LEAPMOTOR A10 Interior Revealed: Offers LiDAR, Takes Aim at BYD Dolphin

[PCauto]Leapmotor has officially unveiled the interior of its all-new compact electric SUV, the A10 (badged B03X for overseas markets).

With its launch in China just around the corner—about a month away—more details about this important high-volume model have emerged.

Positioned as a key contributor to Leapmotor’s ambitious 2026 target of 1 million units, the A10 is clearly aimed at the entry-level EV segment, offering what the brand describes as “upgraded features” to outmatch rivals in the same class.

From a market standpoint, the A10 will compete directly with entry-level EVs such as the BYD Dolphin and Geely EX 2, creating overlapping price segments.

While the model leans towards an SUV form factor, its pricing and feature strategy align more closely with A/B-segment EVs.

Exterior Design

The A10 sports a closed-off front fascia with rectangular headlights that emphasise a rugged, angular look.

Coupled with semi-hidden door handles, the overall aesthetic leans into a technological, modern feel rather than "cute" or rounded styling.

Leapmotor calls this the “Tech-Natural Aesthetics 2.0” design language. The A10 will also come in six exterior colour options, keeping its appeal firmly aimed at younger buyers.

Dimensions and Space

The A10 measures 4,270 mm in length with a 2,605 mm wheelbase, placing it firmly in the compact SUV category. Compared with entry-level electric hatchbacks, the slightly longer wheelbase should provide more generous rear legroom while maintaining the manoeuvrability needed for city commuting.

Interior and Infotainment: Tech Takes Centre Stage

Photos of the interior reveal a clean, tech-focused design in line with Leapmotor’s usual style. The centrepiece is a 14.6-inch floating touchscreen (2.5K resolution) complemented by an 8.88-inch fully digital instrument cluster, creating a modern “dual-screen” layout.

Notably, the cabin is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8295 chip, offering higher graphics performance and smoother system response—a feature that remains uncommon among competitors in this segment. Comfort and convenience features include ambient lighting and a wireless charging pad, with the overall layout clearly targeting younger buyers.

LiDAR Availability

One of the A10’s standout tech features is the optional LiDAR on higher trims, paired with the SA8650 driver-assist chip.

This hardware enables enhanced environmental sensing, theoretically providing more precise assistance in congested, multi-motorcycle traffic or complex urban conditions.

Of course, real-world performance will depend on production models, with variations possible across markets due to differing regulations and calibration strategies.

Powertrain and Range

The A10 offers two electric motor options:

·         70 kW

·         90 kW (around 122 hp)

Performance is clearly aimed at daily commuting rather than sporty driving. Battery options include:

·         39.8 kWh (CLTC range 403 km)

·         53 kWh (CLTC range up to 505 km)

Fast charging from 30% to 80% takes around 16 minutes, which is competitive within its class. It’s worth noting that CLTC figures are generally higher than WLTP or real-world ranges; overseas versions are expected to see adjusted numbers.

Market Prospects: Price Is Key

As a global strategic model for Leapmotor, the A10 is slated to enter European markets later this year. Southeast Asia and other emerging EV markets are also considered important growth areas.

Competitors like the BYD Dolphin already have established pricing advantages and brand recognition in some regions. For the A10 to stand out, pricing remains the critical variable.

In the entry-level EV segment, cost often outweighs specs in driving consumer decisions. LiDAR, dual-chip platforms, and large smart cockpits are attractive features, but without a clear price advantage, market reception remains uncertain.
