Malaysia Hyundai Staria 2026 Edition Ten-Seater Version Removes Foldable Tray, Replaces with Fixed Central Console
After the Staria upgrade, front row legroom is optimized, and the price remains unchanged, offering excellent value for money
ADAS Advanced Driver Assistance System Exclusively Available in Top-tier 7-Seater Version

【PCauto】As the first locally assembled (CKD) MPV by Hyundai Malaysia (HMMS), the Staria, with its futuristic one-line design and flexible interior space, has quickly established itself in the Malaysian MPV market since production began in 2021 at the Inokom factory in Kulim.

The recently launched 2026 model continues to feature a stable power system, with all models equipped with a 2.2-liter CRDi turbocharged diesel four-cylinder engine, delivering a maximum output of 177 horsepower and peak torque of 430 Nm. The transmission system is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and it continues to enjoy an 8-year or 160,000 kilometers manufacturer warranty, making reliability one of its key attributes.

Here's the key point: addressing the slightly cramped issue of the foldable tray in the middle of the front row in the 10-seat version, which serves as both a seat and a storage space, the new Staria has made specific improvements.

The new car cancels the previous design and replaces it with a fixed center console identical to the 7-seat version. The new console integrates detachable cup holders, retractable cup holders, multi-layer storage compartments, and drawer-style trays. While preserving rich storage functionality, the fixed structure optimizes legroom for front-row passengers.

Such changes, combined with the 2+3+2+3 seat layout, improve space utilization and convenience for the front row in the 10-seat version when fully loaded. Even more impressive is that this configuration upgrade has not resulted in a price increase. The Style 10-seat version starts at RM 179,888 (THB 1,425,099), and the top-tier Prestige 7-seat version remains at RM 267,888 (THB 2,122,248), highlighting its cost-effectiveness amidst the general market trend of increased configurations leading to higher prices.

The clear configurations reflect Hyundai Staria's strategy to meet different demands.
- The entry-level Style version is equipped with an 8-inch infotainment screen and traditional analog instruments;
- The mid-level Prime version upgrades to a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and adds a 360-degree panoramic view;
- Meanwhile, the Prestige 10-seat version offers electrically adjustable driver’s seat, auto-dimming rearview mirror, wireless phone charging, and a smart powered tailgate, among other comfort features.

However, the configuration differences are also reflected in active safety features. The complete ADAS advanced driver assistance system is currently exclusive to the top-of-the-line 7-seater Prestige version. Most 10-seater models are not equipped, while the Style version only offers door opening warning, and the Prime version primarily adds a blind spot display function. This may require consideration for users who value active safety technology.

In the increasingly competitive MPV market, adhering to this small incremental improvement based on local feedback while maintaining price competitiveness is undoubtedly key for Hyundai Staria to consolidate and expand its market share. After all, in terms of space, performance, and value composition, meticulous attention to details that can effectively optimize daily usage experience is often more convincing than theoretical specifications.
