[PCauto] Recently, Mercedes-Benz has accelerated its electrification strategy, with plans to officially launch the entry-level electric G-Class model "Little G" in 2027.
This vehicle will not only inherit the iconic rugged genes of the G-Class family but also aim to expand the brand's presence in the high-end electric vehicle market through a more accessible price and innovative technology.

The "Little G" will be built on Benz's newly developed MB:EA electric platform, featuring a unibody structure, an 800V high-voltage electrical architecture, and fifth-generation battery technology, which together provide a range of over 700 kilometers.

In terms of powertrain, the standard version will be equipped with the eATS 2.0 motor, delivering a combined output of 482 horsepower and featuring a two-speed transmission to optimize energy efficiency. A high-performance AMG version is also planned for release in 2028, utilizing axial-flow motors derived from F1 technology for enhanced performance.
Off-road capabilities are a hallmark of the "Little G," inheriting the robust characteristics of the G-Class family. It comes with a dedicated off-road mode, an adjustable air suspension system, and a combination of double-wishbone front suspension, the same feature as GLC, and multi-link rear suspension, balancing on-road comfort with the ability to navigate challenging terrains.

In terms of exterior design, the "Little G" retains classic elements of the G-Class, such as rectangular turn signals, flared wheel arches, and a tailgate-mounted spare tire decoration, while emphasizing its electric identity through details like the lowercase "g" badge and an optimized drag coefficient of below 0.44.

The reduced dimensions make it more suited for urban environments in Southeast Asia, while maintaining the visual recognition of a rugged off-roader.
With market positioning and pricing strategy in mind, the "Little G," as a new member of the G-Class family, will be positioned as an entry-level model and will only be offered in an electric version. The anticipated starting price is around £70,000 (approximately RM 407,036 ). Once launched, it is expected to leverage its shared platform with the G-Class, inheriting the brand's classic off-road image and attracting consumers seeking the G-Class off-road experience.

BYD said that the Japanese government discriminates, giving Toyota, Tesla, and other competitors more subsidies.
With the Japanese government's official implementation of the 2026 "Clean Energy Vehicle Subsidy Program" (CEV Subsidy Program), the subsidy amount received by BYD models has formed a huge gap compared to other local brands. After factoring in subsidies, the originally higher-priced Toyota bZ4X is even cheaper than the BYD Atto 3, causing BYD to lose its pricing advantage in the local market.
