The smart brand is continuously breaking through traditional impressions and moving towards larger models. Recently, smart officially announced that its brand-new masterpiece, the smart #5 production version, will make its global debut on August 28th. The size of the new car reaches 4705x1920x1705mm, and the wheelbase is as long as 2900mm, far exceeding previous smart models, which is called the "largest" in the history of the brand.

In terms of power, smart #5 offers rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options, with a variety of motor and battery combinations to choose from. Among them, the rear-wheel-drive model is equipped with a 250kW or 267kW motor, while the four-wheel-drive model is equipped with 165/267kW or 165/310kW dual motors. In addition, the entry-level rear-wheel-drive model uses a lithium iron phosphate battery, while all other models are equipped with ternary lithium batteries.

In terms of exterior design, the smart #5 production version continues the design style of the previous concept car. The model is themed around "stellar elements". And the interior ambient lighting uses a "interstellar journey" light and shadow design, while the exterior front and rear lights present a "time capsule" visual effect. It is worth mentioning that the concept car is also equipped with a portable HiFi speaker and the industry's first vehicle-grade full-color laser projector, which further enhances the technological and entertainment aspects of the car interior.

Many consumers believe that the exterior design of the smart #5 has similarities with some Korean brand models. This blending of design styles may be an attempt by the smart brand to explore new markets and attract a wider consumer group, but design style is a subjective feeling, and different people will have different opinions.

Traz, as a newly launched mid-sized SUV, offers more spacious room and mainstream power compared to small SUVs, but its pricing appears slightly higher than that of Ativa. Ativa, on the other hand, is Perodua's long-time best-selling small SUV with more affordable pricing and a balanced combination of power and tech features.

Perodua Traz VS Toyota Yaris Cross, where does the Traz fall short?

Before the official launch of the Perodua Traz, market expectations were actually very high because it shares the same DNGA platform as the Toyota Yaris Cross. However, sharing the same platform does not equate to the same experience, and the Traz's final performance has indeed been disappointing. Perhaps it is precisely because of the delayed launch that it has almost no competitiveness in the current competitive environment.
