The brand new large five-seat SUV from smart—the smart#5, premiered globally in Australia. The new vehicle is positioned as a mid-size large five-seat SUV, making it the largest model in smart's history. The smart #5 is built on the SEA Haohan platform, designed by the global design team of Mercedes-Benz. It has a round overall shape, a clear crossover style, and is paired with a unique exterior kit. There are also various styles of front and rear trim strips to choose from.

The all-new smart #5 concept car will be the largest, squarish and boldest smart in history, which marks smart's entry into the luxury mid-sized pure electric SUV market. The design inspiration comes from "outdoors". The smart #5 will be equipped with a series of specially designed accessories. The "long-lost refreshing freedom and surprise experience of exploring the unknown" is the first impression that the new smart #5 concept car wanted to bring to users at the beginning of its design. The straight outline and square stance integrate elegance and power, making it more muscular and more like a square box. The unique multifunctional outdoor roof platform interprets the spirit of outdoor exploration.

In terms of appearance, the smart#5 production version retains many of the concept version's design details. The overall shape is round, the crossover style is clear, and it is also paired with a unique exterior kit, offering a variety of styles of front and rear trim strips to choose from. The four-hole design on the new car's front face is highly recognizable, and the headlight shape is unique. The BRABUS performance version features a combination of silver-gray main color and red embellishments, which also makes it very recognizable.
The smart #5 has a flat side, a straight waistline, and does not adopt the exaggerated double-door design of the concept car, but uses a traditional door opening method. The wheel styles are very technological, and 18-inch, 19-inch, 20-inch, 21-inch and other sizes are available. The length, width, and height of the new car are 4705/1920/1705mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2900mm. The sprite #5 tail adopts a through-type tail light design, and the tail design elements echo the front face.

As for the interior, the minimalist lines of smart#5 outline the overall control interface with a horizontal layout, making the control layout more intuitive and convenient. The car is equipped with a 13-inch dual OLED display, embedded with AMD V2000 high-performance chip, and has a four-seat layout. It also comes with a zero-gravity seat equipped with a cushion airbag. Regarding intelligent driving, smart #5 may be equipped with smart Pilot Assist 3.0. This version will be launched at the end of 2024, the software is wholly self-developed by smart Robot Technology Co., Ltd, and the hardware is the combination of Nvidia Orin chip and LiDAR, which supports urban NOA.

Smart #5 will be based on the 800V pure electric high-voltage platform, with at least four power versions, including a single point machine rear drive version, a dual motor four-wheel drive version and a BRABUS performance version. It supports 4C ultra-fast charging technology, which can charge the power from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes. In terms of endurance, there are two battery group specifications, 76kWh and 100.01kWh, and the pure electric range of CLTC is 570km, 660km, 670km, 720km, and 740km, respectively.
Smart #5 will offer several power versions with single motor and dual motors. Among them, the high and low power versions of the single motor model can be selected, with maximum powers of 250kW and 267kW, respectively. The maximum power of the dual motor model is 165kW for the front motor and 267kW for the rear motor. The dual motors of the BRABUS performance model have a maximum power of 165kW and 310kW, respectively, and it is the first mass-produced car equipped with the self-developed "Douby AI large model" by Bytedance.
