Lexus RX dominates the luxury car market in Malaysia, with BMW and Mercedes-Benz close behind!

Recently, the Road Transport Department of Malaysia (JPJ) released vehicle registration data, revealing the best-selling cars in Malaysia as of October 2024. At the top of the list for high-end models is the Lexus RX, with 3,591 units registered, far ahead of the BMW 3 Series, which holds the second position. The top ten cars in this report include two models from BMW, two from Lexus, five from Mercedes-Benz, and one from Porsche.

It is reported that the Lexus RX is a popular grey import or refurbished vehicle, and JPJ data does not differentiate between official and refurbished models. Since refurbished cars are almost always from premium brands, they likely make up a significant portion of the sales figures.
The Lexus RX is also favored by local consumers due to its high reliability, even though its price is not the most competitive. Consumers still prefer it. After the 2023 Lexus RX 350 Luxury was made available for pre-order in Malaysia, more than 500 orders were received within the first week, indicating its popularity.

There are two models of Lexus RX available in the Malaysian market, priced at RM 468,888-498,888. Its fuel consumption performance is 8.5-9.4L/100km and its 0-100 acceleration time is between 5.9-7.6s. In terms of power, the Lexus RX 350 Luxury is equipped with a 2.4L turbo engine, with a maximum power of 275 Hp. The Lexus RX 500h F Sport version uses a 2.4L turbo engine with an added electric motor, elevating the maximum power to 366Hp.
