ORA GOOD CAT, an all-electric vehicle as endearing as a pet cat, what are the key highlights to look at?

Currently, there are two ORA models on the Thai market, the ORA GOOD CAT and the ORA 07. In comparison, the GOOD CAT with its small, retro body shape and a starting price of 799,000 Thai baht, is more likely to touch the heart of consumers, while the ORA 07 appears as a sports car, stronger in sports, but less cute than the GOOD CAT.

"Cute" is the soul of this GOOD CAT car, and is also a straightforward expression of ORA's creation of a brand serving female users. But it's not all about GOOD CAT. ORA was born from GWM, so in terms of vehicle-building experience and technology, ORA GOOD CAT has a good guarantee, or in other words, it comes from a good family. Moreover, without a doubt, GOOD CAT is the main model on sale for the ORA brand, even in the Chinese market, GOOD CAT is in the core position of ORA, even in the GWM electric vehicle camp, naturally it will be given more attention.

I. Power system and configuration

The power systems of the two models on sale are completely identical, and both are equipped with 57.70kWh lithium iron phosphate batteries, so the cruising range is also the same. The NEDC continuing range of 480km means that the daily driving range can be between 350-400km, or even exceed 400km. ORA GOOD CAT mainly plays the role of city commuting, if the daily commuting distance is around 50km, it can achieve power once a week.

GOOD CAT is not a car that emphasizes acceleration performance, but it offers five different driving modes. Apart from the conventional economic and sport modes, there is also a more energy-saving ECO+ mode which is similar to the single pedal mode, that is, when the acceleration pedal is released, the energy recovery of the vehicle is very significant.

With consistent power systems, differences between the two sub-models lie mainly in configuration. From the official configuration list, it can be seen that both cars are equipped with the ADAS automatic auxiliary driving system, but the ULTRA model has additional features like LCA lane change assist, RCW rear collision warning, ARA automatic parking, and very detailed functions like DOW rear warning after opening the door, which further enriches the intelligent configuration of the vehicle.

Furthermore, functions like welcome seat, 50W wireless charging, etc. are usually more preferred by female users. Compared to the PRO model, the ULTRA model has an additional 3300W V2L external power source function, thus in scenarios like camping, the ULTRA model provides more convenience.

II. Design of Exterior and Interior

When describing the shape of GOOD CAT, the official used the word "retro and futurism". These two words are inherently contradictory terms, and GOOD CAT hopes to combine the two.

From the actual shape, I think the future mentioned by the official can be understood in two aspects. On the one hand, the fashion sense shown by GOOD CAT is quite advanced, and on the other hand, the identity of GOOD CAT's pure electric body represents the future. Simply put, GOOD CAT uses retro design elements to show the fashion style of electric cars.

The retro elements are reflected in the exterior design in details such as the round headlights, the design of the wheel hubs, and the raised lines on both sides of the front engine hood. These designs have a car design style of the early and mid-20th century, giving a retro feel. However, GOOD CAT boldly used a two-tone body on this design, and tried colors of low saturation similar to the Morandi color system. This rich body color gives GOOD CAT a unique sense of fashion. It remains to be seen whether female users will regard such a car as a fashionable item and include it in the list of their fashion mix when they go out.

The design of the interior is also a combination of retro and future. The 7-inch LCD dashboard and 10.25-inch touch control screen are connected, and designed in a fashionable dual-screen style, which is a design liked by many new energy vehicles in China. In addition, the detailed design of the interior reflects retro elements everywhere.

For example, its retro shiny silver toggle style button on the control panel, the round dashboard layout, and the bar-style auxiliary dashboard, and so on, these are all designs that female users like. The interior of the actual shooting model is pure black, which I think does not suit this kind of interior. The black hides these retro design elements, but the beige and brown mixed interior launched by GOOD CAT can better showcase the beauty of this retro design.

III. Space

GOOD CAT's overall body size is not big. This design is to present a cute temperament and also to facilitate female users who do not like to drive big cars to commute in crowded and narrow urban roads. However, in fact, GOOD CAT has not lost practical riding space.

An adult male who is nearly 180cm tall can sit in the back row with a fist's worth of spare headroom and two fists of legroom. If petite female friends are traveling in the car, the rear space is spacious and comfortable. However, due to the very prominent protrusion of the rear platform and the limited width of the entire body, it will feel cramped if three people are sitting in the back. The most comfortable seating configuration for GOOD CAT is still for four people.

What is lacking in the back row is an independent vent, and more USB interfaces. The back row only has 1 USB interface, which seems a bit short. In addition, the area of the sunroof is not large and does not extend over the heads of the rear passengers.

Conclusion:

The special thing about ORA GOOD CAT is that it is more targeted at female users, but in terms of car usage scenarios, it primarily fulfills daily urban commuting needs. This makes its use scenario highly overlap with models such as BYD Dolphin and NETA V. This is the challenge faced by GOOD CAT. Of course, the higher price also does not work in its favor, but think about those fashionable and expensive items, sometimes price can't determine everything for female users, right?
