 7 years of emergency rescue service, 7 years of free maintenance, and an 8-year battery warranty. Additionally, the new car has launched promotional activities, with the promotion period running from March 1, 2024, to April 30, 2024. The specific promotion details are as follows:
- 25% down payment, 48-month installment plan, and 1.79% interest rate
- Free 2-year insurance
- Free Kia home charger set with complimentary installation for customers
The Kia EV9 features distinctive electric vehicle design elements, such as the matrix-style square lights on one side of the headlights, giving it a futuristic look. The overall profile of the vehicle is square and stylish, which fits its identity as a large SUV. The low-drag wheel design and minimalist rear-end styling also echo the electric nature of the Kia EV9. As a Korean vehicle, the Kia EV9 is undeniably high in aesthetics.
Kia EV9 body size:
- Body length: 5010-5015mm
- Body width: 1980mm
- Body height: 1755-1780mm
- Wheelbase: 3100mm
- Minimum ground clearance: 177mm
The interior design appears quite traditional. The double-connected screen design is popular, and it’s clear that the Kia EV9 does not pursue the minimalist style of electric cars and still retains a large number of physical buttons. The seating is arranged in a 2+2+2 configuration, and the third row of seats can be electrically folded and are perfectly level with the trunk when folded. The driver seat also provides leg support, which is not very common in SUVs.
The Kia EV9 is also equipped with some highlight features, such as a rotating second row of seats, front seats with heating and ventilation functions, a 12.3-inch digital dashboard, a 12.3-inch multimedia display screen, six USB ports, an ADAS safety system, etc.
ADAS safety system features:
- Intelligent cruise control with stop-and-go function
- Blind spot warning system in rearview mirror Blind Spot Collision Assist System
- Blind spot view system on a monitor screen.
- Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA)
- Lane Follow Assist and Lane Keep Assist.
- Front Collision Prevention System that uses Junction Assist to detect cars, people, and bicycles.
Kia EV9 power system:
EV9 GT-Line
It employs four-wheel drive with two permanent magnet synchronous motors. The maximum power of the motor is 282.6kW (305PS), and the peak torque is 600N·m, which can reach 700N·m in Boost mode. The capacity of the power battery is 99.8kWh, the maximum power of AC slow charging is 10.9kW, and the maximum power of DC fast charging is 350kW. Because the EV9 is built on an 800V high-voltage platform, it supports super-fast charging. In addition, the EV9 can provide 3.58kW of external power supply.
The performance of the EV9 GT-Line is impressive, with a 0-100km/h acceleration of only 5.3 seconds, which is quite good for such a large car. The NEDC pure electric range is 647km, and it can charge from 10% to 80% in 24 minutes.
EV9 Earth Long Range
It uses rear-wheel drive, and the motor has a maximum power of 149.5kW (204PS) and a peak torque of 350N·m. This model is also based on the 800V high-voltage platform, and the battery capacity is 99.8kWh. Its charging power and external power supply power are the same as the EV9 GT-Line, so its charging time is also the same.
The 0-100km/h acceleration of the EV9 Earth Long Range is 9.4 seconds, and its NEDC pure electric range is 680km. It can be seen that its range is not much longer than that of the four-wheel drive model. I think on the one hand it is because the single-motor drive is a bit hard for a car with a larger body and heavier weight, and it is not necessarily energy-saving. On the other hand, the dual motor of the four-wheel drive system can also recover more electricity during energy recovery.
