smart#5 Explains: Mercedes-Benz Design, with a Range of Up to 740km!

At the 2024 Chengdu Auto Show in China,smart launched their brand new large five-seaterSUV—smart#5, a medium-sized pure electric SUV, built on an 800V high voltage platform, offering single motor, dual motor, as well as BRABUS performance version, with a CLTC pure electric range of up to 740km. Reportedly,smart#5 just made its global debut in Australia, the models currently on sale in the Malaysian market aresmart#1, smart#3 andsmart#EQ Fortwo, with prices ranging from RM 169,000 to RM 255,000, it is expected that the price of this model will also continue in this range.

In terms of appearance, the smart#5 has been designed by the Mercedes-Benz global design team. The overall shape is round and the cross-border style is obvious. It also comes with a unique exterior kit and offers a variety of front and rear decorative strip styles. The four-hole design in the front face of the car is highly recognizable, and the shape of the headlights is unique. The appearance of the BRABUS performance version makes use of a combination of a silver-grey main color and red details, also making it highly distinguishable.
The side of the smart#5 car body is quite flat, the waistline is straight, it does not adopt the exaggerated design of the concept car doors, and it is still using the traditional method of opening doors. The wheel ring style is very science and technology, it also provides a variety of sizes such as 18 inches, 19 inches, 20 inches, 21 inches for choice. The smart#5 taillights are designed in a style that goes through, and the elements at the back of the car echo the face of the car.

In terms of body size, the length, width and height of smart#5 are 4705/1920/1705mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2900mm and a wind resistance coefficient of only 0.27Cd. In comparison, the length, width and height of Tesla Model Y are 4750/1921/1624mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2890mm.
In terms of interior, smart #5 adopts a completely new design style. It is different from smart#1 and smart#3, equipped with a triple-screen layout composed of a 10.3-inch LCD instrument and two 13-inch OLED screens, and equipped with a 25.6-inch AR-HUD. Overall, it has a stronger visual impact and creates a strong sense of technology.
In terms of smart cockpit, smart#5 will be equipped with smart OS 2.0 smart car system, built-in AMD V2000 chip, equipped with ByteDance's self-developed "Douba AI large model", its voice recognition function can recognize semantics and respond to users' needs, and users only need to use daily communication language, can achieve control of the vehicle and obtain information, including answering calls, reading short messages, music and media, air conditioning control, navigation, personal setting and vehicle control, etc. In terms of intelligent driving, the new car will be equipped with smart Pilot Assist 3.0 intelligent driving system, using NVIDIA DRIVE Orin as the centralized computing platform of the latest model, and equipped with lidar, with the function of high-speed and urban area pilot assist driving.

In terms of power, smart#5 will offer multiple power versions of single motor and dual motor. The single-motor version has high and low power options, with maximum power outputs of 250 kilowatts and 267 kilowatts respectively; the dual-motor version has maximum power outputs of 165 kilowatts and 267 kilowatts for the front and rear drive motors respectively; as for the BRABUS performance model, the front and rear drive motors have maximum power outputs of 165 kilowatts and 310 kilowatts respectively.
In terms of endurance, smart#5 offers two battery specifications of 76 kilowatts-hour and 100.01 kilowatts-hour, with CLTC pure electric ranges of 570km, 660km, 670km, 720km and 740km respectively. In addition, the new car supports 4C fast charging technology, allowing the charge to go from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes.

In addition, smart#5 offers 8 driving modes, including Eco, Comfort, Sport3 modes, and Sand, Snow, Mud, Rock, Adaptive 5 all-terrain driving modes, with a maximum wading depth of 500mm and 100% maximum climbing ability.
